I'm not that dense. I meant what specifically? Pinnacle, Hauppage, ATI, Slingbox?

i think the brand name is tevion. i think its just called a dvr.

i don't think i'm dedicated enough to replace gochiefs... yet. i'll need more hard drive space first.

any advice on editing techniques is welcome.

I use videoReDo for stripping commercials, Beyond TV for my tv scheduler.. my tv card does everything a TIVO does...I use portable hard drives and have a DVD player with a usb port on it so I record, take hard drive to the tv and watch anything I record. Pretty slick.

How do you plug your Hard Drive into your TV?

Not that lucky yet, I bet!

Every time he states something, Nick ****s it up. Maybe it is the facts and he sucks.

Thru the USB port on the DVD player?
Ah, read it too fast and thought the DVD part was attached to the PC as well.

What'd you buy?

i didn't buy it, it was given to me as a gift. it connects to an a/v cable and hooks into my PC via USB. came with software to record straight to my hard drive. wish there were more highlights to post.

It's a pioneer 400v dvd player with usb port....99 bucks from newegg.com....I bought one and liked it so much, picked up another for my bedroom...Somebody sneaked illegal downloaded movies on my computer and I put one on a san disk usb card reader... it works fine to play a movie there also.

You don't need to buy any software to do that, just buy a TV Tuner card and use Windows Media Center.

Windows Media Center blows all all other apps away as far as a DVR.
