I was just told about this site. I haven't looked at it too deeply yet (still reading) but I thought it might be of interest to some around here.

goooh.com (http://www.goooh.com/Home.aspx)

*Note - be sure is you go there manually to put in 3 O's. If you put in just two, you wind up on an arabic site.

I dunno... the whole thing wreaks of scam to me. Funding 435 campaigns? They also misspelled assets. I don't like it.

Yeah, I have noticed several misspellings as well. I also noticed a couple of places where it says "Click here for..." that had no links attached. oops

I was told about this from a guy here at work. It is based off of a book and the author lives in the next town to mine. So right now, this is starting small here in central Texas. Whether it gets off the ground or not should be interesting.

The patent pending GOOOH system invites Americans to participate in the selection of their district's candidate as well as becoming a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives themselves. Politicians, lawyers, and individuals whose family has assets valued at more than $11.5 million (250 times the median income) are not invited to participate. We have excluded those three groups because they are overly represented in government today and, generally speaking, they do not represent the average man.

Well guess I'm out, you guys take it from here. good luck winning elected office without any money or candidates with qualifications or experience.

I have some serious reservations about all of this. It is one of those things that looks ok on the surface but I tend to wonder what is underneat.

By the same token, getting "regular" people more involved in our government has to be a good thing. I am interested in hearing other opinions on this from some of the more learned posters over here (not excluding those who have already posted).

I don't necessarily disagree with that sentiment. I just think they need a better plan for doing it.

The problem I think stems more from the monied influence than having people with some expertise. I used to think term limits were a good idea, but I've gone the other way on that. I think having a revolving door line of people in and out would make our government even more reliant on monied interests, because then they'd be the only people with the experts and experience to consult people. Hell it happens now when anybody loses an election. They just become a super-lobbyist after they are voted out and are training some rookie from their party to be their replacement.

The only choice I have today is to vote for my current representative - and he is terrible. He is guaranteed to win because of the way the district has been gerrymandered; the other party won't even bother to compete.

85% of the country disapproves of Congress. I guess you are in the 15% that approve.

I see this as a grand opportunity, and honestly find it frustrating that guys like you would whine because of a couple of misspelled words, or worse, immediately jump to some conspiracy theory. Have you heard the one about being part of the problem or part of the solution. I guess I know where you land.

Do you have a better idea?

Well, I suppose one could always make a single post on a Football Forum whining about other people's whining.

Ah, the bye week. It's lovely when the duplicate nym's are in bloom.
