Randy Orton was involved in a motorcycle accident resulting in him re-injuring his collarbone. Orton had initially injured his collarbone last June at One Night Stand, during his confrontation with Triple H in a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship.

As a result of re-injuring the collarbone, Orton will be out of action for three months.

Also, someone on another forum called the drinking contest, and I'm glad they did it. Good way to sell Punk as being different and all rebellious and whatnot.

Sounds like a decent show, really want to see the main event.

And I thought for sure Punk was losing after Monday (usually in WWE, whoever 'wins' an encounter prior to a PPV loses the match...). I'm wondering if we see a title change tomorrow night, because it sounds like JBL worked hard tonight. He's somebody that won't usually give much effort if there isn't a payout for him. Although maybe we'll be really lucky and he'll go back to SD to announce with JR.

And HUN-TOR beat the giant. I'm SHOCKED!!

I thought the post match burial of Edge was unnecessary.(The scariest thing about that is that it means Edge is probably off TV for a long time. Which means Smackdown isn't going to have a main event level heel unless they try to elevate MVP (isn't likely...) or turn someone (who's at that level?). It also means SD is going to really, really suck, since Edge has been the star of that show for a long, long time now.

Maybe they'll just get it over with and rename it "The Game's Show" when they move to MNTV in a few weeks.

Pretty good Orton (audio) interview from the sun a few days ago, prior to his motorcycle accident:

'Flair is a father, Bubba is a bastard'

By SIMON ROTHSTEIN and JOEL ROSS
Published: 15 Aug 2008

WWE superstar Randy Orton reveals which wrestlers he likes, and who he really hates, in our latest exclusive WrestleCast.

The former world champion – who was injured in a motorcycle accident days after conducting the interview – was full of praise for Ric Flair, The Undertaker and Triple H.

But when asked which wrestlers were less helpful to his career, he singled out Bubba Ray Dudley, Test and Hardcore Holly as being selfish and stiff in the ring.

In the candid chat, Randy also talked about his previous bad behaviour, how he’s adapting to his new role as a husband and father and why he likes it when the fans chant “boring”.

The true story behind the most intriguing dark match since that one that took place a couple of months ago:

Danielson rang him up and said,"You might be GHC Champion but I just did a WWE Dark Match Tryout!", this of course infuriated Morishima (it would also have infuriated him if Danielson told him he'd had mushrooms for lunch) who screamed so loudly that it warped time and space and he found himself standing in the ring in front of Charlie Haas.

"Oh man, not again!" said Charlie Haas.

From f4w:Another off-air Raw report (http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/6448/105/)

By Keith Lipinski

As Punk was mid-ring, JBL came down the aisle and said that he was going to win the belt tonight. Color the crowd confused as the post show dark match was scheduled to be JOHN CENA & SHAWN MICHAELS vs. JBL & CHRIS JERICHO. JBL called Punk a loser "like the Chicago Cubs" and that tonight Punk would be like the cubs, and he couldn't blame anyone but himself. "Not Steve Bartman (man who in 2003 during a Cubs playoff game went after a foul ball and was blamed for the Cubs losing the National League Title that year), Not a goat (legand says that the owner of the Billy Goat cafe attempted to bring a goat to wrigley for a game, was denied and put a curse on the Cubs)" Punk, looking crestfallen but loving the Chicago Cubs references, kissed the belt goodbye and the match started.

CM Punk defeated John Bradshaw Layfield in 6 minutes with the Go 2 Sleep.

The match was primarily JBL beating on Punk, who was still groggy from his loss to Jericho a few moments ago. JBL hit a lariat and was clobberin on Punk for 5 minutes. Punk made a comeback with his kicks, a very nice knee into the corner, the bulldog out of the corner and the Go 2 Sleep for the pin. The crowd was definitely sent home happy.

A huge CM Punk chant went around the building. Punk looked happier than I have ever seen him, well ever. He went all around the ring, posing on the turnbuckles, playing with the crowd, going to shake hands to the fans on ringside and hugging his sister (who was in the front row with the clowns who were removed from hard camera earlier in the evening).

