View Full Version : The most uncomfortable interview ever...

John McCain brought his mother onto Hardball. It turned out to be the most akward interview I've ever seen. She was nervous the entire time, looking like she was on a firing line. Chris Matthews kept referring to John McCain as her husband. At one point in time, Chris Matthews asked her about Mitt Romney's experience, and she started talking about how the corrupt Mormons had scandalized the Olympics. ROFL McCain, of course, had to do some damage control through the interview.
Here's the second part of the interview... They cut out the slam she did on the Mormons, but not the damage control part (http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&brand=msnbc&vid=0e796603-5f74-4fb2-81e0-5972bbc9e849)
Serious question...
WTF is NBC doing editing out those comments from that interview?
That's rather amazing, IMO.
More dubious than her expressing her own dubious opinion is them trying to eliminate the evidence of the embarassing moment.

McCain's mom takes on Romney's Mormonism
Sen. McCain and his mother, Roberta, prepare for their interview with Chris Matthews from a New Hampshire hotel room.
(CNN) — The mother of Sen. John McCain criticized the religion of one of her son’s competitors for the Republican presidential nomination Friday night.
When asked about former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s experience by Hardball host Chris Matthews, Roberta McCain, who’s campaigning in New Hampshire with her son at the age of 95, said "as far as the Salt Lake City thing, he's a Mormon and the Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal. And to clean that up, it's not a subject."
Romney was selected to head up the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games after a bribery scandal tarnished the Games.
Sen. McCain, who was seated next to her, raised his eyebrows and flashed a polite grin during her comments.
"The views of my mother are not necessarily the views of mine," McCain chimed in.
“Well, that’s my view. You asked me,” Mrs. McCain followed.
After a commercial break, Sen. McCain further tried to distance himself from his mother’s comments.
“Could I just reemphasize one point? I think Mormons are great people. I think it should in no way be a factor in consideration or lack of consideration for Governor Romney,” he said. “I think it should never be a consideration and I know he will be judged on his record. He’s a fine and decent man and a family man.”

That ranks right up there with Newt's mom calling Hillary a bitch.
Crooks & Liars has the portion that NBC censored.

Thanks for a link that leads to nothing except their home page.

You'll notice it's a link to a .wmv file that for whatever reason redirects to the homepage.
Here's the post that includes the link to the video in 4 formats. This should work even if the direct link doesn't.

"You'll notice?" Yeah. I noticed. That's why the first link was worthless.

Good to know you'll try hard to be an asshole for no reason then. I helped you out best I could given the funky link to the video file.
Enjoy the clip.

Okay, then.
What the hell was Sen. McCain thinking by appearing next to his mother? Is there anyone here who would be comfortable with his/her mother appearing in any forum to help speak for him/her?
I have nothing for admiration and respect for Sen. McCain as a man who has served his country beyond any measure we should ask of a man, but he ought to waterboard whichever of his handlers okayed this idiotic media opportunity.

"You'll notice" that I already think you're an asshole.
Take it in that context and we're cool.

ROFL
I thought similar, but without the waterboarding visual... Nice...
I thought it was a ridiculous. I never had any concerns that McCain was anywhere close to dying. In fact, I think people in their 70's are as vital as they come these days. I know a 72 year old that could do circles around any of us... he's a machine.
I think McCain is simply losing touch and holding onto yesterday's dream. I thought he lost this election with his "leisurely stroll through Baghdad proper" moment. I guess Iowa and New Hampshire could prove me wrong.

This video was hilarious and sad at the same time.
Pretty much should be the death knell for this candidacy.
A sad, whimpering ending for an honorable man.
