This one is going to kick ass!! Liddell -v- Silva is an ubercard... only a Chuck Norris/Bruce Campbell bout can compare; and then of course, the earth would be destroyed, so thank all that is holy Norris and Campbell tolerate the other. :D

Mohr is a tough fighter; trains in Davenport IA with some damn good MMA partners. Should be a solid match.

Gamburyan is a tough little mofo - I expect him to win by decision

Liddell is gonna get his ass stomped again and will lead to his retirement.

after the "dean of mean" beat him I don't think Chuck has much left to give.

This is probably Liddells last chance to show he isn't washed up. Hughes too for that matter. St. Pierre is THE MAN.

Great Card. I wish Serra was fighting Hughes, though.

I really grew to like him watching TUF.

I've been overdosing on UFC lately. I'm pretty new to the sport, and I've been downloading a ton of past UFC's and TUF seasons.

Just last night, I watched the first Forrest Griffin - Stephen Bonner fight. WOW!

TUF should be fun next season with Forrest and Rampage coaching.

I may be the only one looking forward to Machida vs Sokoudjou more than Liddell vs Silva. 4 years too late, but I'll still be watching intently.

TUF should be fun next season with Forrest and Rampage coaching.

The fight between the coaches could be interesting. Griffin is tough, but he did lose to Keith Jardine (a tough fighter as well, but come on... FG should not have lost to Jardine!).

Rampage knocked Liddell the eff out. Rumor is Liddell wasn't taking the fight seriously; or at least not seriously enough. He was reportedly out partying quite a bit in the weeks leading up to the fight. Rampage, on the other hand, stuck to his Pride training regimen; it showed.

There are still tix available. ;)

Come on, you know you wanna party in Vegas and watch people get stomped

I am going for Rush!Shocking. :p

GSP's a beast. I couldn't believe the way Serra took him out. I think Serra was the second most surprised guy in the building, right behind GSP.

Rush was distracted by Serra's freaky little mutant right bicep. "Dude, that thing is creepy... keep it the @#%$ away from me.... *BAM* d'oh!"

Not that I would ever say it to his face, or within 30 miles of him, but shouldn't Liddell be considering retirement at this point?

I'll do my best here.

Mark Bocek -v- Doug Evans
RoanCarneiro -v- Tony Desouza/ I am a Desouza fan BIG TIME. I think he will win.

Jordan Radev -v- Dean Lister

Nate Mohr -v- Manny Gamburyan / I'll take Manny.

Luis Cane -v- James Irvin

Sao Palelei -v- Eddie Sanchez

Rich Clementi -v- Melvin Guillard / I would think Melvin has a pretty good chance here.

Lyoto Machida -v- Rameau Sokoudjou / Machida by KO.

Chuck Liddell -v- Wanderlei Silva / This is a really tough one to pick. Wandy hasn't fought in so long it is really hard to know how sharp he will be. word is Chuck has brought in special help in training for this fight. I would take Wandy in this but I won't be laying any real money on it.

Matt Hughes -v- Georges St-Pierre / I think GSP repeats but look forward to what could be a really good fight. don't count MH out of this one.

BD, why do you like Desouza? Anything about him that really impresses you, like wise I picked him to win but am not a huge fan.

He's a submission master. I have him in a bunch of training video's and I really like the guy. I think he has been training with Penn which should tell you a lot about the guy.

Penn is one of the most fun to watch IMO, that is very interesting.

I believe that Desousa was an assistant coach for Team Penn on UF season 5.

Fights were awesome! Recommendation for anyone wishing to attend: buy the cheap seats - there are camermen located around the ring obstructing your view. They put huge jumbotrons in the arena to compensate... so most people watch those, then glance to the stage, then look back to the screen. Might as well save a couple hundred bucks and sit in nosebleed if you're just going to watch it on the screen anyway.

Also, be prepared to be there for at least five hours. There are undercard bouts that they don't show on PPV. There were at least five of those. It's great if you're a fight fan, but if you just want to see the big names you should arrive a couple hours later than the gate open.

Memorable Fights:

Nate Mohr -v- Manny Gamburyan - Manny won with ease. He was out in the crowd for later fights... cool dude. Tiny. I was shocked by how little the guy is.

Luis Cane -v- James Irvin - Irvin won by disqualification. That knee to the noggin realy messed him up. He was placed on a stretcher after leaving the Octagon.

Sao Palelei -v- Eddie Sanchez - BORING

Rich Clementi -v- Melvin Guillard - Melvin was a total punk leading up to the fight and got what he deserved. Rich's taunting after whipping Melvin's ass was hilarious. The crowd was 100% behind Rich. Melvin is a putz.

Lyoto Machida -v- Rameau Sokoudjou - Machida is a badass! Keep an eye on him!!

Chuck Liddell -v- Wanderlei Silva - Wow. That was a solid fight between two old fighters. I was pulling for Silva; he just couldn't get it done. Props to Liddell.

Matt Hughes -v- Georges St-Pierre - GSP! GSP! GSP! About what I expected: he whipped Hughes' ass, then showed class.

News & notes: Shared flight to LV w/ LJ. His woman was pissed because she was in another boarding group & got pulled aside when she tried to walk on w/ LJ (he was the first to board). The funny part was watching LJ walk down the ramp unaffected while she threw a hissy. :D

Bellagio room service is excellent (as usual) :thumb:

O is incredible.

Vegas on New Years is insane. They close down traffic the strip. The ENTIRE strip! No cars at all. It's 300k+ people packed into the streets. They close the casinos to pedestrian traffic beginning at 5PM and don't open it back up until after midnight. You can only get into your hotel if you have your room key (card) with you and you go to the designated entrance. Keep these things in mind if you plan to go to LV for New Years. I loved the locals' reaction to the insanity: (paraphrased) "Stay off the strip! As soon as my shift is over I'm getting the hell out of here(off the strip)"

Tip the bartenders well and they'll hook you up with the good booze (free drinks as long as you're gambling). I got single-malt 12yr Scotch doubles... $5 tip per glass ;)

Great Fights. It was really cool watching Rich Clementi take out Melvin Guillard. Guillard was a real punk ass.

Where you been BD? We missed discussing these fights with you the other day. I forgot about this thread and started a new one on the day of the fights. GSP left little doubt that he is the man at middle weight and one of the best pound for pound in all of MMA. It was nice to see Liddell show up in shape and ready to take a fight serious, he looked good.

I think Rampage is in is head though the same way he is in Tito's.(Liddell) This will be a very interesting division to watch moving forward. Does Wandy have a chin or what?

GSP just continues to get better. That's a scary man. I think he just ended Matt Hughes career although I could still see him coming back for a fight or two down the road.

I came back from Oregon and don't have a puter in my house so I haven't been around.

The Rampage thing is probably true but if Chuck could show up in that good of shape (he actually had ABS) and that focused against Rampage THAT would be a heck of a fight! Wandy took all those shots and kept on comin' man, that was impressive for sure. The thing with Hughes is that he could still beat almost any middleweight at any given time at this point so if he could avoid a GSP rematch he could still win several more fights. He knows he is no longer top dog.

Hughes has a huge ego too. I see him potentially fighting Serra at some point. I don't know though I think we have about seen the end of MH.
