View Full Version : 3 Players I believe should make the 53 man roster

KCJohnny

1. Jeff Terrell. Clearly has better mechanics, decision-making and higher completion % than Printers or Croyle. Cut Printers or Croyle, move Terrell to #2 on the depth chart.

2. Derrick Ross. This guy is 100% football player. Tough, aggressive, great size, quick moves, makes his own yards. Colby Smith had one lucky down. Ross rips defenses in the running and passing game.

3. Justin Phinisee. This guy HITS PEOPLE, runs back kicks, has NO FEAR, lifts the entire team with his dare-devil athletic play.

I know all these guys are on the bubble, but they really impressed me this pre season.

DaneMcCloud

I think all three will probably end up on the 8-man practice squad, though I think that Ross should make the roster over Smith.

Smith looks rather pedestrian to me.

2. Derrick Ross...

Croyle is overrated by an Alabama mile. Terrell's mechanics, fundamentals, reads and execution were better than all of the other KC QBs combined this pre season.

I bet you'd be impressed with Croyle if he played against third-stringers and prevent defenses, too. Terrell has NO ARM. He's scout-team QB material ONLY.

LOL! That's why Carl stated in the press box in game 3, "I think we've found a quarterback!"

I could be wrong, but I think Terrell's performance behind 3rd string OLs and with 3rd string WRs speaks very highly of him. You cannot deny he has been the most accurate passer for KC in the pre season. Don't make me whip out the stats on you.

Ross has had enough chances. Time to move on and IMO Smith has more potential.

I like Terrell for his quick decision making and quick throws behind the line.. You know the line that sucks horribly where the only way you do not get killed is to act quickly...

With the way he throws a pump fake would **** the corners in man to man... Hopefully he makes it as the #3 guy this year and moves up next year...

Ross will wind up on some NFL squad and break into the first team lineup. I love the way he runs like Craig Heyward or Bam Morris (when Bam was good). He also catches the ball VERY well out of the backfield and makes his own yards, kinda like Kimble Anders.

Exactly! If you have ever coached this game (as I have) you immediately picked up on how sound Terrell's mechanics/fundamentals are and how good his reads were. Seeing he is playing behind a porous OL, he made the best of 3-step drops and quick-hit slants. There is more upside to Terrell than Printers or Croyle IMO.

He's a solid QB. He won't EVER be a starter or even 2nd string. Printers has improved IMMENSELY and the fact that he is mobile kind of puts this argument to rest, especially with our shoddy offensive line play.

I was talking football. The subject is 3 players I think should make the team. You changed the subject to personal qualifications. Your football qualifications are in no way superior to mine. As if that actually mattered about anything of consequence. I have been head coach of football teams for 4 seasons. That matters nothing in the real world. Chiefs Planet is an entertainment venue, nothing more. You warming a seat in a press box qualifies you for nothing more than anything I have done when expressing opinions about Chiefs football. I am a fan, you are a fan. That's all.

I like Jeff Terrell. Chiefs Planet is a place I can state that and receive feed back - both for and against my POV. The ad hominem attacks are totally unneccesary.

My three:

1. Brodie Croyle. He'd be a bubble player on a lot of teams, but I think you should keep him. He has a lot of upside for the next two preseasons. You can cut him after that.

2. Damon Huard. He's no Trent Green, but he has a green dot on the back of his helmet. Trent Green, green dot. That kind of continuity is important in the NFL.

3. Priest Holmes. He's a proven RB.

I can't believe I fell asleep and missed this thread. First of all some of you guys shouldn't be dragging Johnny's military service into a paltry thread about a team that none of us even play on. It's a slap in the face and it's punching below the belt. Phobia, I know you've said you were in the service. If so then you should know better than anyone to attack the honor of a fellow soldier by trivializing his service to make a point in on a Football message board. It's bullshit! Clayton, piling on with your snarky little comment is crap. You wouldn't even have a free press to write in if it weren't for combat soliders, airman, marines and others.

Now getting back to Football. I agree think Johnny is wrong about Terrell as well. Terrell, can't or didn't go deep in the game and if you put him in as your 3rd string guy and he won't be able to keep the defense honest and then the corners are going to sit on the short balls and he's going to throw a lot of pick sixes and not move the team on 3rd down. Printers is Printers but at least he can run for it on 3rd down and move the chains. For that reason Terrell is a practice squad guy IMO Casey with all his flaws is the third QB.

Ross, is just in a numbers game. He can play and is better than Kolby Smith right now but he fumbles. He could make the team. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Phinesse is gone. He's fun to watch but he's not that fast and isn't a devasting special teams threat. Practice squad at best.

Saying Croyle might be cut might be one of the most braindead things ever said on here.

There is no chance of that, zero, zip, zada. It's so far removed from reality that any semi knowledgeable football fan who reads it immediately recognizes that you don't have the faintest clue about NFL player evaluation or how teams go about determining their roster.
