View Full Version : So how'd your FF team do this week?

FF forum, please. :(

Did your team do well? Did you win your matchup?

This week, Andre Johnson was an absolute monster for me, sadly. Marshawn Lynch proved that he's a must-start every week with a strong performance against Denver. He's no Adrian Peterson, but I don't expect Peterson to keep up that insane pace all year, while I'd 99 total yards from Lynch with a TD is perfectly realistic on a regular basis. The Chargers defense brought in some good points by shutting down the Bears. And Bulger brought in decent points despite having an off game.

If Bulger performs even halfway decently, my team tops the entire league in scoring.

Out of seven starters (one of which is Gore, playing right now against Arizona), I only had one goat. Santana Moss only had 28 yards receiving while his teammate had 164. Matt Stover, Ravens kicker, turned in an okay performance with two field goals and two extra points.

I have my opponent crushed by 30 points right now, and that's before Gore even had one carry this evening. My opponent's got Fitz on deck, so it's possible he can rack up some points, but this round is as good as mine.

I have three teams. Lost against my GF(ouch) in our league, looks like I'll lose against luv in another which I forgot to update my depth chart, and I will win the other. I hate Plaxico Burress, otherwise I should've won one of my losses. Having Tom Brady and Randy Moss(who I was joked about for taking in the third round) saved my ass in my win. So yeah..

Buckinkaeding got raped by my friend josh in another league. He's rape bait I guess.

Also, I learned I should've taken Frank Gore in two leagues with the 3rd and 4th pick, but instead took LJ in both.

My team did well. I have 109, and Carson Palmer has not been figured in yet. Could have been better. I thought Jerry Porter would have a good game against Detroit, so I played him. He got 2 points. I had Laverneus Coles, who got 17 pts on the bench. :banghead:

Quick question - start TJones @ Baltimore or Dunn (who had 20 carries) against Jacksonville who got shredded by Tenn?

Ack if you start 3 WR's that's bad.....you have an old declining guy and a guy with no QB. The way leagues draft now you should have better RB's than that if AJ is your top WR.

Lynch and Barber should both be 3's.......I guess I'd lean to Bruce at least he has a QB. Barber gets goal line carries so there's that...

Who were your first 5 picks honestly? I hope you have an awesome QB or Te cause it's obvious you took one pretty early.

1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 D
1 K

Just two WRs, no TEs. I went against common wisdom of going RB with my 1-2 and jumped on Bulger in round 2 (for the same reason I jumped on San Diego's D in round 5 -- the elite selections were flying off the shelf so I had to grab a top prospect before they were all taken).

I agree with most of what you said, but I have to assert that Lynch is in a situation where OROY is a likelihood, he racked up 100 total yards his first game in the league, and by my estimation he could topple 1,200 on the ground if the Bills keep giving him 90% of the carries.

4th or 5th?

Palmer, Brady, Manning, Brees, Bulger

I had those gents as top tier and any given year can have superior numbers.

After them I believe the field drops dramatically.

If you took Bulger over any of those guys bad move...and you took a QB to early.

Direckshun
09-10-2007, 11:57 PM
I think that's a fair point.

The reason I took Bulger early was because the other four had been eaten up, and Bulger was sitting there, a guy I considered to be the last remaining top tier QB in the draft.

In my defense, and we've already disagreed on this, but when my pick was up I was debating between Bulger and an RB... Lynch. So when my turn came up and Lynch was still there... it worked out very well according to my draft board.

Thanks to Frank Gore, I have crawled across the finish line. His paltry 14 points to give me a total of 140, the fourth highest in the league, which I desperately needed because my opponent put up a respectable 126.

1-0, but next week looks tougher. Just about all my starters are on the road, and my opponent's got two harbingers of doom on my horizon: Indy's D will be at home against the Titans and Worthlessberger is going to shred the Bills.

I think that's a fair point with Westbrook, but Peterson's in RBBC in Minnesota with Chester Taylor.

He sure put up amazing numbers this week, though. I think he produced more than any other fantasy back, didn't he?

My main concern was that the dropoff after Bulger was steeper than any dropoff at RB. I'd put Lynch on the same plane as Westbrook or Peterson in Minnesota's RBBC scheme.

Mecca
09-11-2007, 12:53 AM
I wouldn't.....Peterson is going to be the starter, that's lip service. Westbrook is in a good offense too and gets receiving yards.

In one of mine I went LT, Maroney and Peterson with my first 3....then I waited on QB and got Hasselbeck. You can be fine with a guy like that or Romo as long as you have the backs.

