Well, you usually have heel champs at WM who drop the belt to a face. I don't know if they could keep his heat all the way through WM 24, and at the same time, I don't know if they would have him win it, then drop it at No Way Out, and then have the heel drop it again.

Could Orton have a 6 month reign?? Perhaps, but not likely.

The Nasty Boys' triumphant return! LMAO

Former WWF and WCW World Tag Team champions The Nasty Boys, Jerry Saggs and Brian Knobbs worked their first WWE match in many years in a dark match at last night's Smackdown taping in Tampa, Florida that was said to have been an absolute disaster, leaving a ton of heat on the Nastys and possibly causing a ripple effect that nearly screwed up the live broadcast of ECW on the same taping.

The Nastys treated the dark match like they were huge stars coming back. They took forever to even get in the ring because they spent so much time interacting with friends and family members sitting ringside. Brian Knobbs entered the ring with his back to the hard camera. Jerry Saggs then got in the ring "literally right next" to opponents Drew McIntye and Dave Taylor, "leaving them looking like idiots" according to one source.

One WWE performer called the dark match "one of the all time worst things you could ever hope to see. It was abysmal."

Another source believed that the Nastys taking so long actually screwed up the flow of the taping. The Smackdown taping didn't end up until 9:54 PM, leaving the WWE crew only six minutes to rush and change over the set and ring for the live ECW on Sci Fi broadcast. I have not confirmed that with additional sources, but one person who was live in the building described the ring crew as being "frenzied to finish" after the end of the Smackdown aspect of the show. Why did it have to be Public Enemy who died? Why not them instead?

Also there will never be a wrestling show in Georgia ever again...

Read the funniest thing ever, the proposed wrestling rules from the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission. It was the weirdest thing you ever saw, this strange mix of work and shoot, and it made for fabulous reading. The money issues are going to really hurt the indies in the area. Promoters must get licensed; provide a $10,000 security bond; notify the commission of the time, date and location of an event at least ten days in advance; pay the 5% of gross revenue within ten days of the conclusion of the event; and have a physician at ringside, an ambulance and 2 EMTs on hand.

As far as rules, "Wrestlers MAY NOT deliberately cut themselves and all wrestlers must be over (18) years of age"; "No one under the age of 18 is allowed in any area of the venue other than their seat except when accompanied by a guardian"; they must pay $100 for a commission representative to be present (!!!); they have to announce changes to the advertised card before the show starts and offer refunds; wrestlers can not physically or verbally threaten any member of the audience. There were all sorts of rules about what guys can and cannot wear. Your gear must be clean. I'd have been kicked out Chikara Sunday. You may wear 2 pairs of trunks one over the other.

No grease, lotion or foreign substances on the body. Female wrestlers must wear trunks and a top. "The inspector present at the event may disallow the use of inappropriate attire or disqualify a wrestling participant for the lack of appropriate attire." YOU MUST HAVE REAL GEAR. You also must have your fingernails trimmed close. There are lots of instructions about the barriers required. It's like God giving Noah the blueprints for the ark. And then we get to the fun stuff, a legitimate RULEBOOK OF WRESTLING. Matches have a maximum 60 minute time limit. A wrestling contest shall be determined by one fall or best of three falls. "A fall is scored by a wrestler when the wrestler’s opponent has both shoulders touching the mat for a count of three (3) seconds. The referee shall signal the wrestler scoring a fall by immediately slapping the mat." Someone clearly got confused when writing these rules. A two minute rest period is allowed between falls.

Also, it's now a TEN COUNT in Georgia for breaking a hold, not five. That's extreme. You can't inhibit breathing by covering the nose and mouth at the same time. "Unsportsmanlike or physically dangerous conduct" -- not allowed. If you keep it up, you must be disqualified. No blading, but you may use blood capsules. Seriously. "If a wrestler refuses or is physically unable to continue a match, the match shall be ended and the decision awarded to the wrestler’s opponent." Ever wondered what a tag match is? Well, it's "a contest between two (2) teams each composed of two (2) or more wrestlers." Let's get more specific: "A tag team contest shall be conducted as follows: The contest shall begin with one (1) wrestler from each team inside the ring while the respective partners remain outside the ring on the apron; The wrestler(s) outside the ring may not enter the ring unless a fall is scored or his/her partner has tagged his/her hand; In order to be eligible to receive a tag, the wrestler’s partner shall be outside the ring on the apron in the proper corner with both feet on the ring apron and only receive the tag over the top ring rope;

When the tag is made, the wrestler making the tag shall leave the ring as the partner enters the ring; Only two (2) wrestlers from opposing teams shall be permitted to be in the ring at any one (1) time; After the scoring of a fall a wrestler may relieve the partner; If a wrestler is unable to continue; the wrestler’s partner shall continue the contest alone; The referee may call time after an injury to permit the injured wrestler to be removed from the ring; and Release the rope provided in the team corner until officially tagged by the partner."

I am not making any of this up. A wrestler may have a second accompany him to the ring, but if the second interferes he can be ejected. Refs must be properly attired within 30 minutes of bell time and must "enforce the regulations of the commission".

That's from F4W

TNA iMPACT!: 1.1
ECW on Sci-Fi: 0.6

Holy ****ing shit, they kept their 1.1. I guess that pretty much confirms that TNA has an audience that will watch no matter what, though it doesn't really say much for their ability to draw in (much less keep) NEW viewers. Still, TNA has to consider that a win, even if ECW was on a different night with a pretty crappy looking main event/card.

ECW as a show was good, but then, I didn't actually pay attention to Mizzark shitting up the ring.

