LMAOIn the dark match 6 man, Daniel Bryan received a reaction coming out equal to that of the Rock and just below Brock Lesnar. Show, Orton and Sheamus were just cracking up laughing. Every time Bryan tagged out, everyone was yelling "We want Bryan" literally the second he tagged out. Every time he kicked or punch, it was a Yes. Every time the faces did a move, it elicited a No chant. When Sheamus pinned Bryan, he was roundly booed (he was booed earlier on too).
- Bryan did a great promo to close the show, pretty much a babyface promo. He said last night was the worst moment of his career, but that tonight was one of the best. He asked AJ what she thought of everything, and as she meekly went to speak, he pulled the mic away, told her to shut up and go to back, which for a big pop and everyone laughed. He thanked all the fans tonight and at WM28 for chanting Yes and supporting him. He said the chants have convinced the people on charge to create a new t-shirt for him (presumably with Yes on it). He then said he had one thing left to say, and asked everyone to join in saying it - "Yes! Yes! Yes!" He also said, "You guys better buy the t-shirt!" which was funny.

I used to watch wrestling a lot back in the day. I was mainly an ECW guy, but also like WWF when it was rolling. I probably stopped watching around 2006 or 2007.
It sounds like they are still making the same mistakes. This Danielson guy sounds like he's over and they are burying him. They used to be smart enough to listen.
It seems to me the less Shane got involved and the more Stephanie got involved the more it sucked.
Sounds like they had a good couple of shows, but I doubt they follow through.
After they fucked up the ECW relaunch I was pretty much done. I would love them to have a product entertaining enough to watch again, but I'm not holding my breathe.

This reads a little better:- Daniel Bryan and AJ came out to a big pop and the yes chants. He said it sounded like the crowd was mocking him, and everyone went NO! NO! NO! in a funny moment. He called the people sheep, and then they chanted 18 SECONDS! He went on to blame AJ for losing at Mania... dressing her down, saying he wouldn't let her ruin his life like that again. He said when he will cash in his rematch clause, it will be by himself without the dead weight... he then dumped her, yelling at her to get out of his ring. Crowd did the goodbye song at AJ and then continued with the YES! chants as Bryan went to the back.
They might be taking him out of the picture until after Extreme Rules since it's in Chicago, and that crowd's liable to be closer to last night's miami crowd than a normal wwe crowd.

This show has been just as bad as I expected.
The opening of the show just killed me. Bring out Johnny and tie him to Brock. Bring out Brock so Cena will get cheered. Think it backfired, though, in that Brock made him look like a bitch in the scuffle and pull-apart. But for the 10984734298652367th time this is apparently all about getting Cena cheered. It's like they can't grasp the simple idea that people will tune in (and pay) to see Cena get his ass kicked.
The 3 Stooges stuff has been even worse than I thought it would be. Oh god, fake Hogan.
The Punk/Jericho stuff was great about 10 minutes into it when Jericho showed up on the tron, but Punk talked for way, way, way too long leading up to that. I say that as a big Punk fan. The rest was great, though.

I got kinda caught up marking out for Punk-Jericho and considering how bad the rest of this show has been, I'm fine with him talking for a little too long.
I think Punk-Jericho is finally getting to the point it shoulda been before Mania.

Agreed. I'm getting so tired of this. He's the same stupid cornball character (see handshake attempt last week) as he's always been. Said last week he wanted to congratulate The Rock, then takes shots at him this week. Almost no character (or in-ring, for that matter) development in what, 6 years as THE guy?
**** it, I'll be back next week. I know it. But for now, I'm watching Royals-A's.
EDIT: And I know everyone marks out for Otunga & the coffee flask, but I think he's hot barney anus garbage.
second EDIT: Turned it back in time to see a replay of another Lesnar run-in & F5. Let's feel sorry for Cena for getting attacked by the big bad unstoppable monster from behind. Back to baseball.

I liked the run-in.
I hated Cena having to squash Otunga (who I also don't like) before it got to that point.
I'm actually okay with the angle they're taking here, of Lesnar just coming in to kick ass, and cut out all the skits and catch phrases, but Cena is just killing it (not in a good way). There's absolutely nothing babyface about Cena. He's a phony playing a character that caters to the children in the audience. No substance to him at all. They should start having him come out in Doink makeup.

I'm fine with the Lesnar angle, but it's a bit predictable thus far.
Cena-Otunga as the main event while Punk-Henry for the WWE Championship at 9:00 is a joke. Don't care what the story is or anything like that, especially considering that Punk's been on at 9:00 for the last 3 or 4 weeks (at least). Make it seem like the belt is important.

