Doobie Brothers......never knew anyone to hate them, never knew anyone to love them.back in the day, the doobs were happening, baby...

blackwater and jesus is just alright were instant classics...

michael mcdonald was one of the original doobers...

now that was some par-tay music...

years ago i saw them at starlight and they were still amazing...

did some heavy party-ing that night... o:-)

While it's true that Michael McDonald spent some time in the Doobie Brothers, he was not one of the original members.

McDonald came in after the departure of Tom Johnston (the man behind such classics as "Listen to the Music", "China Road" and more). McDonald's addition changed the direction of the band entirely, adding keyboards as a main focus where guitars had previously been the dominate force.

Johnston later rejoined the Doobies after McDonald's departure, which is likely the incarnation you saw at Starlight.

In either era, they were a great band.

I had this great Doobie's bootleg. The sound was great until some fat kid started eating lots of popcorn and he dropped his recorder.