Punk then got on the mic and said the following "You know (inaudable) bad head. I got some pain from the stitches in my head, but you guys make it all go away. I don't care who knows but two and a half years ago at wrestlemania I was hanging out in the John Cena gangster car and I was on that ramp right there and i stood right there and I watched Triple H stand right here and I watched John Cena stand at the top of the ramp and I said to myself with a phony tommy gun over my shoulder, someday the tommy gun would be the world heavyweight championship and someday I'm going to be standing in that ring. And hey, what do you know, two and a half years later, I'm here! Even though a whole bunch of people said I couldn't do it, i'm not going to dwell on the negative i'm dwell on the positive in front of you thousands and thousands of people. While I'm sure there is a few of you in here who said I would never do it I'm a bit of an optimist, I try to overcome and follow my heart, I listen to my little sister and hey here I am and it goes to show that anybody out there right now, sitting in your seat, you paid your hard earned money to see one hell of a show, maybe in two and a half years you will be standing here with the world championship! I love Chicago!"

With that Punk was off, but not before laying back in the ring and making a snow angel, looking up to the Allstate Arena ceiling, taking in his homecoming.

It was quite the moment.

I thought this was pretty interesting...

Internet Schmucks, Triple H, Gail Kim, One Great Stooge
08/22/2008 by Mark Madden

Internet schmucks have caterwauled long and loud about the overrated mess that is Triple H, crediting his success to entering the sacred chamber of the princess rather than being that damn good.

That notion was hopefully put to sleep once and for all at SummerSlam when Trips got a match out of Khali that was both passable and dramatic. I’m a Trips fan, but I still bet against that one. When you look at the entire oeuvre of Triple H – and view his work without malice aforethought – it’s impossible to not conclude that he is among the very best of his generation.

I put the criticism of Internet blowhards down to jealousy – jealous that they can’t get a girl like Stephanie, jealous that they can’t get, er, a girl like Chyna, jealous that they can’t touch the pleasure parts of any McMahon regardless of sex, jealous that they don’t know Motorhead, jealous that they never hung out with Ric Flair, jealous that they’re not 12-time champions.

I don’t blame you. It’s a lot to be jealous of.

Trips has a couple flaws: He’ll bigfoot the occasional storyline. And no matter what he thinks, he just isn’t funny.

But Trips has headlined a lot of big-money pay-per-views. The live crowd buys him as a legit badass. He does great, intense promos. Unlike say, Kurt Angle, he mostly understands what’s best for his character. He has elevated lesser stars via his presence in groups like Evolution and DX, especially Batista.

His work is vastly underrated. He's a latter-day Harley Race. Trips works a very deliberate style without looking slow. Everything he does seems reasoned and logical, except when it makes sense to be ill-reasoned and illogical. He’s very reminiscent of Race and Johnny Valentine, two pretty good workers to be compared to. Triple H has that Flair intangible, too. He keeps the crowd hooked.

Add it all up. Triple H is probably the best in the business right now, period.

Why Internet jerks dislike him, I really don’t know. Internet geeks like to prove they’re smarter than the average bear by ignoring the obvious and using an irrelevant set of standards to choose “stars.”

Take, for example, Bryan Danielson of ROH. Good little worker. But give my promotion Triple H, yours can have Danielson, take a year to build up both and see who sells more tickets. It wouldn’t even be remotely close. Yet a quorum of Internet boobs have crowned Danielson “the best worker in the world.” He couldn’t draw real money if you dipped him in superglue and dragged him through a bank vault.

I don’t often quote Hulk Hogan, but once, when he was asked who the best worker in wrestling was, he replied, “The guy with the most money.” He wasn’t far off.

GAIL KIM LEAVES TNA

Ordinarily, I’d say, “Who cares?

But given that the Knockouts segments do better than most within the context of TNA Impact, maybe Kim’s departure is a big loss.

Nah, I’ll stick with “Who cares?” Maybe the Knockouts segments outdo the rest of the show because the rest of the show sucks out loud. Kim is a solid talent, a hot dish and a good worker for, well, you know, a girl. But since the days of Mildred Burke, Penny Banner and their ilk, few chicks have drawn money. Kim and the other Knockouts have popped some decent ratings. But that’s not drawing money.

Shelly Martinez and Traci Brooks could draw money. A dollar at a time, that is.

