Maybe thats why the rumor is that both Printers and Terrell are going to get cut or put on the practice squad.

Big old yes from me.

Would be a blow to Brodie's confidence and practice snaps though.

It's on the news here in Jacksonville. They are having a press conference at 5:30pm EDT to announce that Leftwich will be cut from the team. Jack Del Rio just said last week that he will be the starter. I have seen him play the past few years and he is an ok QB and is definitely better than any QB on our roster.

08-31-2007, 02:53 PM
yes sign him, **** developing our own qb. Theres a reason why we keep going after free agent qbs..we SUCK at developing our own. Get leftwich, rebuild the offensive line, and our rebuilding time will be cut by a lot. we can be competing again by as early as next year

ChiefsFan4Life
08-31-2007, 02:55 PM
Sign him IMMEDIATELY. He's already better than all of our QB's combined. And if we're not going to play Croyle to develop him then there is no comparison between him and Huard.

Good point. The other scenario I see happening, and only because this is the Chiefs, is that they sign him but decide to remain with Huard as the starter! Sad, but completely possible with this mentally challenged front office.

It's Garrard that has the propensity to turn the ball over too much. He really hasn't had many good receivers in Jacksonville besided Jimmy Smith. He is still pretty young and could be "developed".

Basileus777
08-31-2007, 03:03 PM
Lefwich behind this oline would be a disaster. His lack of mobility and slow release would get him killed. Its not a good fit.

**** THESE NAYSAYERS....SIGN HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anything is better than the situation we're in now.

He's 24-20 as a starter, that's better than what we got.

If they do sign him they SHOULD remain with Huard as the starter. Give Leftwich time to learn our play book and get in with the team then have him ready when Huard's "calf injury" flares up.

Leftwich isn't very mobile, but it's not like Huard or Croyle are running 4.3 40's either.

Woodrow Call
08-31-2007, 03:06 PM
Won't happen sadly. Herm IMO is sold on Croyle as the QBOTF and he wont see the need for Leftwich with Damon "Stop-gap" Huard on board.

Plus Leftwich hasn't exactly set the league on fire.

I need to know this before making a commitment on this important matter.

Leftwich's size and strength allows him to throw extremely fast bullet passes and deep balls with ease. He is not very fast and prefers to remain in the pocket regardless of how the offensive line is holding up. His size allows him to bounce off of blitzing linebackers on occasion. He rarely fumbles, and is very smart with the ball, posting one of the best touchdown to interception ratios in the NFL.

Is all this accurate?

Leftwich's mobility isn't great, but its somewhat overstated. His real problem is his long windup release. Huard and Croyle both have much quicker releases than Leftwich.

He couldn't just come here and start right away anyways. To expect a QB to come in and play this season completely missing training camp and the preseason is almost out of the question.

He does have a long release and has a tendency to hold on the ball too long and take sacks. He did turn the ball over quite a bit his first year, but he doesn't throw a lot of pics and has a pretty strong arm. I don't think he could start immediately, but he would be a large improvement over what is on the roster now. He came into the league in 2003 and this year was going to be the last year of his contract. I figured that he would be gone next year because he and Del Rio don't exactly see eye to eye and the fans here hate him(yet they all worship Mark Brunell as if he's Joe Montana). I'm surprised that they cut him now instead of trying to get something out of him.

They're already saying on NFL network that Atlanta is the most likely landing place. Is Atlanta really ready for another black quarterback wearing number 7? Maybe we should trade them Printers....er....wait.

Which is a 55% winning clip.

Huard has played at a 62% winning clip.

Why sign him? Huard or Croyle can hand LJ the ball 30 times per game just as well as anyone.

You guys, are you sober? Have you ever watched that sad sack try and throw the ball to a wide open WR, WITH PROTECTION?

Good lord, you don't just plug a hol,e with any f*ck nut that gets waived for his inability to complete a pass.

I also have watched that jackoff play for the past several years, don't buy the arguments; when he has protection he still can't throw the ball.

however, if you want to sign him for league minimum, try it out okay - but no long term deal for that guy.

Bold move by Del Rio. He swore all offseason Byron was the QB. Risky move with the pressure on Del Rio if the Jags fail this year. Good for the Jags.

Leftwich didn't miss any games his 1st year and missed 2 games in 2004. He played the first 10 games in 2005 before he hurt his ankle on the 1st series of the 11th game. He actually finished that drive which produced a touchdown before coming out of the game. He missed the last 5 regular season games of 2005 before playing the playoff game and played the 1st 6 games in 2006. His ankle had not yet healed in 2006 but Leftwich continued to play with it hurt until Del Rio made Garrard the starter and Leftwich had season ending surgery on his ankle which he had supposedly planned on having after the 2006 season.

Offensive retards on the staff? Agreed.

But some fans ARE to blame. And Carl is to blame for giving a shit what the "fans" think is best for the franchise.

We're talking about the same people who booed Trent Green. The same Trent Green who had thrown for over 4000 yards the previous 3 seasons.

The same fans who booed Croyle in a PS game with it being OBVIOUS that he wasn't the ONLY problem.

Ok.... here's the skinny....

a) Chris Mortensen of BSPN & others saying that Russell will sign by the end of this weekend.

b) NFL Network is reporting that Leftwich is to be traded or released - David Garrard has been the named starter for the season. 5:30 PM EDT news conference scheduled.

c) Sirius radio is reporting that Andrew Walter may be traded to Jacksonville

Russell signs, frees up Walter to replace Leftwich in Jacksonville. I think....
