Nice strong finish by Jackson. Kaun would have missed that horribly.

Me neither. This is a horrible coaching move (why anyone would start Kaun anyway I have not a clue) by Self considering Gtech's athleticism.

Kaun sucks and is getting dominated on the boards. Kaun can't box out worth a shit.

He should have had a jam, but nope he has ****ing hands of stone and can't ever take in an entry pass down low. Instead he bobbles it and he gets fouled instead, losing the momentum this team could have gained off of a dunk like that. He has literally no post presence at all. Sometimes I really wonder if he even knows what the **** he's doing out there.

I think its about the same. However, some fans would disagree. I don't know. KSU is not my second favorite team by any means. I like to see them do well when it doesn't hurt KU, but that does not mean I really set out to catch their games.

I can't stand MU, too. But I think that is because of a few of their fans that are obnoxious. KSU has those type of fans, as well. It's just that they have not had much to say in the past few years as KU has won 3 of 4 in football and in hoops, well, we all know how that has been.

Looking at that video, I thought it was pretty good acting the first time. But it is possible that a different angle might tell a different story. Either way, the GT player shouldn't be swinging his elbows like that. He was just asking for a call. Russ was probably mostly acting. But it is possible that the elbow hit him in just the right spot. Obviously, it wasn't falling on the floor writhing in pain foul.

Actually, I think that's right. Looks like they called the elbow that hit Darnell Jackson. That one looked a lot more vicious. And the funny thing is that Darnell didn't even flinch while Russ Rob probably just got nominated for an Oscar. ROFL

this game is a good example of the fact that Bill Self is mediocre at best when it comes to court coaching.

we have virtually no set offensive plays

we still shoot like crap from the stripe even though we have the talent to do much better.

Kaun has played pretty solidly all season. Apparentally I'm not watching the same Kaun as CoMo is because the Sasha I'm watching is doing a great job. Hopefully he'll be able to keep it up all season because we'll need him to play like this later on in the year as the competition gets tougher. Does he miss some point blank shots under the basket? Sure he does, but so does everyone else on our team.

most of his weakness are because he only played B-Ball for 2 years before coming to KU.

Agree to an extent. Yeah Self did force our guys to slow it down a little bit, hoping that they would play smart in the final few minutes. I don't entirely blame him because if our guys had finished on some plays it wouldn't have been as much of an issue.

I think a lot of it was execution honestly. He drew up one play in the few remaining minutes which got Sherron a free throw line jumper. He just didn't convert. Other set plays got our guys good looks but they just couldn't finish.

I will agree though that the guys gotta look inside especially when the refs are calling ticky-tac fouls all night long. Although, I think that could have took the rythmn out of the big men a little bit when they are forced to go to the bench due to foul trouble.

The free throw shooting is disconcerting though...Chalmers and RR gotta make those free throws in the clutch

We shot pretty well from the line majority of the night. Towards the end of the game, when it mattered the most we kinda pissed down our leg.

I'll take ANY win when Russell Robinson is our leading scorer and the game's on the road.

I always thought that was Roy's fault but North Carolina's starting 5 are averaging 75% from the line. Apparently Roy found the answer but Self hasn't. I would think practice would at least help.

Ceej
12-19-2007, 01:17 PM
I think one point we were at 15/20 - which is 75%, a bit better than our FT shooting as a team.

I don't think they practice it AT ALL as a team. Effing NCAA rules regarding allowable amount of practice time has dictated the trimming of "ancillary" aspects of the game, e.g. free throws. It's up to the players to practice that stuff on their own; outside the scope of "team practice". Problem is it appears the guys aren't doing that... haven't been doing that.

If I were coach and my team was flailing at the stripe, we'd dedicate an entire practice to it. EVERYONE hits ten in a row before practice ends. For every miss the entire team runs sprints; then the shooter starts over.

Chalmers and RR have shown a crazy leaping ability which they've not shown in the past couple of years.

That put back was disgusting. I'm just curious why Sherron hasn't tried to throw something down, I recall he tried once and missed it? But, we all know the guy has ups. Maybe, he's just hesitant, if he misses a dunk Self may pull him.
