Well, here goes:

1) Our strength is defense. We will play to our strength.
2) But, we've got to score more points.
3) But, our offense sucks.
4) But, we've got to figure out how to win.

Count Zarth
11-20-2007, 12:26 PM
5) We will not allow any defender to hit Brodie Croyle this year. We can't block, so we will run more, and throw passes as quickly as possible.

I imagine he said something like:
"You know you can win in the NFL with the score of 3-0!!!"

7) So why not have the passing game suck right along with it?

Donger

7) So why not have the passing game suck right along with it?

8) Of course, we don't KNOW if the passing game sucks. We're assuming that, and passing it off as if it were a proven fact.

Count Zarth
11-20-2007, 12:32 PM
8) Of course, we don't KNOW if the passing game sucks. We're assuming that, and passing it off as if it were a proven fact.

9) But you can't be too careful these days. If we tried to discover a passing game, it might just blow up in our face.

Donger
11-20-2007, 12:33 PM
10) And, that's how you lose games.... Wait a minute...

HemiEd
11-20-2007, 12:37 PM
4) But, we've got to figure out how to win.

I have been predicting this one for over a year and a half. Last time I heard a coach use that one, it went on for about eight years and 3 coaching changes. If he doesn't know how to win, why is he our HC?

Probably something along the lines of, I hope no one realizes I'm a fraud yet, er, I mean, it's okaaaaay.

Donger
11-20-2007, 12:38 PM
11) F*ck it. I'm flustrated. I'm just going to forfeit the game, go out to the Arrowhead logo and do this:

He says you have to play to your strengths...the Chiefs have the 30th/31st ranked offensive rushing stats and they keep running. When is being last in the league at something been a strength?

HonestChieffan
11-20-2007, 12:46 PM
Oh come on, we can do better and when we do you are going to look so foolish for being a negative boob.

“Our job is to get this quarterback through the next six games, where he can be successful and win games. That’s the key. It’s about the quarterback. How can we make this guy successful?”

“I’m not going to send him out there and get him beat up and destroy his confidence. It does no good for his organization, and does no good for that quarterback. I’ve seen a lot of quarterbacks, all of a sudden you put them in positions where you know they can’t be successful, and all of a sudden you’ve got a disaster on your hands. We’re not gonna do that to this kid. We’re not going to do that to this football team. We’re trying to win, and there’s a way you win games. We have to win a certain way right now.”

What game did you watch Sunday? The Chiefs didn't give it a chance to be anything but suck for the most part. When they actually let Croyle throw down the field - ONE DRIVE - we looked great.

Then we went back to throwing sideways passes and dumpoffs.

Herm compared the Indianapolis game to last year's game at Denver, when they coddled Huard.

If we played to our strengths we'd find a way to utilize our passing game more effectively. Considering...

Offensive Passing Rank: 17
Offensive Rushing Rank: 31

No no! We must run the ball 30 times a game. Absolutely imperative we do that.

Herm's insightful answer to getting home-field advantage back at Arrowhead is "win a game."

I'll reserve my final judgment until the end of the season to see if we improve. However, watching the offense go from what it was last season (decent, nothing spectacular) to what it is this season (embarrassing), is very upsetting. Especially since we didn't have any kind of decrease in talent (sans Waters; and I doubt he is responsible for the free-fall we're in now).

If anything, we upgraded in talent.

Count Zarth
11-20-2007, 01:26 PM
Especially since we didn't have any kind of decrease in talent.

Losing Will Shields was a big blow. We can't run the football because we lost Shields and Jordan Black, who was actually a pretty decent run blocker.

We also lost Terry Shea and Trent Green, who had a big hand in preparing Huard to play well, and keeping up the aggressiveness on offense.

We also lost Eddie Kennison for half the season, which had a HUGE impact on the passing game.

Finally, we didn't play the pathetic defenses of the NFC West four times.

Oh, and we simplified the offense.

WHEE!

I have to give Rhonda Moss some credit. She asked one question knowing full well that it was going to piss Herm off, "Why is the play calling so conservative?"

I was listening on the radio and you could almost hear Herm's last two synapses overloading.

Some of us think there is a lot of talent on this team, so the obvious answer would be coaching IMO.

This reminds me of when Gunther came back, he needed all pro bowl players to get the job done.
Pretty much the majority of the talent aquisition has been directed at the defense for quite a while. It took a Defensive HC to even get it going in the right direction.

So now, many are saying we don't have enough offensive talent.

It reminds me of the dog trying to catch his tail.

I have a feeling he will do everything in his power to fix the offensive line this offseason.

And as long as his philosophy of not throwing the ball past the chains continues, teams will stack 8, 9, 10 guys in the box. Net result = no improvement...

Herm pulled this same crap after the Cleveland game last year (I think that was the one). The offense gave him a 14 point, 4th quarter lead or so, the defense blew it, and in the presser Herm said the offense couldn't answer.