Still, there’s something about those two. Four things, to be exact. I was backstage at an indie show talking to a TNA wrestler, and I mentioned that I thought Brooks was super hot. He rolled his eyes, so I said, “Well, I like that burnt-out stripper look.” The reply: “She’s DEFINITELY for you, then.”

What women have drawn real money in the modern era? Elizabeth, with her work in the Hogan-Savage split. Sunny and Sable sold a lot of merchandise. Chyna was an intriguing freak show. And that’s about it. One thing is certain: Women actually WRESTLING hasn’t been a legit attraction in a long time. So Kim leaving TNA is no big deal, even if – as presumed – she arrives back in WWE tout de suite.

MEAN GENE, COME ON IN HERE…

When I worked for WCW, I used to bad-mouth Hogan all the time. I probably shouldn’t have, but I’m a lifelong Flair guy, and Hogan used to sabotage Ric way too often for my liking. Also, when Hogan took out more than he drew, it didn’t matter if the crowd was HUGE, we were still failing. It didn’t make sense to me, but WCW was always run by Hogan marks until Vince Russo arrived.

Once, a wrestler (who shall remain nameless) said, “Look, Hogan hears about it every time you blast him, and that can’t be good.”

I replied, “How does he hear about it?”

The wrestler said, “Put it this way – tonight, when you go to the bar after the show, badmouth me in front of Okerlund.”

I did. The next day, said wrestler repeated – almost word for word – everything bad I’d said about him. Mean Gene ran right to him with the dirt.

Okerlund lasted as long as he did in wrestling because he was the best interview guy ever, no doubt about that. But being stooge to the stars sure didn’t hurt.

No offense to madden, but Shawn Michaels is far and away the best in the business, and has been for some time now.

As for HHH, he's been force-fed to audiences for more than a decade, so of course he's going to be popular. People generally like who they're told to like. If Vince woke up tomorrow and decided "you know, I'm going to make Brian Danielson a star", I'd imagine he could. They're already starting to break the 'big wrestler' sterotype, so who knows what the prototypical WWE star of tomorrow will look like.

Stupidest thing ever (tomorrow's ECW):ECW On Sci-Fi: (Airing Tomorrow)
* Tiffany introduces Theodore Long. A ECW Championship Scramble Match is announced for Unforgiven. Qualifying matches will be held throughout tonight’s taping.

* Matt Hardy b. John Morrison
- Hardy got the win with Twist of Fate.

* Backstage is Theodore Long, Tiffany, and Mark Henry. Mark is upset about being in the scramble. Teddy informs him that one, two, or three belts could change hands -- could his be one?

* The Miz b. Evan Bourne
- The Miz earns a spot in the scramble at Unforgiven.

* Chavo Guerrero b. Tommy Dreamer
- Chavo gets the win with a frog splash. He's now earned a spot in the scramble.

* Finlay b. Mike Knox
- Finlay got the win using his shilelagh. He got the last spot in the scramble. Hornswoggle at ringside to celebrate.

So...no Morrison, and The Miz beat Bourne. WTF

That's more along the lines of what I meant.

I remember Foley's last book where he was like "The guys in TNA treat me like a big deal, Vince." Oy. I used to love Foley like a fat crazy uncle, but I've found him more and more annoying over the last several years. I think the first One Night Stand, where he did commentary and spent 90% of the show talking about himself, was where it started going downhill.

Oddly, I have an uncle who I used to idolize as a kid, and as I grew up I started to find him really annoying too. Maybe I just have a problem with uncle figures.

More:* Randy Orton comes out to kick off the show. No pyros to open the show as Orton gets on the mic. He says that he is still injured and that Beth Phoenix, Santino Marella, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase hurt Raw. He said that CM Punk disgraces the World Heavyweight Championship belt. He says that Beth is embarrassing herself and he could beat Santino. Orton says that DiBiase and Rhodes aren't priceless but worthless. He says that he would love to take the belt from CM Punk tonight but he is not medically cleared. CM Punk hits the right and says that Orton is jealous of him but he cannot worry about him tonight because he has a Battle Royal later in the show.

Raw Battle Royal
- Batista is out first and says his gameplan is to destroy everyone. Orton comes out to ringside to do commentary. JBL, CM Punk, and Kane also enter the match. Rey Mysterio is suppose to, but he is in "hell." CM Punk eliminates Batista and then JBL. Kane then eliminates Punk for the win.

