my kids have been really having fun with this

I had one student that asked "what do I get out of this"

I said

"increased vocabulary and the satisfaction that you are helping world hunger"

I hear that Phillip Morris has the same thing, but you do math problems to give cigarettes to starving children.

gawd damned hippie bullshit. Go hug a tree.

Figured I'd be the first one to say something along these lines.

I donated 1000 grains so that should be a couple spoonfuls. Probably play later nice time waster.

my kids used encarta dictionary so they could do better

I walked by them and they would click off of it.

I guess they thought they were cheating...but they can use anything to increase their vocabulary.

I think it is pretty neat

If you miss a word, do they take food away from the children?

no, you move down a level on difficulty

I was doing great until I stumbled up on disigerent. I don't have the ambition to carry on. 440 grains of rice should make a small riceball for a poor Thai girl.

Well, I peaked at level 38... donated 1000 grains. Which is not all that much I guess.

Doesn't that mean that they take ten grains of rice away, though? I can't handle the guilt of them taking rice away from some little Ethiopian kid just because I don't know what "loofah" means.

I won't participate. They are associate with communist Bono and the socialist One Campaign.

Add your name to the One Campaign (http://www.one.org/), where several million people have already joined together “as One” to end hunger and extreme poverty. If enough people join, dreams for a better world can be made into reality very quickly.

1300 grains of rice, then I had to quit. One grain of rice really isn't much, I wonder how many it takes to fill a decent sized bowl.

I went to Africa in May. There are better ways to help Africa. Africa is almost hopeless until their political systems change. Giving them rice and condoms isn't the answer.

So you are saying that we need to go to war with most of Africa?
