View Full Version : On opening day I wonder how many people will cheer for Rich Gannon?

07-02-2001, 01:18 PM
I hope our fans don't insult our new QB and coaching staff along with our other players by doing so. We should boo him and the Raiders for the scum they are. Yea Green boo Gannon.

I won't be cheering ... nor will I be booing.

Personally, I think the best thing is to be stark silent. Imagine the mind game the crowd could play if, when the opposing team takes the field, nearly 80,000 people don't even acknowledge the opposing teams existence. The sound of all of that silence would be more imposing than booing, IMO.

~~Doesn't make a peep when the other team takes the field.

07-02-2001, 01:29 PM
I know of at least one stalker (er.. I mean fan) who will be cheering for him.

07-02-2001, 02:04 PM
MM - Can we still be as loud as we want when their on Offense and on the line or in the huddle?

Silence when announcing the guys could be amusing, especially the ones loooking to be boo'd.

Mark M
07-02-2001, 02:10 PM
Definitely! I'm just saying that everyone should be quiet when the opposing team is announced. Booing just pumps the other team up ... silence would have them wondering.

There is some high school (can't remember where, but somewhere in KC) that has a great trick: During home basketball games, when the other team is announced, the home supporters pull out a newspaper and start to read. Not a peep except the rustling of paper. It's classic!

I can just see the folks at Arrowhead doing something similar. Just picture the Raiders in the tunnel ... they are all pumped and ready to be the "bad boys," ready to be booed relentlessly. Then the announcer comes on:

"And now introducing the Oakland Raiders." They come running out on the field, hooping and hollering ...

and all they can hear is a lone cricket somewhere. Everyone is just standing there, doing nothing but staring around with their arms crossed, not even paying attention.

I'm telling you guys, it'd be great.

~~Knows that silence can sometimes be golden.

Sounds like a plan. I'll be quiet when they take the field and yell like a madman when they're playin on offense. That'll save energy for when we kick their axes.

I think that would be great, but there's no way you could get 80K people to do it...

I will cheer him................if he gets hurt....:D

07-02-2001, 02:17 PM
Mark M.

That is how Allen Fieldhouse greets opposing teams. Then when the mighty Jayhawks take the court the newspapers are shredded and tossed like confetti!! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!

Lightning Rod

They have done that at KU BB games for years. It's great.

Mark M
07-02-2001, 02:33 PM
I did not know KU did that. When I was in high school one of the KS teams (I want to say a Shawnee Mission school) did that to us. Now I know where they got it!

And, unfortunately, keg is right ... it'd never happen. Too many drunken fools. (sigh) Oh well.

~~Will see his dream die a quick death on Sept. 9th when the Faiders take the field.

07-02-2001, 02:35 PM
Didn't the Royals also do something similar when the Yanks were in town a couple years ago, just stand up, turn around and not even look at them as they walk on the field. To pull it off you would have to get it in the press, just like the Royals did.

Of course I have also like the idea of laughing when the other team marches on the field.

Lightning Rod
07-02-2001, 02:38 PM
That was the share the wealth game.

07-02-2001, 02:51 PM
Rod - I was just trying to use it as proof that something like this could be pulled off, it would need to have a catchy name to it to get the press time it would need to be pulled off.

Lightning Rod
07-02-2001, 03:07 PM
Sounds like a good idea.

Though I must admit that the last one of these things I saw was when Johnny Damon came back to town. I thought the fans cam off a classless. Same sort of thing with Booing Gannon it really would not make sense. He really didn't do anything the rest of us would not now if we were in his shoes. Having said that, I do think the news paper thing or silence thing would be very cool.

Booing Gannon would make sense; he plays for the Raiders...

It's booing the people on our own team that doesn't make sense.

07-02-2001, 03:29 PM
Booing Rich Gannon would just serve as another embarrassment in a string of embarrassments that started when Carl Peterson replaced Rich Gannon with Elvis Grlbac. Why act like a CowTown when everyone across the nation thinks we're a CowTown already?

I, for one, am educated and civilized and will clap respectfully when the Raiders are introduced. As their host, it's the polite thing to do.

07-02-2001, 07:32 PM
By the way.....Trent Green will be whistled and screamed to the high heaven that he is OUR QB.....:D
No more oh no it's Elvis thing....:p

07-02-2001, 08:08 PM
I'll cheer and clap for Trent and urge our first year QB to learn from the Raiders' veteran QB, Rich Gannon. I'm excited that our season opener is against the Raiders.

When we're on defense, Trent can focus on watching Rich Gannon's every move so he might learn to become a savvy, elusive veteran like Rich!

I'm all cheered out for Rich. I cheered for him in the past, but that was more of an anti-cheer for Kurt and his STUPID defensive schemes and for Carl for keeping GrRETARD over Rich. Now, I'll cheer for Hicks and Clemons to SMASH him to the turf on EVERY snap! He is NOT a Chief anymore and must PAY!

Gannon got his cheers here as a Raider once already. That was applause to show him how much he was admired here by the fans when he was a Chief. I thought that was pretty classy of the fans to do that ONCE. Now I say bring on the boos !! As for the silent treatment I think what you would hear is a lot of rowdy Raiders fans cheering, and being heard. Why give them that satisfaction ?

