NO! Chris(Howies boy) I know we need an OT but another kick butt
DE would make our D pretty scary. Honestly we should take the best player but I wanna piss Al off just for fun..

Hali can't play inside, he's 275 lbs, bit undersized for inside.

He's probably better thanl Hali but what's wrong with having three really good DEs? He very well might be the best player on the board when we pick and if he is then we should pick him. He can play inside as well as out.

yeah but you're talking about spending a top 5 pick on a backup. I'd say we've got plenty of other areas to address.

Of course if he's clear and away the best player on the board when we come up then I'm all for getting the best player, but if there's any doubt at all then DE probably is one of the last positions I'd be looking at for first round pick.

Just want to throw in one note here. Let's say all the "top" teams lose, and all the percentages stay the same (which I know the won't) for the purpose of this point.

OK, say we draft 4th, Oakland 5th, Baltimore 6th, and Jets 7th...

In the 2nd round, Oakland would draft 4th, Baltimore 5th, Jets 6th, and KC 7th.

In the 3rd round Baltimore would draft 4th, Jets 5th, KC 6th, Oakland 7th

etc....

I hope this is the way it winds up, just wanted you all to be aware that the following rounds we would not be locked in in position number 4.

Merry Christmas all!

If they win and we lose we could/should. Depends on the winning percentage. Right now we would have the edge on them.

I swear, LJ has no trade value and the Chiefs can't trade him due to his contract.....

How hard is it for people to get this? Even of LJ made no money no one would give you a 1st rounder for him.

Contract issues aside, I'm not sure we could even get a deal similar to what Buffalo got for McGahee.

R3 x2

or

R4 x2

or similar.

Yes. If everything fell right, like it did to get into the playoffs last year, we could even end up at #2. Highly unlikely that STL and ATL would BOTH win, AND our SOS stay lower than theirs.

SOS is a fluid thing. It will literally change throughout the weekend as games are played. There is no way to determine the final number until all games are played involving teams on your schedule.

We not only want teams like STL and ATL to lose, we want as many teams on their schedule to win as possible, and as many teams on our schedule to lose as possible.

why? is that because if all our teams lost then our wins are worth even less?

Not if a majority of the teams those three have played over the year lose this weekend, lowering the SOS.

As an example, Atlanta's SOS shot up over .02 a couple of weeks ago, because something like 11 of the 16 teams on their schedule won that week.

Well, if we knew we weren't keeping Jared, I'd be OK with this. JA will be here, though. Can Hali play inside?

Were not going to draft another DE. And they're not going to move any of our DE to DT (with the exception if Jimmy Wilkerson)

Or just move JA to OLB in DT old role and just let him go after the QB nonstop...

Thank God some of you aren't pushing the buttons on Draft Day.

Spend a #5 overall pick on a BACKUP Defensive End? Brilliant!!!

Wrong Long.
Jake please and thank you...

10 year starter...from Day 1.

No offense or anything but 3rd DE's are as important and play every bit as much as the starters do, it's called rotation and keeping guys fresh. Notice how New England constantly has different packages and rotations of players.

our drafting range is 2nd to 8th

1 Miami 1-14 .533
2 St. Louis 3-12 .513
3 New York Jets 3-12 .525
4 Atlanta 3-12 .529
5 Kansas City 4-11 .508
6 Oakland 4-11 .513
7 Baltimore 4-11 .517
8 New England (frm San Fran) 5-10 .467

games
St. Louis at Arizona
KC at Jets
Seattle at Atlanta
san diego at oakland
Pittsburgh at Baltimore
San Francisco at Cleveland

if st. louis, atlanta win and we lose then we pick 2nd

we can also slide down to 8th if we win and the teams behind us lose.

This is true...but we have holes in other places that need to be placed first. I would love to have Chris Long playing DE for us.....but there is no point to have 3 DE's with the fat contracts that will come with them. I could honestly see us drafting him though...just so Carl can try and screw Allen.

Drafting to fill holes isn't the thing to do and especially in the top 5. That's how teams end up reaching. We need to take the best player no matter what the position. If we let the best player go buy then we just let someone else have that best player. The teams with the best players win the most games. Yeah we have needs at positions but you can fill those in any round of the draft and before the draft is over we'll have a chance to adress those needs at some point with the best player at the point. Clear as mudd! Right?!

What?? You think Hali would be a better passrushing LB then JA in that role??? I would just let JA line up on either side as a LB if we picked up Long to play as a DE..

You think now it might not be a need.. But have him take over JA's spot and move JA to the falcon, he has shown the knack that he can play different roles..

I would love to see JA lined up behind Long or Hali, whatever side is going to have a tough time blocking either two on the same side..

Holmgren is not going to risk players to injury in order to win this game, but I know he wants to win it pretty bad. He's said as much in the local media.

St. Louis can't seem to find a way to win a game. Arizona is falling apart, but aren't they playing in AZ? I expect Warner to have a good game, it could be his swan song, and it's against his old team.

I'd be happy to pick 4th. I'm afraid we're going to win this stupid ass, meaningless game and end up picking like 7th or 8th. Anything under 4th is just gravy.
