I am in the same boat. Almost went ahead but just couldn't justify.

I got the XBOX 360 addon that came with King Kong and 5 free HD movies.

I sent in everything, but forgot to include the proof of purchase from the box. I assumed I was screwed.

To my surprise, they sent me a letter asking for it, and my DVD's are on the way.

I figured I'd never hear anything one way or the other. Nice customer service, there.

Exactly.

Movies, music, sports, video games, gamblingIt's just a product of having disposable income. Being a citizen of a wealthy country has it's perks.

I think the movie companies duped the American public into buying DVDs. Hardly anyone I knew bought that many movies on VHS. Then they switch formats, the marketing takes on some kind of new, long-lasting sheen, and BOOM! It seems like movie sales went through the roof.

Five years later HDDVDs come out. Those sons of BITCHES.

I have bought one DVD in close to a year, and I have probably between 300-400 by now. I just burn all of them now.

Unfortunately HD/BD writers are either unavailable or not affordable, and the discs are ridiculously expensive.

All in due time, though.
