Do you judge a film or play based on the political activism of the actors involved?

No. I go by if I'd like that type of movie: genre, message. I also like certain directors and will see based on that or if I have a crush on an actor.

No more than I would judge Wagner's music because he was an anti-semite, or Poe's writing because of his alcoholism and drug addiction.
Art exists independent of the artist, except when perceived by a small mind.

Indeed. The smallest.

I'm probably not going to watch something that is openly hostile to my beliefs - something that is 'preachy'. But, if it's an open liberal just playing a part, who cares?

WTF is with these four poll options anyway?

What is the difference in the two "no" options?

If it has to be explained you are more politically uninformed than anyone that I've ever encountered. You shame the name of Pittsburg State.

Most actors have zero credibility, because they don't have the education, nor the experience living life in the real world. Alec Baldwin got thrown out of college for cheating, Michael Moore has similar educational issues. Robert Redford played baseball at the University of Colorado, but got thrown out for drinking. George Clooney has a similar pedigree.
The only Hollywood actor that I would seriously listen to - James Woods. He's no pseudo-intellectual. I might listen to the Governator as well.

all true. you're right about James Woods, he has a better track record fighting terrorism than Rudy, Bush, and everyone else.

I voted the second "YES" only because it can impact me at the margin. If I like the music or the movie, I'll listen to or watch it regardless of who's in it. In music I rarely concern myself with the artist's political positions. If it comes down to two movies that I'm not all that wild about, all else being equal, I'll chose the Ron Silver movie over the Robert Redford movie.

Why on God's green earth would I want to enlighten you?
BTW, this is how I keep an asshole in suspense.
Just try for a while to understand the difference. It will come to you unless you are actually totally inept.

Yeah pitt, you're the dumb one. Much dumber I guess than someone who can't even get the subject/verb agreement right in their poll question.

Your poll making abilities are totally inept. Were you shot in the frontal lobe while serving?

Matt Damon was a college dropout too. Finished 12 hours short of graduating from Harvard. He must be a dumbass as well :p

Your post making abilities are inept. Were you born without a brain?
So, if you don't like it why post? Put one up that you think is better.

Who says I'm upset? I just don't feed trolls, and in this thread that's all you are.
You are the one that is having a problem understanding the difference. I honestly don't care what your opinion is. You didn't vote so you are just being a stick.
