We need more first day picks to get Kolby some big uglys. what do u guys think?

Unfortunately no.

banyon

Not with his huge contract. I mean, we could offer to pay part of it if a team wanted to take him, but what do you think the likelihood of Carl Peterson dong that is?

OnTheWarpath58
12-02-2007, 04:39 PM
He has little to no value, IMO

That contract was a killer. If no one wanted him before it, who's gonna want him after?

Mecca

Not now....his contract and the fact that he has shown decline with his workload.

Dammit Carl!

Probably not.

The guy who i think does have some trade value is Gonzo.

If the Chiefs are truly committed to re-building and not just PR, then they should look at moving him for some picks.

FringeNC

If we traded him, I think we'd take the huge hit, and the acquiring team may not take that big of a hit. In a sense, we'd be selling salary cap space.

'Hamas' Jenkins

He's probably the most untradeable guy this side of Michael Vick.

I'm betting that LJ would simply "Randy Moss" us.

Suck while he is here but as soon as he goes to contender... we would see the old Larry we knew and loved.

I think if we had another 1st-2nd round draft pick we could really improve our oline a ton, but that is just me

I have a great idea.

We can trade Huard, I'm sure there's a huge market for the guy.

I'm not sure, Mr. Priest4Prez. There are factors that have changed since last off season. His contract is pretty big (especially for a RB). Even though much of the compensation is in the signing bonus, it's a big hit for a running back.

Then, there's the new injury. He might pass a physical but will teams think he's worn down?

At this point, I think LJ is ours for the duration. In retrospect, not dealing LJ last summer will probably go down as one of the worst "business" decisions of the Carl era which brings up another Herm concern.

If Herm is truly the phenominal talent evaluator people would like you to believe, why didn't he know that Kolby had the juice to replace LJ and save us 800 million dollars in cap money? As time passes, I'm increasingly skeptical of Herm's ability to evaluate players.

We aren't getting a first rounder for anyone on this roster...

Yeah, contract considerations aside, he still has no trade value.

Zouk

Contract is 100% untradable with the salary cap. Trading him would likely make him cost more than $15 million on the 2008 cap.

I don't like the contract either, but there it is. We married it.

Priest4Prez

It was definately a horrible decision to resign him. Carl caved badly, and that is why he should be fired right now, in my opinion.

You guys act like LJ is washed up.

Dude can still play. Even if hes never as good as he was the past 2 years, he can still be productive in the right system.

Not with FA looming. Even if we tag him, we couldn't get a 1st.

We could get a first for Allen I'm sure.I certainly hope you're not advocating trading our monster of a DE.

Because he's the guy we need to rebuild our defense around. He is everything to that side of the ball. He's been a ghost in the 2nd half for the past couple of weeks, but the Chiefs in general have been.

Hell no. We couldn't get a ham sammich for LJ now.

Unfortunately, the right system is in Dallas.

We're not talking about the right system. We're talking about our system. Kolby Smith looks like he should start. LJ will make a nice back-up, though.

LJ/Kolby Smith could be a very nice tandem.

LJ would probably bitch and moan if they split his carries though...

Exactly.

rebuild this line, get a QBoTF, tighten up the D. Things will be looking alot better.

Easier said than done. My guess is it takes two years to get this team turned around, and thats if everything works out as planned.

Nice. $19 million for an adequate RB.

LJ would probably bitch and moan if they split his carries though...Why would he care? That's kinda like someone offering to keep paying me $20 an hour to do half the work. Sounds like a sweet deal.

He's definately prideful..but he doesn't want to run behind this line all by himself.

Im not ready to write him off yet. He did show flashes this year in spurts.

Hopefully he comes back next year with a better attitude and in great shape.

Oh i agree..but if there is a franchise QB sitting there when we draft, it would be hard to pass up. Competition is good.

LJ should just take a medical retirement like PH did. He lost his heart to play football a few years ago.

LJ is like the Cowardly Lion on Wizzard of OZ-except with a 9mm to pistol whip bitches and Ho's.

And why was Vermeil paid over $15 million dollars during his tenure yet he let Ryan Lilja GO? Not buried on the roster but set free?

Vermiel tenure as a talent evaluator is on par with is ability to win playoff games in Kansas City.

DV was another story entirely, Mr. DaneMcCloud. A guy who had the sense to bring in players like Trent Green and Priest, but he keeps players like Hicks and drafts Donut Boy.

I'm not sending any Christmas presents to DV, either. Some people have excused Herm on the basis that he had to deal with all of DV's stupid moves - which is true. On the other hand, Herm also had the benefit of DV's good players including LJ but decided that it was best to sign a bunch of knuckleheads, fools, and narcoleptics and call them an oline.

Some mock drafts show us taking Andre Woodson, QB for Kentucky.

No way. I would be furious if we traded Allen. I was just replying to Mecca's post that there is no one on the Chiefs' roster we could get a first for. I believe we could get a first for JA, God forbid.