Cheering for anything in the silver black is like cheering for your ex-girlfriend's date to score with her.

In other words - hell no - how could you cheer for the raiders?

07-03-2001, 06:19 AM
No, aturnis, I was not suggesting that KC was a backwater dive. I reserve that treatment for the trailer park I live in.

[Foghorn Leghorn mode ON]
I say, I say...that's a JOKE, boy.
[Foghorn Leghorn mode OFF]

Actually, I reserve that sort of treatment for individuals who are misguided and need to be shown the way. Like people who don't understand that single mothers with 14 children should be supported in a comfortable lifestyle and people who don't realize that low-income families should be provided with new cars that don't need weekly maintenance so they can get to their jobs

As the Chiefs most dedicated fan on the planet, I sincerely love my adopted hometown of Kansas City. And if there is no love in football (as KC-CHIEFS-FAN-TX suggests), perhaps that's why we're seeing so many criminal acts by NFL players.

If more people in and out of the NFL would look to someone like Rich Gannon as a role model, the world would be a better place to live. People like Bam Morton and Torrence Phillips (DV's last attempt at a "save") would probably see the error of their ways. If Rich Gannon were still in KC, we wouldn't see people like Bill Shields playing bumper cars with their families, and Tamarick Hanover wouldn't be in the situation he's in. We need more love in the NFL, and if people don't want to accept that, they should be severely punished until they see things clearly.

Setting a <a href="http://kcgannonstalker.homestead.com">good example</a>.

Ouch!! Bringing out the smack a little early, aren't ya? ;) So how is Rice going to run with that walker his geriatric *** needs? Oh yeah, I wouldn't be predicting gloom and doom for KC just yet ... a Robinson-led D has beaten the weak-a$$ed dink and dunk Faider O what, four times in a row? It should be interesting ... care to place some kind of wager?

And one other thing ... as a Chokeland fan I wouldn't be trash talking Chiefs fans' looks, or any teams fans'. At least we don't wear our kids' Darth Vader costumes to the game.

The imposter is PC savvy.
The imposter has issues with Denise.
The imposter hangs out at both BBs (since he's referenced stuff from here and the Park).
The imposter hasn't logged in under his/her real name for a while.

All of these things leads me to believe it's Jim Reynolds. And if it is, I'd just like to say (or, again, type in this case):

Might be Packfan, but KCGannonStalker has a great sense of humor...Packfan is way too serious. Besides, Packfan only stalks Carl Peterson.

Likely candidates are still:

Logical (mysteriously silent)
Luzap (also mysteriously silent)

Jason Ernzen (new and improved with Hooked on Phonics)
"rotten" Cal Injun
Dr Red
Packfan (recently grew a sense of humor)

Ridiculous, and she clearly isn't intelligent enough (or maybe is too self-absorbed) to realize it.

I'm sorry, but I'd classify this as "harmless" fun, and the odds of anyone just happening to find a noodlearm stalker site on a web search are slim and none, so what harm, exactly, can be done.

Oh well, rarely does she say or do anything that makes sense.

Cal Injun was on vacation this past week in Oregon with the family.....

Sarcasm aside, it is nice to know that a Raiders "homie" considers me "rotten". You haven't lived as a Chiefs fan until you can successfully illicit negative responses from the Dark Side.

Of course using words with more than one syllable is all that is required to accomplish this feat.

Bothered by comments posted by the thinly veiled Raider fan on Pigskin Park, I have posted an "Open Letter" on the site in response to many of its comments and allegations.

As long as we're rounding up suspects...

I used this board's search engine to look up the word "stalker". The only hit that came up was from Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan's post on 6-25-2001 at 3:37 p.m. on the "Were you a Girbac or an anti Girbac fan last year?" thread:

And besides, even if I hadn't been a fan of his before he came to KC, a certain female Gannon stalker would have quickly turned me into one. :D

Interestingly, Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan's signature contains a link to a very nifty website Nightwolf Graphics http://www.nightwolfgraphics.com

The quality of that site's graphics and the wit that he displays throughout his posts mean that Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan is certainly capable of producing the parody page. ;)

As a moderator with access to IP addy's of posters, I can neither confirm nor deny DanT's hypothesis in the interest of fairness....

However, DanT has been noticeably absent the past couple of days and he certainly possesses the necessary wit to pull such a stunt off. Also, with his internet savvy (using the board's search engine, etc.), I wonder if he could be the gannonstalker...... hmmmmm

Not me.

As someone already pointed out, this is not my "style" [cruel and relentless] although I must confess that I admire KCGannonStalker's ruthless application of sarcasm, satire and parody. The anguished and sadly public resonse of the victim on PigSkin Park is almost painful to read.

Thank goodness I am not the target of his/her poisoned pen...

Besides, website construction is beyond an HTML-impaired clod like me.

Innocent bystander, just enjoying the show.

I almost feel I should apologize here for continuing to build this thread. Unfortunately, this is the most interactive forum available to me on the topic of <a href=http://kcgannonstalker.homestead.com">The Site</a>. I am quickly tiring of the false accusations leveled at me by the holier-than-thou individual in question, but am unable to respond freely on PsP due to a certain individuals' status as moderator.

