Jericho-Austin has been my thinking for about a month now. It's the only thing that makes sense. Jericho's one of the few guys Austin would trust, and Austin's one of the only two names who are both big enough for the angle and capable of being there.

It's gotta be Austin. IT'S JUST GOTTA BE.

Jericho challenges Flair for "next week", not for WrestleMania.

Next week's show is in Texas.

Flair comes out, does the "I have too much respect for God and my country to come out of retirement" speech, but says he knows someone who wants to shut Jericho's mouth.

GLASS BREAKS STONE COLD OH HELL YEAH

Or Jerry Lawler jumps into the ring and I kill myself.

LOL Koko

If Cowboy Bob had leaped out of a guest bedroom and hit Hunter with his cast, it would have been the single greatest thing of all time.

Yesterday, Kizarny had a blog (which has already been taken down) on WWE Universe where he (jokingly, I think) said one of his goals was to convince Vince McMahon to dress up as Doink the Clown and then they can go after tag team gold. I guess Vince must not have been impressed. He also said he wanted to have all the gold in WWE. So much for that.http://i40.tinypic.com/2mebklk.gif

I listened to it hours ago, so my memory might be off, but I am pretty sure he made it clear that he doesnt have any idea if its true. Just that its what everyone says.

He also didnt seem to have any idea on if Austin is going to be the opponent for Jericho, just to throw that out. They did note that Raw is in Texas but nothing about the date being 3/16, which is a pretty big coincidence if nothing else.

As reporter earlier, the woman who appeared on RAW last night playing the role of Randy Orton's wife Samantha was actually a Playboy playmate named Laura Croft. She was Miss July 2008 and is from the Jacksonville area (the site of last night's RAW), a good indication that the Triple H breakin angle took place somewhere in Florida and not Orton's hometown of St. Louis, as WWE indicated on television.

-- The police officers involved in angle were developmental talents Matt Walsh and Michael Hutter, according to PWInsider.com. WWE shot multiple takes of certain scenes the home invasion angle.

MVP is the only guy I can see as being a legitimate "star in the making" who also hasn't already won the match, but I don't know if they have the slightest clue what they're going to do with him in the next year.

Christian doesn't fit the mold (and I think he's probably viewed as having an upper midcard ceiling), Kane doesn't need it, Kofi's nowhere near ready, and Shelton? Nnnnnno.

But I don't see Vince shelling out what it would take to make it happen. Just imagine, though, it's wrestlemania, they've set up something like Jericho/Lawler, but out of the blue we get a reversal of Jericho's first appearance on Raw...

It's been hilarious. Vince is melting down. Apparently Mark Henry got what was supposed to be Big Show's spot in the ladder match. So it was originally going to be just Cena and Edge, not a three way. HHH/Orton has been a clusterfuck, god knows where that goes this week. It HAS felt kind of forced this year. In years past, the buildup to Wrestlemania has had a sort-of flow to it. This year, I cannot say that there is anything going on that I am eager to see a resolution of. Though the Taker/Michaels match looks like it will be quality, nothing else is really standing out to me.

TNA is really floundering around, especially with the whole MEM thing. Sting has never been, nor will he ever be, a viable heel wrestler. The fans just refuse to accept him as a heel. And it has, in essence, worked out that the old guys (Jarrett, Angle, Sting, Steiner, Booker, Foley) are the ones dominating the show, with nothing even vaguely entertaining going on with the young talent.

Where are the high-flying, extreme rules, insane matches that actually set TNA apart from WWE for awhile? Now, TNA is looking more and more like the retirement league.

Test is dead.
We don't have details, but there are multiple reports that Andrew "Test" Martin passed away earlier today at his condo in Tampa.

Martin was four days shy of his 34th birthday.

Police in Tampa confirmed a death in the condo but wouldn't identify the name, but numerous sources within wrestling have confirmed it was him. No details as to the death were reported.

Martin last wrestled with WWE in February, 2007, when he was released after failing a drug test. He worked a few weeks with TNA but the company decided against hiring him. He had of late worked some tours for Nu Wrestling Evolution, and most recently had worked in Japan on shows promoted by Leon "Vader" White.