But, and this might be harkening to some of my fantasy ignorance, if you look at the numbers this week, RBs aren't putting up numbers like QBs are.

Worthlessberger, Manning... these guys are putting up 50-pointers. Hell, top-end WRs produced the most points of all and are blowing the top-end RBs away. Burress, Moss, AJ, etc.

I scored around 100 and won, thanks to Plaxico. I don't believe in drafting WRs before round 5, they are a dime a dozen.

Willie Parker, Reggie Bush, and Thomas Jones were all worthless, Bulger underperformed, Santana Moss disappearred, but Berrian and Winslow did alright.

Baltimore's D and Akers were passable.

You start multiple RB's. You start one QB. Two solid RBs will always outpace a good QB over the long haul. WR's don't receive enough touches or targets to make them more valuable than a solid RB.

I guarantee you that the guy who drafted Peyton Manning in the first round in your league won't win, but a guy who picked Jon Kitna or Donovan McNabb from rounds 5-7 and loaded up on solid RBs, will win.

In my long standing, ridiculous 3 player keeper league, I got annihilated.

The year the league started, I had to talk down the majority from keeping 4 players, and have been trying to get them to cut it down to at least 2 ever since. Because of injuries and retirements, this year I was counting on Brees, Jacobs and Maroney...who produced a massive 7.5 points in week one.

In my money league, I steamrolled my opponent. Then again, I expected to considering the other goons let Gore fall to me at #9.

Got butchered in both leagues. The money league I played a guy who had virtually no RBs but a strong reciever core (Harrison, Holt and Ward) and Romo to top that of. Both my RBs (Jackson and Bush) bombed and I got my ass handed to me.

The sheer quality of the running backs that you were able to stockpile in a keeper league like that is ridiculous. Every one of those guys, save Brandon Jackson and Turner, should have been gone in the first 2 1/2 rounds. Plus, you still got two of the top 10 receivers.

Did everyone go QB and Def crazy??? That's just f'ed up, man.

I've got an interesting trade idea.

A guy is willing to trade Chris Brown of the Titans for a WR.

I was thinking of offering him Santana Moss.

His RB/WR - Benson, Ronnie Brown, Fred Taylor, Jerious Norwood, Selvin Young, Boldin, Houshmanzadeh, Hackkett.

My WR/RB - Colston, TJones, Addai, Branch, Moss, Mohammed, Horn, Santana Moss, Dunn, ATrain, Buckhalter.

Seem fair?

Eh. The person's a big Rams fan. His starting QB was Eli Manning, Garcia was his fallback.

I think I can get him to bite on Bulger.

Honestly, I liked Bulger, but I openly admitted I took him early. I just considered him an elite WR, but now that he's lost Pace I think he falls back into the rest of the pack. So maybe I can trade him for someone who's desperate/homerish enough to bite. The dude's got a loaded WR corps.

Ugh you took Benson, I was only going to take him if it was after round 7 and he was my 3rd or 4th RB.

Well, he's going to be taking all the reps this year. And they got rid of Jones. I figured he'd be prime for a breakout season, and the way Grossman throws interceptions, I figured Lovie would Herm it and pound the shit outta Benson giving him alot of TDs. Still might work out, their defense is going to force alot of turnovers deep in the opponents own territory.

Direckshun
09-13-2007, 12:43 AM
Speaking of Benson.

I'm revamping my team and I've been in a trading mode. I've got a series of trades set up that I haven't pulled the trigger on yet. It all depends on what I can get for Bulger.

Do you trade Bulger: Straight-up for Thomas Jones? Straight up for Cedric Benson? Straight up for Chad Johnson?
If I can trade Bulger for one of those RBs, should I trade Marion Barber and J.P. Losman for Matt Hasselbeck?

If I can trade Bulger for Chad Johnson, should I trade Santana Moss and Losman for Hasselbeck?

Inquiring minds what to know. Expertise appreciated.

Ultimately, I want to replace Bulger with Hasselbeck and spruce up either my WR or RB corps in the meantime. (For backup QB, I'll likely put DJ Hackett on IR and acquire Alex Smith, who's still available.)

Bulger had a huge game. Barber ran for 80 and two TDs. Gore ran for 80 and two TDs. Andre Johnson is unstoppable. Matt Stover did fine, and the Jax D shut down Atlanta.

I am in several pay leagues, one of them I lost a game by 12 points, which is not out of the ordinary - heh but, consider this, David Akers kicked 4 Field Goals last night, none of them at or over 40 yards long and only 1 of them in the 30s, and the dude who started him got 24 points for those 4 little field goals, losing me the game.

Am I out of line by thinking that's whacked out?