I honestly do not feel that I have done anything illegal in the creation of the site. The "gray areas" that have been brought to my attention have been promptly corrected, and that will continue to be the case.

In no instance has material or content been "lifted" directly from that other place, as continues to be alleged in a public forum. I have not received proper notice from any property owner that I have improperly used their property. If anything appears on both sites it is clearly not "stolen," comprises less than 1% of the site's content, and I believe would be protected under copyright "fair use" definitions as allowed for parody and commentary. I am not an attorney (nor do I work with attorneys), so I could be mistaken. I have put forth effort to familiarize myself with "fair use" doctrine and believe I am in compliance.

At no point have I accused anyone else of committing "a crime and/or of having an affair with another person..." In no way is Rich Gannon's "good name" being "tarnished." (And if it was, I believe that to be completely legal when presented as opinion of a public figure.) In fact, I took time to write and publish a response that clarified my position on Rich Gannon and commended him on his involvement with a worthwhile organization. (That clarification, oddly enough, was greeted with another laughable response regarding the use of "BraveKids" and provision of a link to their site.) If Rich Gannon or a verifiable representative of Rich Gannon asks that I remove his likeness from the site, I will comply. If BraveKids requests that I remove the reference to their organization, I will remove the reference.

The only original reference to that other place was in place to clarify that the site was a parody of an existing site. That reference was in place from the start to eliminate any confusion or misunderstanding regarding the purpose of the site. The additional references to that other place's author are only there in response to what I consider to be false and defamatory statements.

Claims that I have violated Homestead's terms of use have yet to be substantiated. The claim that The Site is "misleading to others, including but not limited to, consumers" is farcical. While the content may be distasteful to some, I do not feel that it qualifies as "unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable." Only someone suffering from a delusional fugue would see any attempt to "impersonate any person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity."

Honestly, I have come to enjoy what began as a 2 hour weekend project even more than I originally thought I would, and I thank you all for allowing me to occupy your time and bulletin board space.

Stalkers last response was a little to "logical", and did not contain enough Gannon-fawning. The "Number One Fan" (think Misery - LOL) may becoming to stressed to maintain dual personalities! I am enjoying the show.

07-04-2001, 12:26 PM
Hey KPhobia,

It isn't me! My alibi for being absent this weekend was that I was out in California visiting my sweetie-pie.

07-04-2001, 12:31 PM
Kphobia - It is amazing to watch this, isn't it?

knows its neither of us.

07-04-2001, 12:34 PM
KCG, parody is protected by law. Fuggeddaboudit. Been down this road before. Unless Homestead surrenders to the torrential amount of e-mail one would assume the "victim" is sending them, I think your site will remain up and running.

07-04-2001, 05:31 PM
This is friggin' hilarious! I sense a certain moderator over at PsP is a quite annoyed by this parody. Why can't she just take a joke. She just needs to lighten up. As far as GS's identity goes, the suspense is killing me. We'll prob. never know now.

07-04-2001, 06:41 PM
This is boisterously entertaining, but if you are a true Chiefs fan arenít you going to cheer for the Chiefs?

07-04-2001, 08:51 PM

I can't take credit for it, although I really wish I could.

However, <b> if</b> homestead.com turns chicken****, I'd be proud to host it on my my site. I've got 500MB that I'd be <b>MORE</b> than willing to share with the author if necessary to keep up this shrine to skewering the over-pompous.

I just read the entire thread over at PSP. GEEZ, is someone full of themselves. Plus, as someone who writes for a living, parody is almost above the libel laws. A public figure is fair game... I believe she said so many times herself over on the Star's BB. :D

So, as I said, whoever built this site, keep up the good work.

OH, and DanT, thanks for the compliments about my site. I really appreciate them. I just updated it this past Friday (added about another 50 pages to the site).

07-04-2001, 09:32 PM
You are probably correct, Izen. I now fear for my physical and financial well-being, so will likely stay anonymous.

I hope I don't have to take you up on the offer, Misplaced, but if Homestead caves, I will. I have read some more material on what is allowable and continue to feel that the site does not contain anything illegal, despite someone else's continued claims to the contrary.

As for the site itself: I've cleaned up a number of typographical errors contained on the "Open Letter" page. I should know better than to publish something att 2am.

I have also added a preview for the upcoming preseason review of our beloved Chiefs. I've been busy with family stuff, so haven't had much time to devote to <a href="http://kcgannonstalker.homestead.com">The Site</a>.

Offensive personal attack removed!!!

Whatever joy you get out of this will be short-lived I can assure you.

Whatever I have done in the past to offend you, have I ever attacked you character or your passion as you are now doing to me?

A true man would be willing to stand up and take the responsibility for this act of terrorism.

I just finished lighting off my fireworks with the kids tonight and I noticed 3 Piccolo Pete's did not work. To say I was humiliated was an understatement!!!!

I had carefully arranged these on the ground to bust out their eardrums and they fizzled!! After numerous cat-calls and assorted raspberries I tucked tail with my children in tears.