Just as someone on here said when he started making since that didn't fit in thief format so they cut himboff. Nice one way reporting. Kind of reminds me of the bobby knight jermey shapp interview. Where bobby tried to answer questions but jeremy kept interupting him. He just wanted bobby to admit what he had done but bobby wouldn't. After the constant berage of questions bobby gave one of those trademark smirks and said, " Jermey you got a long way to go to be like your dad". Classic. I love when the interviewee knows more than the interviewer.

A neighbor saw through his window that he was motionless for hours and called police, who broke in and found him dead. A preliminary autopsy has not been completed. I had that same thought earlier tonight. Its sad, really.

They killed all of Orton's momentum which could carry the company, completely buried two guys that he helped build into legitimate midcarders who could eventually transition into bigger and better things all for HHH's ego again.

They burned all of Jericho's mojo over one of the greatest year's any heel has ever had for pure assholish behavior

They are giving prime space to JBL and Mysterio, and they put three sloths in MITB, while their best talent is either miscast, or horribly underutilized.

I had two friends who watched the first 20 minutes of Smackdown w/ me on Friday who hadn't watched wrestling in over 8 years.

When they saw MNM their first reaction was "those guys look like fags", then followed by "I really like those guys' moves".

They shouldn't be burning Cena-Edge in a triple threat. It's a waste.

Of course, the logical build was for Cena-Orton and Edge-Hardy, but there's no way HHH isn't getting his ME Mania spot...it's just sickening.

The only thing that is working is Shawn-Taker.

You can't logically build any match with HHH because there's no way he's going to be cleanly pinned.

Ehhfifurdyfhapudab. What? Since when does a clean pin factor into whether the build-up for a match is logical?

Also, hello, HHH hasn't won a match at WrestleMania in like six years.

I haven't watched wresting in years... but I did tune in last night, and well... WM will truly suck. I agree with most of what you guys have said.

What is with this Vicki thing? Does she have dirt on Vince and is putting her mug on camera his way of paying her off? Seriously - she's worthless and the story lines for WM are very lame.

I'm glad I don't watch as much anymore... there's no way that HBK should defeat 'Taker... I mean, if he snaps the streak a year after the Flair thing... just not right.

It matters if a face like Hardy is going up against him, because they aren't going to turn Jeff Hardy heel.

Just for a point of clarification:

Since HHH has come back from his second injury, he has the following clean losses:

A flash rollup to Jeff Hardy that he laughed about immediately after it happened in the ring.

A LMS match against Orton when he was on his third match of the night.

Now, contrast that to your other ME level faces:

Cena has been pinned numerous times in the same period
Batista has been pinned numerous times
Hardy has been pinned numerous times
Michaels has been pinned numerous times
Hell, even Taker has been pinned cleanly by both HHH and fucking Kozlov of all people.

You can't just keep feeding the entire roster to one guy who isn't a draw and have him bury all the heels on a weekly basis and expect it not to have ramifications for how the entire brand operates.

In the ideal Hardy/HHH scenario, HHH would have been Jeff Hardy's attacker, and thus the heel. The first attack on Hardy kept him out of a title match where he was challenging HHH, coming right after Hardy beat HHH on TV (a loss you left off your list, incidentally.)

The setup would have made a ton more sense than Matt as the attacker, and would have been a much bigger money angle than Christian doing it.

I was at the ROH show when Joe made his "one-time" appearance to wrestle Tyler Black a little while back. He gave a short promo after the match and you could tell that he REALLY wanted to slam the living shit about TNA but was forcibly restraining himself. We'll see how well the HDNet show is received. I know the wrestling being showcased will be great, hopefully it reaches enough people and isn't WSX part deux.

Really good lineup of wrestlers, but terribly produced with the matches cut down so much.

I think Lacey had a kid because she "disappeared" as part of an ROH angle and reappeared about 8 months later and looked like she had put on a little bit of weight. She was still cute as hell, just looked a little more healthy.

Not a fan of these announcers.Prazak's way toned down, and the football guy they brought in for PBP is definitely still learning. He sounds professional, but he doesn't have the timing and oftentimes he just sort of states what happened after the fact instead of being in (and a part of) the moment. His pin calls and big move calls are pretty forced, but I'm guessing he'll get better if the show does well and he gets more experience. I like Durden backstage (though it kind of feels detached and lonely back there), and one nice thing about ROH is that there are a ton of good talkers (especially for an indy).

