Okay, so Herm has professed his undying love for Brodie. Smokescreen? Maybe. But probably not. So what is it about a 3rd round draft pick that bears more resemblance to Fran Tarkenton than Tom Brady? I just don't get it. Yeah, the Chiefs list him at 6'2" and 206 lbs. Do you believe that? The consensus from the media (& others that have met Croyle) is that he's surprisingly slight and probably not close to 200 lbs soaking wet. In fact, I've heard some of the media folks guess Croyle's weight as low as 175 -180 lbs. Croyle might have thrived in the NFL 15 or twenty years ago but he's obviously too small and fragile for today's NFL. "Bigger, faster, stronger" is a phrase most knowledgeable NFL fans are familiar with for good reason. Okay, he's got a strong arm. But what good does that do you on the bench or the IR? Here's a look at every Super Bowl QB (winners & losers) from this decade:
K. Warner 6’2” - 222
T. Brady 6'4" - 225
P. Manning 6'/5" - 230
R. Grossman 6'1" 217
B. Roethlisberger 6'5" - 241
M. Hasselbeck 6'4" - 225
D. Mcnabb 6'2" - 240
J. Delhomme 6'2" - 215
B. Johnson 6'5" - 238
R. Gannon 6'3" - 210
T. Dilfer 6'4" - 247
K. Collins 6'5" - 245
S. Mcnair 6'2" - 230
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Croyle leading this team to any sort of playoff success. He'll be a footnote along the likes of Steve Matthews, Pat Barnes, and Todd Blackledge.