Tomorrow, I'm going to talk with a lawyer friend of mine (my others are on vacation at this moment) and bring charges against the owner of the Fireworks stand for causing me this embarrassment.

07-04-2001, 11:48 PM
Just to inform all interested.

I just finished up a phone call with Rich. He assured me that he would back me up on tracing and prosecuting the culprit 100%. I assure you that his resources are virtually unlimited and we WILL find the party responsible.

An unprovoked attack such as this cannot be left with recourse. Be the victim myself or anyone else. This incident lost any humor when it suggested sex between Richard and myself. He is a happily married man and it puts his reputation at risk as well as my own.

Would you have followed through with this attack if I were a man? JC Johnny is as controversial as myself. Has he ever had to defend his reputation? NO!!!

This goes beyond Rich, me and the BBs. It is a matter of female aggression and suppression. It is mindless pranks such as this which cannot be left to be tossed aside. You may see it as a joke but I see it as an attack. An attack on me, and all women.

Human rights are at stake here as well as the abused freedom of the internet. This may be a small incident but it is a perfect example of why the internet needs to be monitored and IP address traced and kept on record. Youíre not only putting yourself at risk but the freedom of the internet as well!

Can you see how this can escalate to a human rights issue? NO YOU SAY! Taking away our internet freedom will lead to our rights to travel freely being taken away. What next?

07-04-2001, 11:51 PM
Personally, I hightly doubt you spoke with Rich Gannon. Maybe some other Rich, but not him.

Second, the site does NOT suggest sex between YOU and Gannon - in fact YOUR name is NEVER mentioned. The site's creator is named Dennis and I guess he's gay.... :D

LOL - if sending you a welcome message is the criteria du jour' for "true man", I'm quite confident that Cody IS the only true man here.

07-05-2001, 12:07 AM
I've been reading this all along and laughing to beat all. I knew it couldn't be Denise....but it was a very good joke. Now Kyle, I'm assuming from what you wrote you are the culprit? Sorry Denise, but it was funny and in good fun. Just someone razzing you for your like of Gannon. It's not that most of the people on here didn't wish we could have kept him. But once again the Chiefs made a poor decision......But we do have TRENT GREEN now! Who cares about the past??

I feel like I'm back in 4th grade. This is a classic case of "your calling me names, I'm gonna go tattle on you".

The whole site was a parody, meaning don't take it seriously.

I guess the Broncos fan site that puts Dick Vermeil in a garbage man outfit must be dealt with as well. Afterall, it is ruining his reputation as a head coach if he is portrayed to be a garbage man.

This is ridiculous. It was a joke. If Gannon really takes what is printed on a FICTIONAL webpage to heart, then he needs to toughen up.

I just saw Scary Movie 2 tonight, they did parodies of Titanic, the Exorcist, What Lies Beneath, and the Haunting and I'm sure the directors and producers of those movies won't get their feathers ruffled.

It's all in the name of fun. It's a shame that someone has a stick up their butt about it.

If Rich Gannon means that much to you, then the shoe must fit.

But look on the bright side, if a movie ever gets made about this, I'm sure they can get Glenn Close to play you, haha.

Never even suspected you, Otter (for the original that is). I stick with my original suspect. ;)

07-05-2001, 02:30 AM
I hate jumping in a thread halfway but I will respond to the original post

Last Oct. 15th(Chiefsvs.Raiders) as I was standing in Arrowhead stadium watching player introductions I was amazed at how Chiefs fans treat Gannon. I didnot hear 1 single boo from the crowd when Gannon was introduced. WHAT? WHY NOT? What did Gannon ever really do in KC? Did he help bring a championship? Hell did he ever get a playoff win? I know I know people will say Elpuko was the starter no question asked so he never got a chance but still, did he bring that big of an excitement to the football team that was never seen? I find it hard to fathom that Chiefs fans for some reason still find it in their heart to have an obligation to cheer for him. The most Gannon ever did in KC was cause a QB controversy that eventually lead us to the point we are now. Who cares if he won 6 games in a row when Elpuke was down, wasn't it the DEF that really won those games during that period of 10 consecutive 2nd half shutouts more so than Gannon? Gannon is a Raider now, not a Chief. He deserves to be booed, he desrves to be treated like every Raider. Gannon can only be laughing at the fans when he hears those cheers. Let's not give him incentive to feel welcome here anymore, or to play well, YANK that damn welcome mat from under his friggin feet, cut the friggin cord for Christs sake. He doesn't care if people cheer for him in Arrowhead, he just wants the win here to prove some ill-fated point that he was better suited for the QB when he was in KC. So what, that is the past, lets move on, Gannon has.

07-05-2001, 07:34 AM

I'm pretty sure Rich Gannon, Anna Kournikova and Tony Siragusa have more important things to do than to sue me. I don't recall mentioning any other names that can be legally attached.

This has been great!

Kudos to KCGannonStalker.

In addition, where EXACTLY did I libel Tony Saragusa, Elvis, Joe Horn? Where did I create outright lies about their person and repeat them in an attempt to harm their reputation?

