Looks like the Chiefs hold teams a decent amount under their season average. Only Pittsburgh and New England do it better.

Disclaimers:

- We have no offense.
- All-aboard the train of mediocrity.
- We're not winning the Super Bowl so f**k it.
- Chiefs suck.

I love this stat.

This shuts up the "we're playing weak offenses" rebuttal that youknowwho likes to give.

Along with the "JA gets all his sacks in a small number of games" and "Pollard is a bust."

Ah.

The Pollard line gave it away.

And regarding Indy.....

They have a tendency to make even great defenses look foolish. They hung 29 on a Jacksonville defense that all but blanked us.

The only team that has held them under 29 is Tennesee.

The defense has improved for the second year in a row. I do think Indy will make us look bad, though. They are really balanced. Our rushing defense is the weaker of the two components and Indy is a very good rushing team. Once the safeties start cheating up to help the run, Manning will kill us deep. I also don't think our pass rush will be that effective against Manning. And our D does not play quite as well on the road, although it has been better this year.

I think we'll have one additional bad outing sometime this season as well.

We did pretty good against Indy last year.

And you have to like Allen vs a rookie LT.

We allowed 188 yards rushing and 4.7 yards per carry. Yes, it could have been worse if Manning didn't have a bad day (kudos to the Chiefs defense for contributing to that), but I'm not going to call that "pretty good".

They were on the field all day.

Considering how much we've improved on defense this year, I think we can hold the Colts to around 20.

And you honestly don't expect them to be THIS year?

The Colts defense has gotten better as well. And our offense has gotten worse.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but I'd really like you to take the homer glasses off and tell us why we match up better with them this year.

After seeing them dominate a team on road that dominated us at Arrowhead?

I think our offense will play better than it did in that playoff game last year.

In fact, I'm expecting a first down - perhaps even two - in the first quarter alone.

So will Manning throw three picks again? If not, we have even more ground to make up.

Yeah, about 13 points worth of ground.

I'm being generous with the TD and 2 FG's.

I'll be surprised if Indy scores above their usual average against us. And I'll be surprised if they score more on us than they do on the Chargers.

And all this is with KC's defense working in spite of the pitiful offense; the turnovers, field position, etc.

I don't think they'll score their average either. (32 ppg)

But realistically, all they need to score is 17-20 and we lose.

They'll score somewhere in the 20's, IMO.

That one has actually turned out to be true, with Allen only playing 5 games so far. It's just that it's true in the complete opposite way that statement is intended.

Probably, but I'm not really focusing on our chances of winning a football game because of the defense; only the defense itself.

Our offense does suck and will cost us games, but that's for another thread. Or every other thread, as it usually goes.

Our offense causes our defense to be over-rated since our opponents offense doesn't try to score very many points.

I'll be happy if they don't get blown out, and JA hammers Manning at least once.

I wonder how good our defense would look against the rest of the league when looked at in terms of total yards or total points, divided by minutes on the field?
