Anyone have one? How do you like it?
I'm seriously considering picking one up. 95% of the reviews I've read have been very good.
You can't beat the price, and it comes with several movies. :hmmm:
(Talking myself into spending money I probably shouldn't.)

This is gonna be like the competition back in the 80's with VHS I guess?!?!?Well, from what I understand Paramount is HD-DVD only now. That, the free movies, and the $179.00 price tag are enough to make me take my chances.
It doesn't really seem like the "format war" will end any time soon.

Well, I couldn't resist. I went to Best Buy, because I'm impatient... so I only get 6 free movies instead of 8.
King Kong came with it, and I have to send off for the other 5.
I also picked up "We are Marshall", "The Chronicles of Riddick". and " The Unforgiven"
Looks like it'll be a movie night.

I liked we are marshall.I've never seen it, or "Unforgiven".
I was just looking for stuff with good visuals, really. Western, Sci-fi, and Football.
I'll probably pick up the "Planet Earth" set sometime, too.

Amazon had this for $139 yesterday. I didn't see it until it had already expired though.

Eh, who am I kidding. I probably wouldn't have ordered it anyway.
Ordering things online messes up the whole "impulse buy" thing.

Yeah, id go with the Planet Earth set as well. I got in the Toshiba HD DVD player screw up awhile back. Where i got 3 movies from amazon and the dvd player for $210 also the 5 free movie rebate. I ended up getting 300, The Departed, and TMNT on that deal. I since have bought Batman Begins and King Kong. I've watched TMNT, BB, and King Kong so far and stunning picture and sound, love it! I would definetly buy HD DVDS that have great effects etc and stick to reg. dvds otherwise cause of the costs. I got the HDMI cable to upconvert my player for the reg. dvds so im set. Great buy for sure.

Ultimately, the format war will come down to price, recording and pr0n, just like the last one did.
HD-DVD has been more supportive of the porn industry, which is a big boon for them (and was critical for VHS' success). It's also cheaper.

I really don't care who wins. In fact I basically skipped the entire regular DVD era. I only bought 4 movies on DVD.

And it only costs $750 :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