I have personally witnessed, and been the victim of, her accusations and crazy venom for years. Apparently she feels it's OK to libel private individuals but not public personalities!

it is truly ironic that she doesn't realize the hypocracy of her own indignation!!!...

07-05-2001, 03:06 PM
Well, since I used to work in the "user abuse" department for a large ISP, I figured I would weigh in here...

1) Homestead won't do ****. Denise is exactly the kind of person we HATED to hear from, we did whatever it took to avoid them.

2) She has ZERO legal legs to stand on. She can't sue anybody over this, neither can Gannon.

Honorable mentions include Gaz slamming Ernzen a couple of years ago when Ernzen was looking for a new job, and of course, Tim Nunya's classic post last year just before the Chiefs played at Mile High (pooping the vending machine helmets).

Keep up the website, Stalker!

07-05-2001, 05:38 PM
I've made some minor changes to the web site that clarify my position as a Chiefs fan and correct typographical errors. I have also joined the <a href="http://www.eff.org/blueribbon/">EFF Blue Ribbon Campaign</a> and placed notification of such on <a href="http://kcgannonstalker.homestead.com">The Site</a>. I have been an active supporter of the EFF since its inception but have not felt in years that I might benefit directly from their support. How things change in the Land of the Litigious (and the home of the CHIEFS!).

I see that Hank has posted some material on the other board that I've already seen (and am sure that something will skew adequately to support its position). I stand firm in my belief that none of the material on the site is libelous, and it will remain available until I have either been substantially threatened with legal action or Homestead removes the site.

The part of the reference Hank omitted in his post, however, outlines that while it may not be illegal to link to another web site without the site author's permission, it would perhaps be ethical to remove the link if so requested. If proper effort is expended to request the removal of the link, I will comply. Until such notice is received (and public defamation and outrageous, unfounded claims do not count as "proper"), the link remains as-is.

To date, I have received no notice of any kind from the author of the lampooned site, the author's representatives, Rich Gannon, Rich Gannon's representatives, BraveKids or Homestead. With one vociferous exception, I have seen nothing but support for the site. It is greatly appreciated.

Through another user's kindness, I have made arrangements for transfer of the site should it disappear due to Homestead's action.

I would also like to add that while this entire string of events probably seems trivial and somewhat juvenile to some (the reference to Jerry Springer is accurate, I feel), it has in my mind become greater than that. What was initially created with the idea that its life-span would be less than 3 days and be viewed by perhaps 30 people, has spawned something about which I feel strongly.

The vehement protester has not expended one bit of effort to communicate its displeasure through traditionally accepted means, nor has that person attempted to obtain any mutually acceptable solution. That person has, instead, chosen to scream "lawsuit" from the very beginning.

To that, I quote Stan from Southpark:

"Dude! That smells like a$$!"

The great Chiefs fan just announced that she will <a href="http://www.pigskinpark.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000421">no longer maintain the site</a>. It will either transfer to another person, or disappear.

Which is very sad because alot of Raiders fans and Rich's friends, classmates, and fans really enjoyed having a place to keep up on him.

Who is stealing Gaz's form and patting himself on the back all at the same time.

07-05-2001, 06:36 PM
Honestly, it was never intended as an attack on the person. It was intended as an attack on the concept of an avowed Chiefs Fan publishing and maintaining what was clearly a Raider Fan site. In my opinion, the Rich Gannon Page is/was an embarrassment to the Kansas City Chiefs organization and its fans.

It quickly (too quickly) became something else, as is outlined below.

07-05-2001, 07:10 PM

You all seem to be assuming Logical is responsible for the Gannonstalker site. The skeweree is proclaiming on Pigskin Park that she's narrowed the list of suspects to Steve Ray or DavHill. Am I missing something here?

Personally I am in no hurry to find out who is responsible. :D

07-05-2001, 07:11 PM
Not exactly, but good try. But yes, I want that obscene excuse for a web site to vanish.

I'm saying that I tired of listening to the fecal matter spewing forth from a certain individual's keyboard for the past few years. I tired of reading squiggle after squiggle and contradiction of contradiction. I tired of seeing an obvious fan of the Raider franchise pass itself off as a Kansas City Chief fan and get mention on ESPN.com. I was sickened when Gannon received an ovation when he first arrived at Arrowhead after becoming a Raider, and the site in question personified that act, in my opinion.

Many have tried to stifle her Fountain of Feces, but no attempt has achieved much success. I simply struck MY blow where I felt it would be most effective.

I too worry (not much, due to truly moderate moderators) about trolls taking over ChiefsPlanet as they did the KC Star Bulletin Board, and thought long and hard about posting anything here. I decided to go ahead and post, and deemed the response received to be acceptable.

If I somehow offended your sensibilities, I apologize. I did what I felt was needed to lance the boil.

07-05-2001, 07:13 PM
I just posted this on The Park (it's the only time I've posted there). I felt some real legal expertise was needed.

There is a legal aspect of libel that I haven't seen anyone mention...
There must be tangible damages. A person must make a case that the libel cost them something.

In this case, I think the screamee would have a hard time proving even intangible damages.

After all, what type of reputation did she think she had before the site was put up?

filling in the legal blanks... :D

I too just posted at the Park, for the first, and hopefully, last time...