I don't really like the production decisions to have so much graphical information overload; the pre-match promos are kind of old school, so they're fine, but the histories should be played there so the intros aren't squashed into a box in the corner -- it's HD, I want to see them in their full glory with a banner displaying their name and maybe one tidbit below that. Oh, and the "The 1...2...3!!!" subtitle for those background bits is super lame.

So, those are my thoughts 20 minutes in. And Kenny King rules.

Whoa, a commercial break? Sweet, a history segment! Joe when Joe wasn't... whatever the fuck he is now.

Well, that was easily the best wrestling show I've seen this week. I mean, that's not saying much, but it was a really solid first outing.

The cheese factor is pretty high with the graphics and on-the-job training commentary (not to mention that '80s infomercial style "I'm Tom Bosley and I'm standing in front of a <strike>green screen</strike> bank of monitors" opening), and the sound could use some better mixing (where did the crowd noise go after Black got the pin? Did they have to edit in the awful generic music?), but it felt a lot like an old school wrestling show with a very nice product in the ring.

Being an ROHbot, of course I liked the show a lot. Lynn/Delirious was a nice opener and I thought it was cool that they mentioned that Delirious used to be allied with Jimmy Jacobs. When they taped the shows, he was still allied with Jacobs, so getting it up to date keeps the show somewhat in line with the dvds timeline-wise as Delirious just turned on Jacobs. It was interesting that Callahan got time on the first tv show, albeit as a glorified jobber. Titus and Albright went a little too long, but they are trying to build Titus up as more than just a jobber. The main event was a great TV match and it was given a decent amount of time.

I'll say this, it's nice that ROH can put out a very entertaining first show while leaving about 80% of its upper card on the sidelines (Danielson, McGuinness, Steenerico, Briscoes, Castagnoli, Aries, Hero, etc.). It shows how deep their roster really is, especially for an Indy.

For the media: TWO MORE DEAD WWE STARS!

Originally posted by F4W:

Former regional and WWF tag star passes away

Steve Doll, best known as part of the tag team of the Southern Rockers, passed away earlier today at the age of 44.

Little details are available, although he had a major health scare a few years ago, and was taken off life support systems today.

Doll & Scott Peterson were the most popular tag team in the Pacific Northwest promotion of the 80s. Later, Rex King (Mark Smith) replaced Peterson on the team. Doll & Smith were used as a prelim tag team in the WWF in 1993 under the name Well Dunn. Smith wrestled as Timothy Well and Doll s Steven Dunn.

With King, they held the USWA tag team titles five times and the Northwest tag team titles four times.

This is one bad week for the wrestling business

Andres Palomeque, better known as Abismo Negro in AAA, was apparently found dead in a river in Mexico. He was 37.
. . .
He became Abismo Negro in 1997, and was on the 1997 Royal Rumble show in San Antonio that drew 60,000 fans to the Alamo Dome and wrestled on a few episodes of Raw that year.

He also worked as part of Team Mexico in the 2004 World X cup tournament for TNA.

Throughout his career he was plagued by drug problems, and had a reputation for no-showing events.

Well Dunn was ok, but unfortunately the tag team scene in the WWF at the time was loaded with GREAT teams. RIP.

This weekend at the 7th Anniversary shows, two ROH stars came back home. The first was Jimmy Rave, as they are recreating the Embassy stable with Prince Nana as the manager. And the second was the one and only recently future-endeavoured Colt Cabana. Welcome home, Colt.

Now ROH just needs Paul London to come back home and the talent roster will be ridiculous, which is good because I can see WWE and/or TNA grabbing away guys like Nigel McGuinness and Claudio Castagnoli in the next year or so.

Yeah, it was a great heel group with Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelley, Prince Nana, sometimes Abyss. Right now it is Prince Nana, Jimmy Rave, Bison Smith (big dude who has been in NOAH for awhile) and Dirty Ernie Osiris as the "flagbearer" (he's a former ROH student).

Great heel factions are always good for a wrestling promotion. Face factions I don't care so much about, but strong heel factions are a must.
