Now that ESPN has declared GameDay will be there, does anyone know when they'll be opening the gates?

Synopsis:

Gate 2 (and only gate 2) will open at 7 AM.
Entry into GameDay festivities is free
Parking lot will be cleared at the end of GameDay (11 AM)

I don't have tickets but I'm seriously considering making the roadtrip for the tailgate.

Gameday airs 10am EST. Gates will probably open at 7am CST, 2 hours before the show starts.

My question is:

Does the ESPN crew put the guys outside at 9am CST? Going to be about 30 degrees. I wonder if CP will allow them to take the pavillion and then charge everybody $10 bucks to go inside.

That would be the gayest thing ever. Where the hell would the cars go that are exiting? Behind those who just now showed up?

If I ever wanted 810 to be wrong, this is the time.

That's retarded, and I suppose one reason having the game at Arrowhead stinks. On a college campus there are no lots and gates to close and clear.

can you imagine 70,000 in that lot partying for 6-10 hrs before the game?....holy hell

Everyone would be too drunk to watch the game. They'd stumble around everywhere try to find a gate, and then be passed out before the end of the first quarter.

That's absolutely insane.

But it stands to double the parking revenue, so it makes total sense from a 1 Arrowhead Drive perspective.

Opening up in the morning, and clearing it out is fugging retarded. What a mess that will be. I guarantee it's the King's way of getting more money for parking.

Hell ya! That sounds like free tickets to me. I'll be the guy convincing some drunk that the game has been cancelled and a refund will be mailed to him if I can just get his tickets.

What they will do is let people in. Then clear the place out and then let them in again. Kind of like what they do when there is an arrowhead event then a royals game later on that night. you have to pay twice if you want to stay.

This will be the quintessential backdrop for some of the greatest of all time phognet stories. From "A Mizzou fan ran over my grandmother ,who was using her walker and making her way around the the concourse.... MY GRANDMOTHER!!!" to "Mizzou fans trashed my uncles car because it had KU magnets". etc...

The place will quickly turn to Falluja and the internet BB stories told by the phognetters will be more epic than the game.

I can't wait.

I went to the free mini-camp at arrowhead a couple of years back with a buddy in his dad's winnebago. We decided we would stay for the Royals game that night. Security kept coming by and telling us that we had to move the winnebago before the Royals game to a special lot. I guarantee they came by at least 10 times. We weren't being confrontational, just lazy. Finally somebody came by and threatened to have us towed, but this was probably an hour and a half after they asked us the first time.

My point is that they are going to have to have a TON of security if they expect to clear the whole lot. Either that or a bulldozer.

I think I will make it over there that morning with some friends. We are brainstorming on some signage.

Carl will clear the lot. He's got 4 hours. And he's going to cram as many automobiles into that lot at $22 as he possibly can.

This fell to page 3 but is worth bumping for anyone who plans to go and missed it.

Bob Dole still thinks it's ridiculous to clear out the lot for 4 hours and make everyone get in line to re-enter. Of course, that means all the Johnson County KU fans with their sweater arms tied around their necks don't need to get there quite as early and act like real fans.

Oh I don't they'll do everything they can to get it cleared, but the point is they had to come by 10 times to get you to do it. I guess if not that many people show up for GameDay - it won't be that large of an issue.

To me, the more common sense approach would be to just ask you for the $10 parking for a Royals game and leave you sit.