I love how you go about this, acting like you're fighting this to "protect" the good name of Rich Gannon. If he needs protecting so bad, why doesn't isn't he threatening lawsuits? Because he's smart enough to know that 1) it's a parody and 2) there's no legal basis for a lawsuit. I don't usually attack anyone, and although you and I have had disagreements in the past, I offer this advice in the most sincere way possible:

Drop the threats of lawsuits. It will get you nowhere, and could possibly get you in trouble.

GannonStalker and everyone else:

I used to work for an ISP and worked closely with the FBI in turning information over for prosecution of child pornography cases. Denise claims to have the "ISP address" of the offender (it's an IP address by the way). If she wants to use that IP address to ban that person from a site or otherwise restrict access to a site SHE OWNS, fine. However, she CANNOT use that IP to find that person and sue them unless it was obtained legally with a WARRANT. I highly doubt she had the foresight to get one...

For those that want an update, here is the latest of 4 complaint/demand emails received from the creator of KCGannonFan.Homestead.com :

SECOND request.

Please remove at once any and all references my web site. Removing the a
link and replacing it with the address is not sufficient to meet my
request that your site not be linked to mine in anyway.

While you seem completely unable to comprehend almost everything else said to you, at least you learned to count.

I think the text KCGannonFan.homestead.com will stay on my web page for now. As you yourself so eloquently "reasoned" somewhere else, someone might stumble across the site and not realize that it's a joke. Neither one of us would want that to happen, would we? I promised to remove the link if you requested, and did so immediately upon receiving your request.

I removed the link only because I felt that perhaps you view a hypertext link as a magical device that transports the user to your beloved site. What remains on my site is nothing more or less than a footnote or bibliographical reference.

In case you missed out on it, the web was built upon a foundation of linking. The prevalent view of the net community is that you have made your site available for linking without the need to obtain consent. The entire culture of the web is based on the notion of free accessibility.

To clarify, since you seem to have difficulty understanding:

Since you seem to always find a way to mention your important friends, perhaps one of them can introduce you to Tim Berners-Lee and you can get his take on the issue.

My guess is that you feel that including the text KCGannonFan.homestead.com is some sort of copyright infringement. If that is the case, you are clearly and unquestionably wrong. The URL KCGannonFan.homestead.com is equivalent to a street address. The URL KCGannonFan.homestead.com has no original or expressive content that is protected by copyright law.

Hey - Denise - Ask one of your lawyer people what the term "Public Domain" means. You might get a surprise. Too bad you've already made an a$$ of yourself. AGAIN!!!!!

Way to go KcGannonStalker. Knock that Faider fan flat on her @ss.

Finally someone has put this benedict arnold in her place.

Originally I commented on your posts on the Planet as weak. First let me apologize, you have handled yourself extremely well.

Second let me compliment you on your parody site which is indeed hilarious.

And finally it is clear you have done what many of us have attempted, brought Denial's inability to handle a complex situation and to whine about it continuously so clearly forward that everyone has seen it and acknowledged the same.

A hearty Well Done

I did not realize you said that, Logical. I'll have to talk to my attorney and see if I can find remedy for that.

If you have enjoyed the Rich Gannon Page as much as I have, it's still available online by clicking <a href="http://kcgannonfan.homestead.com/index1.html">here</a>. <a href="http://kcgannonstalker.homestead.com">The Site</a> has been updated to reflect the URL, since I would not want anyone to think that the Rich Gannon Shrine was anything but a joke.

It has also been noted that a certain individual's potentially libelous comments and accusations have been removed from PsP. Someone went to a lot of effort to erase their tracks, it seems, as other posts from said individual still populate the databse.

Rest assured, Litigious One, that all comments formerly stored on PsP have been duly archived and documented for posterity as they occurred.

07-07-2001, 11:31 AM
I haven't been able to read all the posts, but did anyone fess up to making that site yet? LOL....I have to admit, it is good and done well. Congrats to whoever did do it.;)

Any time you think that I might have omitted something from one my posts, please come over to the Park and confront me directly with it... 'hero'.

07-07-2001, 03:32 PM
"Hero" back at ya, Hank. It would appear that there is more than one good soul at PsP with thin skin.

No offense was intended when I pointed out that there was additional material on the page you cited, as it is quite a lengthy page. I can see how you might have read my post as some sort of personal affront, however. My apologies.

I simply felt that the excerpt you posted was perhaps truncated prematurely, as the information immediately following was also applicable to the situation being discussed.

I enjoyed this show for a while. I really did.
It's like those playground fights that draw a crowd.
Someone was knocked off their high horse and got theirselves muddied up a little. We all cheered.

That being said, I think it is time for Stalker to retire himself. It is becoming "kicking someone when they are down."

Most of our fictional superheros know that when the job is done, it is time to dissappear. Superman goes back to being Clark Kent. Spiderman goes back to being Peter Parker. The Hulk -> Dr. Bannon. They don't stick around for beers and backslaps with the guys. They return to anonymity. I think it is time for Stalker to do the same. He can leave us a silver bullet to remember him by.

