Threw a pass into a defender while hopping backwards? Dropped the ball while trying to throw then standing there and looking at it? Threw a handful of short dump off passes? Threw three incomplete passes into the endzone? Made an easy pass to a wide open Parker with 0:00 on the clock in garbage time?

I'm all for letting him start next week and play a full game, but he scares me with some of the stuff he does.

I'm not saying he did great, but damnit there MAY be an upside. We know there's no upside in Hutard.

Nah, Huard has his 15 minutes last season. And I know it was Croyle's big moment, and he was just making some rookie mistakes that can and will hopefully be fixed with time, but there was nothing exciting about what he did today. Some people are acting like his big TD drive was some amazing feat.

One thing that'll be interesting to see, is if we still run a bunch of short passes like we were with Huard. Herm said that's what Huard wanted, but when Croyle came out I didn't see much change in the game plan..

And I also don't think Huard is really hurt...

Especially with his ability to get the ball where Huard can't and Bowe's great hands. That spells starter to me.

EXACTLY!! This O-Line isn't giving very much time to get rid of the ball. Brodie gets it out of his hand a hell of a lot faster than Huard. I don't expect playoffs with this Oline and LJ not seeming to look for the holes and hitting them like he used to. So let the kid take a few lumps and be ready to rock it out in 2008!!

Please. Damon went 4-0 against the shitty NFC West, and 1-3 against decent teams. He was humiliated by Pittsburgh, and I think I saw him crying like a little bitch in Miami.

Should I also mention that he had about 8 interceptions that were dropped by baffled defensive backs, who had a "he threw it right to me?" look on their faces?

This is a terrible move. There's no reason to get rid of an old Pro-Bowl quarterback to start an old guy who's never had a starting gig in the NFL in his 11 years. At least, if we play Brodie this year we'll know if we need to draft another QB early next year or not.

Don't forget Huard fumbles the ball every other time he is hit. I have no interest in starting a guy who is more fumble prone than Aaron Brooks, or Dante Culpepper. He will be exposed.

Secondly, Thursday night we had two first year starters at LT and QB, gee I wonder what the problem was?

Awesome, I look forward to a long season of fumbles and whining, and moving for a QB next year.

I don't think Huard will give us a better chance to win. Bring up last season all you want, but the 2007 season is going to be played in the future. I watched Huard play, I know what he brings. The chances of him performing like he did last year and defenders dropping all the gifts he threw to them are about 1/1,000,000.

We're just putting off the inevitable. It think it's stupid that Huard barely played during this 'competition' and won it by default because of that fact. When Huard did play so far, he was horrid.

Not to mention... I like him even less after watching that 3rd Hard Knocks episode... The guy is a whiner. I hate whiners.

Huard threw in inaccurate interception, and overthrew a sure TD to running back who was all of 10 yards away from him... actually, both of those passes were 10 yard passes to WIDE OPEN RECIEVERS

Even drafting a QB is stupid for KC, because we won't let them play.

Mark my words: Chiefs fans will be calling for Damon to be benched by week 4, guaranteed. He got lucky last season, and only played well when Trent was calling his plays. Am I the only one who noticed that he played WORSE than Brodie in his two preseason appearances? He also posted a lower QB rating.

Seriously. Is there anyone here that is under the impression that Brodie wouldn't have had five or six turnovers today? It would have been ugly.

I see your point and I agreed with your logic at first, but now after 5 games we're sitting below .500 even with Huard.

If Croyle is the QBoTF, when would you put him in? The beginning of next season? Or is it your opinion that Croyle will never be "the guy"?

Herm took the chance with Brodie on 4th down with a shut out in the balance. That sounds like handing the keys to the car to me.

If you don't think the Jags wanted the shut out you're dumber than a box of rocks.

The Bengals horrible d at home is great for Croyle's first start.

Also after listening to Herm's presser I love how he doesn't commit at all to Huard starting next week.

You have to run block if we expect to win in the NFL.

We have to throw the ball downfield. Those 15-30 yard pass plays to start the game were great but then we went back to the 2-6 yard pass play. In a sense using it as our running game.

To spread an NFL defense out to where your WR's can work the gaps and holes you have to throw the ball downfield. How many throws were to Bowe in the first half? You have to give your playmakers a chance to make a play.

Putting Croyle in won't solve our run blocking problem and poor play calling. But Huard ain't the same as last year either.

Give the kid a chance. I'm in.

Croyle should play. I don't think it's going to change much since you need to run the ball and be able to stop the run to win in the NFL.

Comments on Croyle against Jax.
1. Great arm strength and accuracy.
2. He stares down his receiver. Defenders were reading his throws, but he got away with it because of his arm strength.
3. He doesn't have much touch on his balls.

I've been yelling for Brodie to start since the beginning. I was exited at the game to see Brodie get to play and do what he is going to do a lot of score Touchdowns!!!

Teams do not respect our passing game with Huard and they stack the line to stop LJ & they know we are going to try the playaction but we don't have a running game to scare them so the playaction does not work and basically we suck with our O-line. Croyle can step in and put some zip on the ball and force the other team to respect our pass then our team can start running the ball.

I was at the game, had fun, I cheered for our team and even Huard but they disappointed me so I had to boo them in the 3-4 quarters.

Putting Croyle in would send a message that we are building for a championship and if you want to be apart of it then make plays and do your job, if you don't like it then go away we don't need you.

I don't think a change in QB will ever be the answer for a Herm-led team. I predicted Croyle taking over after 2-6 start. However, it's gotta be a good thing to get him as many reps as possible. Just don't expect wins THIS year. Give the guy time to mature. Fans have been wanting to groom a QB for years. But are they ready for what that really means? We'll see.

If croyle locks up on a receiver, we can legitimately chalk that up to his lack of experience. But if a 34 year old veteran does it (like he did all yesterday) there's no excuse. I do like Huard, mind you, but only as a dependable backup.

San Diego wasn't exactly playing that hard at that point in the game.

Like I said, I definitely think he should be starting over Huard. However, better than bad does not equal good.

I think you mean Jacksonville wasn't playing that hard.

Also, I disagree with that statement. Jacksonville was wanting the shutout...bad. They were not letting up. Croyle did not just get a garbage td.

Croyle should have taken every single snap this year...we'd be in the exact same place, but he would have experience and would already be a better QB....

but we're grooming a Vet so we can wield the worst offense in the league....

Agreed. Starting a below average, 11 year vet benchwarming QB is not the best plan for the future.

Despite this game, i'm atleast excited about SOMETHING...the Croyle Era Dawns.

He can zip it all over the yard & proved it over and over again today.

Pick schmick, had he started...we win this game.

I'm in! That was the most fun I have had watching the Chiefs offense this whole season. Priest and Croyle made this offense look like a real offense for the first time in a long time.

gochiefs and DFB can apply, but will be under close watch. Plus, it's hilarious to have former St. Huard supporters which will get the asterisk beside their names as former Downfield Damon backers.

As much as I've supported Huard, he didn't look anything this year like he did last year. Last year's TD/INT numbers (11-1) were his saving grace, but that has certainly fallen off.

f*ck it, bring in the kid.
