Enjoy Nzoner, I haven't been without power in the winter, but I did it for a month or so on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the dead of summer after Katrina, it sucked alot.

I got lost in the country, tried doing a U turn, but it turns out there was a ditch under that snow, got stuck, walked to some farm house and finally got out a couple hours later at about 1 am. FROZE MY NUTS OFF! It was also like the one night I've ever forgot my phone too.

About the same here. Still didn't stop me from going outside to smoke, at the bar tonight. (bastards). But I only went when I really had to...

There were a handful of smokers braving the elements, but not many. And I certainly felt no need whatsoever to have one of my once-a-week cigars.

The bar I go to will occasionally still let people smoke, if the owner is there and she knows that there aren't any anti-smoking faggots around who will cry to the cops about it. But she wasn't there tonight.

Stumppy's story reminds me of my first apartment. It was in a shitty old two story house that had been converted into three apartments. During the winter of '84 (very cold in Kirksville) the heat went out and the landlady (who hated me, no doubt with good reason) didn't fix it. At first I just left the oven door open and cranked up the temperature to 500, but then one night the oven died (I assume the old bitch shut the gas off since I didn't suffocate or get blown up) and the temperature dropped like a stone. I was buried under blankets, and woke up to the sight of my breath almost crystalizing in front of me. The only difference in temperature between inside and outside was inside there was no wind. One of the windows was cracked, and there was actually a pile of snow on the floor underneath it. When I went in the bathroom and turned on the hot water, the steam completely filled the apartment. That was trippy.

At that point I called my stepmom, who apparently knew shit like that was illegal. I don't know what she said to the bitch landlady, but my heat was fixed later than morning.

19 right now, supposed to get down to 1 later this week. The snow is what pisses me off, especially when you live in a state that doesn't use salt or sand hardly at all. You are out of commission for two days because of 4-6 inches of snow.

And 19 is cold enough when you dress like a southerner wearing a tee shirt, light jacket, no gloves or hat, and no thermals. I do it to myself, but it still sucks. :)

Bugeater may attest to this or dismiss it but...

I'm fairly certain that we are on the cusp of Armageddon. I'm pretty sure that we are at the dawn of the new ice age and no one will survive. I've actually recognized my stupidity for losing about 20 pounds here in the last month. Sure I may be healthier, but what good is that if I have ice-sicles hanging off my dick? I guess I'll make a good looking popsicle.
Fucking Ted Williams is warmer where he is right now.

We're headed for a high of 0, by the end of the week. And another 4-8"s of snow in the next couple of days, depending on who you listen to...

KC's breaking records, and I'm sick to death of it. I've resorted to longing for 30 degree days.

(Snow's better than ice, though... freezing rain is the worst.)

Not sure what the temperature was today. But I just have to rub it in and say that My wife and I went to dinner in the convertible tonight with the top down. And I was out riding my bike today in a t-shirt.

It was a bit of a chilly ride coming home from work at 6 this morning on the bike. I think the low was around 51.

I've had a wild wide in the midwest. When I got here in '99 we were in the middle of a drought and the whole ****ing summer was a billion degrees with a thousand percent humidity. It didn't snow in the winter, and didn't get all that cold compared to virginia, but we kept having these goddamn ice storms that knocked power out days at a time. But all-and-all, winter was a joke. And now summers have gotten milder, almost enjoyable, and winter's turning into this brutally cold shit with snow that never melts.

I was surprised it wasn't screwed up this morning. Of course, even if it is, it's still better than driving the Eisenhower/Reagan combo.

I remember I drove in the Wednesday before Thanksgiving a few years ago thinking I could get home faster if I had my car if my office closed early. It didn't, and a horrible snow storm hit early in the day. I left at 4:00, didn't get home until almost 8:00. I'd have gotten home faster riding a fucking horse. :grr:

I snow blowed today from 6am until 9am. Luckily it wasn't blowing hard here at that time. But its blowing like a sumbitch right now. The 4-6 inchs we got will be blowed two counties away if this keeps up until 6pm tonight.

We are sub zero right now with strong wind gust.

Oh how I wish Al Gore would come to the midwest to give a press conf. right now.
He'd be laughed off the stage. Friday our high is to be -3 and Saturday morning