As I said: unsolicited advice - and free to boot, and maybe worth the price.

07-07-2001, 03:56 PM

Apology accepted. There see, it's not that difficult to settle differences and we didn't need to make a web site to do it. :)

I'm really not that thin skinned but I will say that this parody thing has gone beyond being funny. No doubt Denise reacted badly but what did you expect? It was a joke at first but now it's more like pouring salt in the wound and sharks on a feeding frenzy seeking vengeance, imo. So what was originally funny is now not funny. I guess you can say that my sense of humor is kind of short-lived.

07-07-2001, 07:50 PM
I'll agree that the point has been made. I'll also state that the last line of the post by Hank..."has now become mean and vindictive"...I think that it's ironic, that describes the way Denise treated EG, CP, GC and the Chiefs in general for the last two years. Not two weeks. TWO years. It was as predictable as her response.

No way. Superman, the Hulk, and Spiderman don't retire, they merely wait for evil to rear its ugly head again. And Demise is an evil that just won't go away. Payback has not even come close to being achieved.

I agree with Brock. Keep firing away, KCGannonStalker. Your work is hilarious!!!!

don't stop, KCGS!!! And stay on the Planet for as long as you like!!!!!

BRUCE BANNER.......Hulk turns to Banner.....

But I always did like the Hulk better....Keep up the good work Stalker! :D

Denise is a Raiduh Fan. Who cares!

I say treat her the way Raiduh fan treats their opponets...
You got her down piss on her!

I find it interesting that there are those that are saying, "enough!"

What is it that you want KCGannonStalker to cease doing?

Admittedly, I don't follow the Pen very well, But I haven't witnessed KCGS to be pro-active in this for some days now. The posts I've read are him simply being reactive to Denise's wild (and on-goining) accusations.

The truth is, I kind of miss his postings that don't name her, but do an outstanding job of immitating her.

He has a parody web site. So what? The only one I see continously talking about it is Denise.

Is there anyone that doesn't know that this attention is exactly what she feeds on?

She is in her element.

I don't know if 'enjoyment', 'satisfaction', or 'sense of importance' is the right way to describe it, but she is far from devestated by this situation ~ she's eating it up.

there is nothing to cease and desist from...

07-08-2001, 10:37 AM

As usual you are making sense. How you been, I have not seen much of your postings this offseason. Anyway good points you have made below.

07-08-2001, 10:38 AM
Of course I will cheer Richie......when they haul him off the field on a cart after Hicks has "Gusa'd" him!

07-08-2001, 10:51 AM
Hey Ken Man, You can also cheer Rich when he cocks his arm and drops the ball. Nobody does it better! Got Ritas and Strawberry Daqs! If you get out stop by and see us. I'll be doing my Jimmy Buffett impression which is always worth a LOL.

Thanks Jim.

It's been a busy offseason for me.

but i'll still try and keep my hand in the game...

07-08-2001, 11:24 AM
Gannon is a Raider........enough said.

07-08-2001, 11:32 AM
First, let me say that I detest alledged Chiefs fans that have cheered for or will cheer for Gannon.

However, I don't want to see him injured.

My Chief-TRaider fantasy for this upcoming season is to have the Chiefs leading late in both games, TRaiders with the ball, time running out, and Gannon choking away the opportunity to either tie or putthe TRaiders in the lead.

That would be sweet on so many levels, I just don't think I could handle the unmitigated joy.

07-08-2001, 11:52 AM
Stalker has done the right thing and in doing so has demonstrated that he's a class act.
Why do Faider antics and draw a personal foul penalty with a late hit?
KCGannonStalker comes out of this the undisputed winner and deserves credit for handling the situation like an All-Pro.
Also, R&G looks better then BS anyway.

Gannon's career peaked last year... so it's all good for us baby!

Multiple High 5's for Stalker!

Thanks for the correction to Bruce Banner, reaffirming my need to research my every comment! LOL I'm lucky I didn't say Spiderman went back to Andre Rison.

It is just my take. One can choose to be as bad as your foe, fighting fire with fire, - or one can choose to demonstrate the difference between theirselves and their foe. My Opinion Only- is that is classier to behave better than a Faider fan. Just my opinion. I think I left Stalker plenty of room to ignore my opinion, and I wouldn't fault him if he did. He is his own person. He stated in one of his posts that he originally intended his site to only stay up 2-3 days to make his point, but things became more heated when Demise came back from the bright lights of St. Louie. I think that original thought came from a cooler head, his point was made in spades, Demise got her nose bloodied. Demise suffers from last-word-itis, an affliction common on the BB, she may have the worst case. Since she removed her posts from the PSP and moved her site, I think that we can say Stalker won the day and got her to shutup for once. (Will she never post again? - unlikely.) As I said, it is just my take, and I don't expect anyone to consider it anything but my opinion.

Anyway, Stalker may have said his farewell on the Haiku thread.

07-08-2001, 02:28 PM
I know I'm posting this about 6 pages later, but better late than never :) And, geez, the whole thing with Denise has been a hoot to read. Obviously, I don't post much much, but I do rely on you fine folks to stay up on the Chiefs. Along with other interesting topics!!

