Damn, I forgot to start the MIAA thread this year.

Central had a good win today against a dangerous Truman State squad. The Mules defense looks like the real deal.

Northwest has the ball, up 14-0 against Mo West in the 1st. Northwest looks like thier on a mission, despite playing numerous backups, including backup QB Joel Osborn. Northwest suffered a lot of key injuries last week @ UNO and lost the game in the 4th. If NW can get healthy, they should be the force that people predict them to be.

Pitt State is currently in a battle w/ Mo Southern, who has Allan Brussard, a transfer RB from LSU(!), gaining mad yards on the Gorilla D.

Nope, they moved out a few years ago.

TD, Northwest. 28-0 in the 2nd quarter. Backup QB Joel Osborn to backup WR and high school teammate Appelgate.

Mo West returns the kick into NW territory, though.

Omon is still the running back? Seems like he's been there forever.

Mo West scores on a pass from Drew Newhart. 28-7 NW leading in the 2nd quarter.

My updates are finished for the night :( Go NW, and I'll be back here later tonight.

Yup, this is his senior season. He tied Central's Keegan Coleman today for all time leader in MIAA scoring. What a career. It'd be nice to give him a Harlan Hill award to close it out, but he'll never win it over Danny Woodhead.

ESU is on top of the MIAA? That won't last long. Unless things have changed in Hornet land.

Either way...GO ESU!

Today was a very, very interesting one in the MIAA conference.

Northwest Missouri <strike>beats</strike> completely destroys what many thought to be a dangerous Truman State team. The score was 53-10. 3rd and 4th stringers played the majority of the second half for NW.

Central proved that their defense is for real, beating Washburn 28-14.

Emporia St. stays unbeaten.

Mo West, who got slaughtered in St. Joe last week by the NW Bearcats, came into Carney Smith Stadium in Pittsburg, KS and beats Pitt St. 39-32.

Mo West's young QB, Drew Newhart from Cameron, impresses again. This is a dangerous young offense that should be utterly explosive next season. Impressive win for the school -- their first @ Pitt since 1984!

Pitt's defense looks as bad as last years. The Gorillas suddenly find themselves in a must-win game next week, even at 3-1 on the season, against a confidant Central Missouri squad. It's "must win" for them because the following weeks is the Fall Classic at Arrowhead vs Northwest Missouri State.

With Northwest roughing up Mo West last week, only to see the Griffs put up 319 rushing yards (!!!) against Pitt, I have every confidence that NW will crush Pitt in KC again this year en route to a conference title. NW, even with that ugly looking loss to UNO, appears to be the class of the MIAA this year by degrees. Especially after thier complete team victory today. Chalk up the game against Central as the only game NW has to be truly worried about before the playoffs.

Another friggin' weird day in the MIAA conference.

After Mo West upsets Pitt State last week at CSS, they fall this week to Washburn, final score 31-24 Ichabods.

Truman bounces back from last week's drubbing at the hands of Northwest to beat Fort Hays State 26-11.

Missouri Southern beats the previously undefeated Emporia State 42-19.

Pitt State abuses the option play and finds a weakness in the Central Missouri defense. The Gorillas win 38-31.

Northwest Missouri absolutely <strike>manhandled</strike> obliterated Southwest Baptist. Seriously, the starters were pulled before half time. The 4th and 5th stringers played much of the 2nd half. The score? 86-13! Eighty six points! Dear Lord!

Next Sat. is the Fall Classic at Arrowhead between Pitt State and Northwest Missouri State. I'd love to say that its going to be a great game, but it isnt. Pitt State's rush defense is terrible beyond words. Northwest is probably going to rush for over 400 yards as a team against them.

Suck it, Western.
I have no idea what to think about Washburn this year. Some weeks they look like the 3rd or 2nd best team in conference, and others they lose in a pathetic sort of effort.

They always have the talent to scare me, but man are they schizophrenic this year.

Oh, I'm willing to be dollars-to-donuts that Easterbrook, in his Monday Morning QB column on espn.com, will call out Northwest and Coach Mel as classless for running up the score. He's done the same to Pitt State more than three times. He doesn't bother to do his homework, so he figures that the starters are still in the game passing in the 4th quarter.

Truth is, the 4th and 5th stringers for NW put up 23 points in the 4th quarter. But no, Easterbrook is going to be his usual idiotic self once again.