After the match CM Punk walks over to Orton and throws water in his face. Rey Mysterio comes out next to a huge pop and immediately starts beating on Kane.

PLEASE BE TRUE:

Cage was burned out on the schedule and hurting when he left WWE a few years ago, plus it was pretty much a lock he would be given the NWA title at the time he came. That was a lure for a guy who wanted to be a headliner and as things stood at the time, that chance wasn’t coming in WWE, where he left as almost a glorified television job guy. Plus, the head of the booking team at the time was Scott D’Amore, who he had been friends with since they all broken in the business together on the Canadian indie scene. D’Amore recently left the company. Cage never plays his hand publicly because he learned about avoiding booking team heat from years in WWE. But behind the scenes, like almost everyone, he’s been critical of the booking in TNA.

Alright, what I expect tonight:

Punk retains, goes on into a title program with Orton. (could also see Orton causing him to lose via interference)

HHH retains. Although I think there's a fair chance MVP wins. Maybe a HHH/Big Show program coming, after Big Show interference.

Matt Hardy wins the ECW title, Mark Henry isn't pinned at all in the match. Nobody cares. Since it's in Cleveland, the Miz is probably going to have a very bad night.

Priceless beats Cryme Tyme, hopefully unveiling a new Evolution-style stable with Orton in the HHH role.

Divas match...who gives a shit. Taker's girl retains.

Michaels/Jericho -- I have no f*cking idea. I'm thinking Michaels wins but Jericho beats him up post match and the angle continues. Really wish they'd saved this for mania.

HBK then cuts a promo about how he's now apparently the Hulk
Trips buries THE Brian Kendrick pretty hard, then wins the WWE scramble with a second to go over Jeff Hardy
Orton and the Sloppy Seconds play the 4 Horsemen to CM Punk's Dusty Rhodes
Orton and the Sloppy Seconds also beat the hell out of Kofi Kingston, sealing the fact that they are indeed southern heels
Michelle McCool retained

Sucks for Punk the way that went down. Seems an odd way to take the belt off of him.

HHH was at his egotistical worst that entire match. You really have to watch it to appreciate how badly he buried Kendrick.

The Silverback got screwed.

Despite the fact that none of the people that I wanted to win won, it was a very solid PPV, save for the HHH shenanigans.

I don't care that he lost the title, and I think an Orton/Punk feud could be good if that's where they're going. But they made him look so damn weak. Jericho takes the beating of a lifetime yet manages to make it to the ring for the scramble. Whereas Punk gets attacked and kicked in the head, but can't make it out 45 minutes later to defend his own title. It's like Brodie Croyle booking. CM Punk, agile and fragile.

One of her special needs students is this big black kid named D'wan. He pretty much just sits by himself for the hour, drawing with crayons or whatever and for the most part doesn't say much.

Well D'wan for the past few weeks has been drawing the same figure with long blonde hair and U's in the chest with little dots in the center. I guess this wasn't an isolated case just in art class because the other teachers noticed it too. Two of the teachers, both like 60 year old ladies, started talking the break room to my sister about it. They were pretty scandalized by the whole thing and began speculating on why this 11 year old black kid was drawing topless white women in class. According to my sister, one hypothesis was that perhaps someone in his home was had women over who would walk around nude at this kids house.

Well my sister thought that was pretty ****ing stupid or whatever, so she decided to investigate. Her first, and most obvious choice was to ask this kid who the topless white woman with long blonde hair was.

"D'wan, who's that you're drawing?"

"That? Oh, that's Edge."

The screen then went blank for two or three minutes. When it came back on, there were two topless women lying together. Unbelievable. That was a system-wide error and there will be a lot of people upset and others pleasantly surprised. When they went back life, Styles pulled out a kendo stick from under the ring and beat on Trigg. His music played as Tenay said the match was ruled a no contest. He said Styles got the last word. Styles left the ring and told Tenay and West that he's a wrestler he doesn't do "that stuff." Tenay said not only did Styles hold his own in Trigg's world, but he almost won.

WINNER: No contest. The brief image of the naked women will be talked about for years as one of the funniest blunders on pro wrestling PPV, and not so funny for parents watching with their kids.