I thought the stuff with Brock pummeling Cena was good, and I thought the blood was good, too, because Cena refuses to sell anything, so seeing him physically bloodied makes it look real. I thought the very end with the low blow and the F5 was good, too. Lesnar's promo toward the end was good, too, for what it was. Cena smiling as he's getting his ass kicked, trying to be all badass to a guy who could legitimately destroy him (I like to hit and be hit - come on now), just comes off as a joke, and it's why I hate that character. Lesnar needs to completely destroy him at the PPV in Chicago, and then he needs to take Punk's title sometime after that (they can, however, help legitimize Punk in that feud if they do it right). This all needs to lead towards Lesnar having the title going into mania next year, and Rock somehow taking it from him. That's the money angle for next year. Or if it isn't, it should be.
I don't expect it to go that way of course, and I expect them to completely kill Lesnar by turning him into yet another cartoon character on the show, the way they already started to do by putting him in Johnny Ace's stable. Having him wrestle already at Extreme Rules is every bit as stupid as having Rock wrestle at Summerslam.
Everything in between was rubbish, except for the match part of Punk/Henry and Jericho afterwards. Punk talked for too long beforehand, and the crowd shit all over him, so that wasn't good in my eyes. Santino, the Stooges, every other skit on the show: exactly what's wrong with WWE and why people tune out. At least people above the age of 5, or people without little kids.

WWE announced today that WrestleMania 28 did 1.3 million worldwide PPV buys, breaking the record of 1.25 million set for the 2007 show featuring Donald Trump. The total gross for everything related to Mania week was $67 milloin, also breaking all-time records. Also, Lesnar/Cena is going to be an extreme rules match (at the Extreme Rules ppv...shocking) meaning no dq/countout. C.M. Punk b Mark Henry to open the show with an elbow dorp off the rop with a chair.
Chris Jeicho then did a promo announcing he is facing C.M. Punk in a Chicago street fight at Extreme Rules. He also claimed Punk has turned to drinking by showing footage of him walking out of a British pub.
Santino Marella b David Otunga to keep the U.S. title
Lord Tensai does a promo, mostly in Japanese, and then talked about the fear of the Unknown.
Kane b Zack Ryder via Chioke slam.
Kane did a promo building up a rematch with Randy Orton, saying Orton is just like his father as they both went down without even a fight.
Kofi Kingston and A.J. were backstage. Bryan was bragging about how loud the "YES" chants have been all night. He said that he's renamed the LeBell lock the "YES" lock. He then led the crowd in chants of "Yes," which they did loudly.
John Cena came out. He was booed heavily and greeted with lots of "Yes" chants. Cena was chanting it as well. He did not do his usual character, cutting more of a top babyface style main event promo for the match with Brock Lesnar which turned a lot of the crowd toward him. John Laurinaitis then announced a contract signing for the main event for next week in Detroit. He also announced Cena would face a mystery opponent in the main event tonight.
Daniel Bryan b Kofi Kingston with the Yes lock. Bryan was super over. He wouldn't release the hold until Sheamus made he save.
Brodus Clay b Dolph Ziggler via DQ when Jack Swagger interfered. Clay made his own save.
Big Show & Great Khali b Primo & Epico with both men hitting finishers at the same time. Abraham Washington was at ringside scouting.
Lord Tensai b Cena. David Otunga interfered. Tensai won after spitting the Kabuki mist in Cena's eyes.
Judging from Lesnar being used in clips, it's possible it was all filmed last week.

Still too many bs comedy segments, but a much better show than last week's 3 stooges abortion. I always like it when they start with wrestling instead of promos and they gave punk and henry a lot of time. Nice to see a champion of punk's build get a clean win over a monster. It doesn't happen often. Thought the Jericho bit right after was strong, too. That match should be good, with I assume Punk losing in his home town. That's where they should be in the feud now. I fast-forwarded through santino and any time that R-Truth showed up. I thought the Lesnar promo was really, really good, and I like that they're using UFC instead of shying away from it. I just hope they do the right thing and let him just destroy Cena. It's funny though, that it seems like they view Cena as the babyface still through all this, and Lesnar as the heel. Although I don't know how you can root against Lesnar after his promo. It's going to be sad when Cena wins, whether that's in 2 weeks or later on. I actually liked the Tensei stuff, didn't expect to, and I liked that he got the win at the end, although that whole segment felt flat to me. Oh, and Danielson's stuff was all great, including the match. The bit about the "yes" lock was hilarious. Like that they let him get a win on Kofi, makes him look more like competition for Sheamus. Hilarious that there seemed to be more 'yes' chants than cheering for Sheamus in the UK.
Hopefully they have a good show next week leading into the PPV.

Sheamus-Bryan was on the verge of being one of my favorite matches of the past ten years until the finish, and it could still be up there if they somehow have the attention span to pay off the AJ-Bryan stuff a month or two down the road.
Punk-Jericho was okay, and ended really nicely. I wasn't super into it but it's not their fault so much as the weird, dumb booking for the angle.
Lesnar-Cena was genuinely stunning and brutal and amazing. I watched it with my mouth agape. They were doing everything they needed to create an unstoppable monster and give Cena a break plus a fresh take on his character when he comes back.
And then Cena won. And is taking a break anyways? And... huh?

It's kind of amazing how much of a difference it makes for Cole to say "I for one am looking forward to this matchup [between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan]" in awed-announcer voice instead of shitting on them constantly and calling them nerds. Is Vince dead?

