Looking back to the 2006 NFL Draft, where the Texans picked Mario Williams over Reggie Bush and Vince Young, where everybody in Houston was pissed, along with some Commentors ripping the Texans for this move.

2 years later, did the Texans made the right move?

I was on record as saying they should have taken Tha Brick, and I would have picked Leinart ahead of Young. I was bigger on LenDale White than Bush and was nonplussed about Mario Williams.

Not my best effort.

Matt Schuab wasn't doing to hot and Ron Dayne can't last much longer. Maybe they would be doing better with those two.

Well, he did say that Houston was stupid to pick DeMeco Ryans. Yeah, real stupid to pick the winner of the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.

You should go check out some of my other posts in that thread........

Who wanted Ko Simpson instead of Pollard...you hit some you miss some...

But hey taking a special teams player in the 2nd round was a great idea.

We can also discuss how some people still think Hali is better than Cromartie which is a joke and a half.

Well they moved him inside.....he was a OLB in college.

Again, disagree. If Simpson was so good, why did he manage to drop all the way to the 4th round?

Ko Simpson 2007 NFL statistics: 1 game, 1 tackle, in IR.
Bernard Pollard 2007 NFL statistics: 14 games, 13 started. 73 tackles, 63 solo, 10 assists. 1 sack, with 1 safety. 5 passes defended with 1 interception, and still playing.

Can't contribute to a team if you're being IR'ed.

Pull up his 2006 stats......he was far better.....

Pollard is a glorified special teams player....he dropped to the 4th round because sometimes NFL teams are stupid and think some red flag is a reason not to pick someone.

Ko Simpson was an a raw player that was a 3 year sophomore, he didn't have a ton of game experience but anyone that saw him knew he was a playmaker.

Here was a quote from Tom Modrak of the Bills at the time.... "We don't know why Ko Simpson was there, we guess they lost his name or something, but to say we were shocked was an understatement"

Well, he was far better in 2006, since he got actual playing time, while Pollard was only in ST duty. Even that, Pollard contributed big time on special teams that year as well.

Perhaps one reason why the red flag is that Simpson is 2 years older than Pollard.

Either way, we can argue this all day and night long, but we'll just have to agree to disagree then.

That being said, did the Texans made the right choice in Mario Williams over Vince Young and Reggie Bush?

You will never ever convince me that Pollard is even remotely in Simpsons league. I've seen them both, I know what they are...Simpson makes big plays, and actually does it in the pass game and isn't slow.

Probably.....DE prospects like Williams are 1 in a million. I also remember the people who thought Hali was in his class or a similar prospect which was funny.

Cromartie wouldn't make a very good cover 2 corner. Hali definitely fits this defense better.

I didn't think Hali was in his class, but at least a very solid class. He did manage to beat out Eric Hicks, which was a welcome change. Remember how bad Eric Hicks really sucked?

With the way you kill Allen, you must think so.

I'm not remotely that bad, I just think people get a little ridiculous about it like saying he's the defensive player of the year, he's good but he's not THAT good. He should make the pro bowl this year.

And anyway Cromartie could play cover 2 and play it great, he's a large athletic corner that makes plays...I'm pretty sure he could play zone and play it well.

Allen had player of the year credentials up until the last few games. Who are you giving it to in the AFC?

I'll have to give it to ya on that one, because Cromatie just set a Charger team record in the INT department

I'd say if I was voting for this award.......I'd probably vote for Albert Haynesworth.

I think Cromartie and Mario Williams round out the top 3 from what I've seen this year.

Haynesworth's been great, but he doesn't have the stats.

Mario Williams has definitely not been better than Jared.

I don't think it's all about stats, Haynesworth is a DT so he won't have pretty stats.

Hell if it's purely stats then Cromartie should win.

Williams does lead this conference in sacks...
