Anybody going to see this? So far, the reviews have been confirming my suspicions that it sucks. WTF was Zombie thinking remaking this??

Critics rarely like horror films to begin with. What made Zombie's other movies interesting was his focus on the killers. The great early movies (Halloween, FT13th) focussed on the victims. Ever since Silence of the Lambs people want insight on the killers. That's what Zombie is supposedly trying to do in this movie; give you the persepctive of Meyers. It'll probably be typical child abuse, killing pets, etc., but it may still be interesting (on rental).

If it is anything like The Devil's Rejects, I'll pass. That movie stunk.

No director "gets" the white trailer trash mentality quite like Zombie. :)

I saw a trailer to that movie and it looked pretty good. Is it really that bad?

I saw some decent trailers, I'll be going to see it... love horror flicks and I think we get inside the mind of Michael in this one... shows the three phases of Michael as the kid... in the sanitarium and afterwards.

I actually liked Devil's Rejects. It's sick and twisted, but you know that going in.

It's about ten times better than House of 1,000 Corpses, anyway.

Devil's Rejects was a good movie. House of 1000 Corpses blew ass.

Not at all. Just remember what it is - a low budget horror movie.

Saw the movie last night. It was really good. Hated 1000 corpses, and the devils rejects so was a bit sceptical going in. I was pleasantly surprised. Zombie did a great job of getting the audience some insight into Michaels history. Of course the trademark gore and white trash-ness is in there but it adds to the background of how he became what he is. I thought the dialogue and characters made the movie seem more realistic and suspenseful. I also thought he did a good job with some of the shots and the music editing was quite amusing. The plot follows the original for the most part with the extra background info thrown in.
I say go see it, it's definately one of the better horror movies that have been released in a long time.

I enjoyed both House of 1000 corpses and The Devils Rejects. I love horror flicks. I doubt if I go see this at the theaters, it'll be a rental for me.

Their gonna make a sequel with MacDowell and Tyler Mane(Micheal Myers). Zombie won't be involved in that

Agreed. Devil's Rejects was better but House of 1000 Corpses was still an awesome horror flick. I didnt even know Zombie was remaking Haloween, I'll definitely have to check this out.

Horror flicks suck 'cuz you're at the mercy of the director/writer who make(s) crap up just to scare the hell outta you.

My buddy saw it.

Based on his review, I won't be seeing it.

The original Halloween was a masterpiece - IIRC, there wasn't a single drop of blood in the movie.

Based on what my friend told me, this one follows the modern horror format - lowest common denominator, leave nothing to the imagination...

Two points for you. Correct on both accounts.

Yea, i heard its basically, 1 hour and 15 minutes of Michael backstory, and and 45 minute sped up remake of the original.

Ill wait for DVD, but your right, the original is a masterpiece.

He said it was extremely bloody and he felt like it detracted quite a bit from the actual movie.

More sickening than scary...

That's what I'd expect from Rob Zombie.