According to meltzer on his radio show from last night, the mentality regarding lesnar is "we're playing a ton of money to this guy who's not a WWE guy so we've got to make sure that he puts over WWE guys because we don't know how long he's going to be here." They told lesnar weeks ago that Cena was going over, but Lesnar's camp thought it was probably just testing him to see how he'd react. Cena was supposed to go out on a stretcher so that Lesnar would look like the winner in the end, which obviously didn't happen. Apparently it's hard to tell what exactly is going on behind the scenes because there's a lot of "weird working" going on. It's a "bizarre situation". In any case, apparently he's just there to put Cena over, and they wanted it to happen right away so everybody would forget about Cena losing to The Rock at mania. No real long term thought process, it's not building toward wrestlemania next year, it's all about getting WWE people over, starting with Cena.
They blow the punk build last summer, they blow the rock build for mania, now they blow this this spring. They keep getting setup after setup for things that could really change the product and keep people interested and ultimately make themselves tons and tons of money, and they just keep screwing up over and over. Back to midgets and fat dancing guys and guys with invisible friends and john cena getting his ass kicked one night and coming out to give a heroic speech about 'leaving for a while" instead of getting stretchered out and then coming out joking the next night like nothing ever happened to lead to a match that literally nobody wants to see with Johnny Ace.
If they didn't have Punk and Danielson on the next PPV, this week would have been it for me.

More...-- As far as stories of Brock flipping his lid after Extreme Rules on Sunday night, well, he did flip his lid, but how much of that was real and how much of it was a way to convince the other wrestlers that him losing to John Cena was the right call, that's open to speculation. At least part of it, and maybe most of it, was a work on the boys, but there were a few things that Lesnar was legitimately upset about. Perhaps not upset enough to tear a locker room apart over, but upset nonetheless. The company tried to get out word Monday that he'd quit, I guess hoping various websites would report it so everyone would be surprised when he walked out on Raw. Unfortunately, they did a poor job getting the info out, particularly since by the time most of us heard it, we'd also heard that Brock was, in fact, in the building and scheduled to do the show.
-- WWE's official explanation of the HHH injury: "Triple H’s arm was placed in a hold that created a tremendous amount of torque on his upper arm and elbow. “He has a non-displaced fracture of distal humorous," said a supposed doctor. "Fortunately, this is not something that needs surgery with pins and screws. We’ll be treating him with a sling for comfort and following with him in the next few days." The idea was for Brock to return for a match with HHH at SummerSlam, but you know how those things go.

Fuck Cena. Seriously. The most entertaining this company's been in the last 5 years was when the focus was on Punk last summer. Other than that, Cena's been the only guy on top & it's been the same old shit for....7 years?
And yet I keep watching. :banghead:

Note that the Punk, Rock & Lesnar angles all involved Cena on the other side of it....
If they didn't have Punk and Danielson on the next PPV, this week would have been it for me.
I'm really excited to see Punk-DB, but there's still 2.5 weeks for them to fuck it up by having Lesnar injure DB or some stupid shit. Or they could always just give them 5 minutes for the actual match. And then there's the argument of why this isn't main-eventing Wrestlemania. Oh, wait, Cena's not involved....
Holding out hope that they'll at least do Punk-DB the right way, but considering that they ended Raw with Big Johnny & Cena, I'm not holding out too much.

I would not expect a whole lot out of Danielson and Punk based on Smackdown:They beat Danielson twice on Friday's show. Complete interference the first time, but still. The guy contending for the Raw title at the next PPV lost twice to the SD champion at Tuesday's taping.
The show opens with a Sheamus promo. Sheamus accepted Daniel Bryan's request for a rematch tonight. Sheamus started doing the "yes, yes, yes," I guess attempting to make people think when they are chanting it, it's now for him. Bryan came out.
In other words, the main event advertised for tonight on Raw last night was changed. You'd think there was no long term planning or something.
Sheamus NC Daniel Bryan. Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez came in and laid out Sheamus. Bryan put Sheamus in the Yes lock but the refs pulled im off. Bryan then started yelling at Del Rio and Rodriguez for interfering and costing him.
And then to end the show...
Sheamus b Daniel Bryan. Del Rio and Rodriguez came out for commentary. Del Rio and Rodriguez distracted Sheamus and Bryan climbed to the top, but he came off the top into a Brogue kick for the pin.

I love Punk to death, but they need to get him & Bryan together on the mic. Either that, or just let him loose on Laurinitis. Or turn him heel.... The face promos & putdowns are so much more watered down than when he was a heel/tweener. Face Punk is still more bearable than most of the roster (IMO), but heel/tweener Punk is epic.
And fuck Cena. What should be the best pure wrestling match of the year is going to take second billing to Cena vs. Johnny fucking Ace....

So, Cena's apparently filed for divorce, and there's potential that it could get really ugly. It's been rumored for years that he'll sleep with anything that walks (yes, kids, this is your PG-era WWE children's hero...), so it's not exactly a big surprise.
I wish I was naive enough to think this could have any kind of positive impact on the product.

Don't have a link, but I just read something where an "insider" was quoted as saying that this would dwarf the Hogan divorce in terms of ugliness.
Gotta be tough to be a married pro wrestler. Or married to a pro wrestler, for that matter.
Oh, and I hope this means he gets fired. Or something. But he won't.