On another subject, Smackdown was pretty fun. Batista's spear on Burke was hellacious and they made Burke look legit even as he was squashed by the world champion, then the MVP-Hayes segment was phenomenal.

Depends on the company. WWE and TNA are the top 2.

WWE champion is Randy Orton. I don't watch TNA so I have no idea.

They wrestle several times a week.
For the WWE it is probably Vince McMahon and the writers that decide who wins and loses and probably Triple H has a huge influence in that as well.

Oh, and who can forget Chris Jericho when it comes to high character guys?
My favorite wrestling moment of this year was last week on Raw when Orton got in Jericho's face, and Jericho stepped back and took off his flamingly flamboyant vest like it was a prelude to a beatdown.

The Undertaker can do that, step back and take off his coat or hat or whatever, and it's like "Yeah, I'm gonna kick your ass, but it's gonna be on my schedule. Someone get me a sandwich and a beer first."

With Jericho, standing there all proud of himself with his Ryan Seacrest haircut, it was more like "Look at my vest, Randy, isn't it fierce? I spent 6 months gluing sequins on this, so I better take it off before you rip it."

What has happened to him? :shake:

It's not just the way he looks, although that certainly doesn't help. His whole demeanor is... shall we say... soft. And it's twice as bad considering the position he came back in, being pushed right into a world title match as a hot act.

He really had a chance to come back and show he belonged in the main events every month, but he's still doing the ha-ha comedy "junior" act, calling people by the wrong name, that got stale years ago. The crowds haven't really responded to him like he's a huge star since his first night back, because he acts (and looks) like an idiot, not somebody they should be taking seriously.

At this rate he's going to end up halfway down the card at Wrestlemania in some kind of comedy match. Against Santino with Doink The Clown as referee and Mean Gene and Bobby Heenan doing a potato sack egg race around the ring.

-- At the 11/19 Raw show -- the night in which Chris Jericho returned -- Triple H was joking with a number of the younger wrestlers about how they should be really excited for the next round of house shows. When asked why, he said that there would be nothing but sellouts now that "the savior" has arrived. He also said something similar to Shawn Michaels, telling him that he should work house shows again because Chris Jericho "was back to save wrestling." Michaels didn't really respond to Triple H's comment as he didn't laugh about it nor respond to it negatively. Of course, Triple H was being sarcastic with his comments. He was telling people that Ric Flair's return will mean more money than Jericho's return. Internally, some people believe Triple H's comparison was counterproductive. It was also noted that he never does this sort of stuff at the arena to co-workers, but Jericho of all people got him to do it. If he does, it's only with the inner circle of WWE. On the other hand, Stephanie McMahon was giving the impression at television that she is very supportive of Chris Jericho.

2) Expected a five-star Jericho classic promo every single week from the get-go
I've always liked Jericho. I was looking forward to a fresh, rejuvenated Y2J coming back on the scene and bringing some energy to Raw.

But it's just the same old act. I liked the act when it was fresh, but it's been like 6-7 years. And worse of all, his routine just doesn't fit the position WWE has put him in. To still be doing his comedy bits from 2000 after getting the big build-up and being pushed right into a thing with Orton, it's like a round peg in a square hole to me.

As a main event heel, Jericho was great. But as a babyface, there's just something missing. And it's a big something. It's 2007 and he's in the main event for the world title, but by watching him you'd think it's still 2000 and he's wrestling X-Pac or somebody.

Talking about HHH cracking jokes about Jericho and whatever, that's one topic that's going to have a short life this time around. Because there's nobody to blame for what's happening but Jericho. You can't say WWE isn't booking him right or anything like that. They gave him this huge push right into a main event spot. Nobody's holding Jericho back now but himself.

And maybe he doesn't care. He already stepped back and walked away from wrestling, maybe he's not interested in being in the main events all the time. Maybe he just wants to be an entertaining part of the show. And if so, good for him. But I was hoping to see him in the main events a lot, and from watching him camp around I know it's not going to happen, and that's disappointing.

Sweet Wounded Christ. That was brutal.

Can you imagine that match with an American (WWE) audience, though? The cries of "WHoooooOoo!" would quickly become intolerable.

That's what Samoa Joe and Kobashi did to each other in their classic match in ROH. They just legit beat the shit out of each other for about 30 minutes. Kobashi finally ended it with some brutal chops to Joe's head.

Okay. I'm going to start posting in this rasslin' thread. The Chiefs are a joke and I need another sport to like.

I don't know anything about rasslin', though, and I need somebody to root for. Who is good? When do they rassle next?

Mr FAX,

If you have $10-$15 to spare and have access to it (Dishnetwork, some cable companies), I would recommend buying a Ring Of Honor PPV. They're the largest independent promotion in the country and offer by far the best in-ring product. The pay-per-view showing now has an absolutely brutal tag team ladder match as its main event. Here is a video preview of the show:

I appreciate the consideration, Mr. Swanman. I would gladly pay 10 or 15 rasslin' bucks to watch some rasslin'. I have Comcast and they have this On Demand thing. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they provide some rasslin' on there. I'll check it out.

By the way, do you guys wear any special rasslin' watching clothes when you watch rasslin'?

Those guys are once in a lifetime type talents. You can't build stars like that, you just can't. They build themselves. The Rock had so much charisma he could get anything and any phrase over that *he* wanted. Creative is no better or worse than it was 20 years ago.

Yeah, exactly. Cena can't be Rock, because he doesn't have that charisma. Plus they also don't have the threat of competition to drive them.
