Over half of the PS players I don't recognize. Talk about flushing out the old and starting anew.
How is it that they have to release Sippio to add Thigpen but are able put guys like Smith on the PS and not the active roster?

Smith wasn't claimed off waivers.

Two spots left. Hannon? Sippio? Ekwerekwu? Phinisee? Printers?

I'm not up on the whole waiver wire system. Is it true that certain players are not "qualified" for the PS?
And once a team places someone on the PS, can any team pilfer them at any time?
Reason I ask was last year when Dunn was placed on the injured list so they could sign some guys off the PS "to keep other teams from doing so".

thanks in advance

There's rules to who can be put on the squad. You can't be on it for more than 3 years, and if you've been on the active roster for a certain amount of games you can't go back to the PS. I think those are the big two.

Guys can be taken off the PS by other teams, but the team taking them has to put the player on their active roster to do so.

• Eligibility: Only players under contract on the 53-man active roster, which is cut to 45 (plus a third quarterback) 90 minutes before kickoff on game day, can play. All players, including those on the practice squad, must be signed to the active roster by 4 p.m. Saturday.

• Pay: Practice-squad players get a minimum of $4,700 a week, and almost all are paid the minimum. If they are signed to the active roster, they are paid on a pro-rated basis at the minimum salary level of $230,000 a year. One week's pay is $13,529, based on a 17-week work schedule.

Practice-squad players are considered free agents and can be signed by any team at any time.

• Practice squad rules: Teams can have a maximum of eight players on the practice squad. The limit was increased by three in 2004. Players credited with two or more NFL seasons are ineligible. There is no restriction for age or last season in college.

Is the 2 NFL seasons thing a new rule, or am I just a moron thinking it was 3?

Harriot is a major F-up if he hasn't matured. He had 1st round talent but really screwed up before the draft last year.

I thought TJ Jackson would be a perfect NT coming out of Auburn last year but I think he went undrafted for some reason.

The League may elect to allow some or all Clubs to add to their practice squads one additional player, who shall not count against the limit above, whose citizenship and principal place of residence are outside the United States and its Territories (“International Player”). The League’s election in any one season shall not determine or affect its election in any subsequent season

Does this mean the Mexitackle doesn't count towards our number.

5/6 of our current practice squad are guys for either the OL or DL. I think that's a pretty bright thing to do.
