Barring a miraculous recovery by Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, Kelly Holcomb will get the start for at least one week.

People with knowledge of the situation said the 11-year veteran got the most work with the first team during Wednesday's practice at Winter Park.

When we really seem to have problems is when the starter gets taken out and we face a QB we haven't practiced for. I was worried that would happen this week but since we know about it ahead of time, we should be fine.

Well, no, he doesn't kick our ass every week. Just when he plays against us.

Holcomb is in trouble, he's not going to save the day for the Queens.

This is a VERY angry team, with a solid D, in its first home game...as long as we tackle Peterson every time he even LOOKS at the ball, we should get this one.

I cant see their WR's burning our secondary.

So it's Holcomb instead of the inexpeienced Jackson.

I guess when it rains it pours.

Not good. Gun has a bad habit of playing poorly in recent years against the "backup" QB.

Its the rusty, hasnt played with the first unit very much Holcomb.

I'd rather see a big stationary target like him back there for us to tee off on, than a guy who can make plays out of the pocket like Jackson.

I hope Jarod gives him a pounding this weekend!!

First time starting in Arrowhead QBs do not fare well. Brady may have beaten the Chiefs in his first Arrowhead start. Philip Rivers looked rather frustrated :)

Exactly, we are not going to see a repeat of Holcomb teeing off on the 32 defense. The defense has changed and Holcomb is not going to be sharp.

With a slow Holcomb, the return of Allen, and an Arrowhead season opener we could see some purple blood on the field.

Holcolmb is left handed. He can see Allen coming.

So has Jake Plummer, big deal.

Which means he'll be distracted after just about every snap.

Or more importantly he will know how much time he has before dumping it off.

He'll see JA, but having him back should mean that Holcomb wont see Tamba comin' round the bend.

When was the last time the Chiefs played against Holcoumb? 2002? Against GRobs D with such future HOF'ers like Bartee, Hicks and Warfield??

That's what I was thinking. This is not the career day defense any more.

I think the last time I used Holcomb in a sentance on the planet it went something like this...

There the Chiefs go again making a back up look like the 2nd coming of Joe M...!

Crazy I know but inside I feel we just lost our 1st home game of the yr..when a day ago I thought we might win.

A day ago I thought we might score 13 points..Viks 10

Now I'm not so sure...sigh