Back to the newspaper thing...if anyone still cares. Last season, before the final Titans/Ravens game, a poster on the titans board suggested the newspaper thing. It took on a life of it's own, but unfortunately the only areas to actively participate were the endzones. The local press wouldn't touch it, despite repeated pleas. But they did mention the next day...I guess after they saw the outcome.

In the 2001 Athlon Pro Football issue, the stunt actually made the publication with a picture and a caption. It is in a section that is a prediction for the upcoming season. Found on page 22. Of course, locally here in Tn., Eddie George is on the cover. I don't know who is on the cover in KC; I will find out this week when I am back there. If there are any mag's left!!

If anyone is really interested in doing the newpaper thing, you might want to send emails, and make phone calls to the sports desk at the Star, and mention the blurb in Athlon. Arrowhead could very well be the first to accomplish this feat in the NFL, as your game with the faiders is before the Titans/ravens home game in November. Good Luck :)

Actually, you are both correct. In the comic, the Hulk's alter ego was named Bruce, but on the television series, they inexplicably changed his name to David.

Sorry, not going back over 800 posts to find out. I'm impatient.....

Must know.......:(

I'm a few days late and a dollar short!

No actually, in both the comic book and the TV series the man's name is Dr. David Bruce Banner.

In the comics, he was referred to as Bruce. In the series he was referred to as David.

In both, the name was Banner, not Bannon.

07-08-2001, 08:55 PM
Bonus points if you can name his teen sidekick.

07-08-2001, 09:25 PM
I was more of a Spiderman fan (no, not Brock Middlebrook, or Andre Rison, hell, did he even know who he was from one day to the next?) and The Fantastic Four, but I believe the teen sidekick name was Rick, tho I'll never be able to remember the last name.

07-09-2001, 01:28 AM
Yeah, Rick Jones. I was a fan of the web-slinger myself, also the FF. Still have quite a collection (2 army foot lockers), though it's nothing like it once was.

Bob Dole
07-09-2001, 05:47 PM
Bob Dole liked the Fantastic Four, but never really got into the comic thing too much. Bob Dole spent most of his spare change on Wacky Packages and Cracked Magazine.

What the heck happened to the site(s) that were discussed earlier in the thread? Bob Dole wanted a humor injection and both Gannon sites are gone and Bob Dole can't find an explanation...

07-09-2001, 07:27 PM
I decided to let someone else run with the Banner thing (having written a short story for Marvel on the Hulk, I have access to reference material).

Just for the record: The Hulk was originally named Bruce Banner. Then they were having problems with copyright and royalties with the TV show, so they changed it to David Banner. Once all the lawyers were happy, they retconned the comic series to add David as his first (but unused) name. Gotta love the lawyers and beancounters who screw the talent.

Brock> I understand. Between my wife and I, I've got close to 42 long boxes of comics stored away. Unfortunately, none of my original collection survived my divorce. But the new stuff is fun, and I primarily only buy stuff that people I know (and like) are working on. Especially guys doing independent work.

07-09-2001, 07:59 PM

I can't get an explanation either. Stalker took his down because it had apparently "served its purpose".

Denise took hers down because she was pouting. I guess.....

07-09-2001, 09:16 PM
Wow.....so were you a "fanboy?" :D

Read the Hulk as a kid and later as an adult guilty pleasure...A writer I dream to be, and if successful I'd love to go back and write for Marvel or one of the Comics I loved as a kid. When I heard Kevin Smith did a stint on DD I had ta' check it out.....

I'd love ta' discuss more on the subject, just not in here...:D

07-09-2001, 09:58 PM
Fanboy.... No, not really, but I did collect comics in college (beat the hell out of reading the text books). Been reading comics since 1965 and started writing them in 1992 (after I got back from Desert Storm). Mainly worked independents, except for the one short story I sold to Marvel/Byran Preiss.

I enjoy being in the comic industry, even if it's on the fringes. But I admit, I'm highly jealous of the artists. I can see the pictures so clearly, but it just doesn't reach my fingertips. That's probably why my scripts have so much detail in them, it's like I'm writing things for a camera.

Not quite appropriate for the subject, agreed. Drop me a Smoke Signal sometime if you're interested.

Im really sorry I missed this thread last week, I didnt get to see all the bruhaha that was caused by the parody site, but I did read the balance of the thread and have to say it was quite funny.

As I said in one of the early posts on this thread, D had a link to an 'anti-chiefs' site that she labled 'not for the sense of humor challenged'. I remarked that it was odd that she put that on there because there are many things (her gannon shrine in particular) she does not have a sense of humor about.

KCGS's parody site proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, just how little 'sense of humor' she had in a wonderful display of exposing once again yet another double standard of hers and she all to predictably started raging about lawsuits and libel and all that other stuff that good little totalitarians do.

To her, if it's mean and vindictive in a joking way that's not aimed at something she holds dear, it's 'funny' and for those that need to have a sense humor.

if it's mean/vindictive in joking way that is aimed at something she holds dear, it's not funny and those that laugh about it are racist, homophobe, wife beaters, [insert other boogie man here].

Cudos to KCGS...it was time well spent.
