According to the ESPN ticker, Larry Johnson is done for the season with a broken foot.

Once again, Carl Peterson and Herman Edwards treated the Chiefs' fans like idiots that can handle the truth. Remember when they couldn't even tell us if Larry Johnson's foot was broken. They have to hide their secrets like immature losers.
They don't deserve our respect especially since they don't give the fans RESPECT. Lastly so much for Johnson's word, he said that he would play again this season.

By DOUG TUCKER, AP Sports Writer
December 24, 2007

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The broken foot Larry Johnson sustained on Nov. 4 turned out to be season-ending after all.

Kansas City coach Herm Edwards confirmed Monday that Johnson would not play in the season finale at the New York Jets, meaning the two-time Pro Bowl running back has lost the better part of an entire season in the prime of Week after week, the Chiefs refused to disclose the nature of the injury and were hoping, they said, that Johnson would get back on the field.

It wasn't until several weeks after he got hurt that Johnson revealed on a teammate's radio show he'd broken a bone in his right foot.

After doing individual work for more than a month, he tried to return to practice last week, but apparently suffered a setback.

"Larry's gotten a lot better, but it's not to the point where we feel he can play," Edwards said. "It's not good for him not at 100 percent trying to play football. It's to the point now where you have to protect the player."

Edwards also said quarterback Brodie Croyle would be questionable for the season finale. The second-year pro, who has made five mostly disappointing starts, bruised his hand while trying to stop a Detroit defender from returning an interception for a touchdown on Sunday. He will be replaced by Damon Huard if Croyle can't play.

Johnson hurt the foot late in the fourth quarter of a 33-22 loss to Green Bay. The Chiefs (4-11) then lost their next seven and will take an eight-game losing streak into their game against the Jets, ending what is certain to be their worst season since Carl Peterson arrived as president and general manager in 1989.

Edwards agreed that, in retrospect, it would have been better to put Johnson on injured reserve and give his roster spot to someone else.

"But when he got hurt, you're always looking at if you win some games, then all of a sudden you could be in position to make a playoff run, or you get in the playoffs, you want your best players available," Edwards said. "It didn't hurt us."

For the season, Johnson had 158 carries for 559 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught 30 passes for 186 yards. He carried an NFL-record 416 times in 2006 while rushing for 17 touchdowns and a team-record 1,750 yards. But he may have been rusty after missing almost all of training camp and having only a handful of carries this preseason.

Even though the Chiefs eased him into action, he never seemed to get right. He was slowed by a hamstring pull for a while, then had two good games, but got hurt again and never came back.

"It's always hard when players miss time and when they're not around and miss training camp," Edwards said. "But you never feel that a guy can't survive that. The difference between Larry and (defensive end) Jared Allen is Jared missed two games and still had a great year. But Jared Allen was around. He was in training camp. He was there. He was working. You need to work. You really do. You need to be around your teammates."

Johnson will be 29 before next season is over. Will the Chiefs ever see him run with the speed and power they saw in 2005 and 2006?

"The good thing about it is now he'll have the whole offseason to get it healthy," Edwards said. "He wants to be a good player. He'll come back. He'll be ready to go next year. He'll be fresh. He's only going to be 29 next year. He didn't carry the ball a lot. He didn't carry it 416 times."

Hiding the truth from the media and more importantly the fans ... this whole senario is further evidence that Carl/Herm are not capable of running an NFL team.

We all knew LJ wouldn't play this year, but Carl just can't bring himself to be upfront. In fact, he's been VERY QUIET lately. Looks like the old lying, do-nothing GM is not standing up and accepting the blame. Remember the BUCK stops with him? Sure, Carly.

i've started just refering to the two of them as "herl." saves a few keystrokes when you're just trying to call for their head.

Carl has ZERO respect for the fans ....... he tells them what is convenient and conducive to his desired outcome.

Rufus dawes still be employed should be proof plenty of that.

Well, throw Dick Curl in the mix, and maybe you can call the trio = Hurl

I will just sit back and wait once the season ends. It will be decided whether or not Clark Hunt has any testicles.

Total housecleaning is in order. or damn close to it. Maybe keep a position coach or two, but that is it.

I could deal with Carl being moved away from any football related decisions, but that would probably not work either. It just seems like hoping that Carl will be fired at the conclusion of this season...is futile.

I guess they must have came to the conclusion out at Arrowhead that the Chiefs had no advantage with tiebreakers, and were going to miss the playoffs.

It's deceit because if Herm and Carl don't reveal LJ's condition, it gives the upcoming opponent one more thing to factor in when they prepare to play the Chiefs. And considering how much defenses key in on LJ, they'd basically have to create two entire defensive plans -- one for the LJ Chiefs and one for the LJ-less Chiefs.

It's a strategic move designed to gain an edge in game prep.

At least we know for sure that Huard will lead us to certain humiliation and the coveted draft pick.

FWIW I remember it being reported that it was LJ that requested that the full extant of the injury not be disclosed. Not that it matters but it is possible that Herm and Carl was trying respect his wishes. It was LJ who said he would play again this year, not the Chiefs personnel. LJ is ego driven and IMO is just as much to blame for being evasive.

Get a clue. As Chiefs fans, we originally learned Johnson's foot was broken when an opposing teams' coach leaked that it was broken, shortly after the game he was hurt. I'm not sure a Chief's official has ever made a full disclosure about the injury.

THe bottom line is that Carl continues to play his paying customers (real fans) for fools in hopes they will pay him more $$$$$. Looks like he's got one in you.

Laz, on Kcchiefs.com. Everytime I read an article from one of those columnists, at the bottom of the page it would always say:

"The opinions offered in this column do not necessarily reflect those of the Kansas City Chiefs"

Wheter Larry was going to play or not didn't factor into how the opponents prepared. Run, run, short lateral pass, punt. Hell every broadcaster had it figured out and three fourths of them are lame brains.
They even gave suggestions on how to try some things a little different. Maybe Herm should have been listening to them on his headphones instead of music or whatever he had playing.
