Kidd to Lakers for Brown, Farmar, Radmanovic?
Sunday, Dec 23, 2007 2:00 pm EST

Quoting an NBA source, Peter Vecsey of the New York Post reports the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to acquire Jason Kidd from the New Jersey Nets.

According to the report, the Lakers will send a couple draft picks, Kwame Brown's expiring contract ($9M), Jordan Farmar ($1M) and Vladimir Radmanovic ($5.6M with an additional $19.2M over the next three seasons) to New Jersey.

Not unexpectedly, the Nets aren't interested in assuming Radmanovic's long-term guarantee. There's nothing not to love about Farmar, yet New Jersey already has a promising, young guard in Marcus Williams.

Kobe has wanted Kidd. THis may be their way of making the Lakers a contender now and getting Kobe to sign a long deal. Frankly if they get all that done I would be really happy.

That'd be a great acquisition for Los Angeles.
That won't get them over the hump, but it's improvement.

Will Kidd be using a cane to take the ball up the floor? What is he, 65?

Lakers are pretty damned close as it is. I think they can compete with any team in the NBA. They have already bitch slapped the Suns 2 times this year. The only teams that i think they would have problems with are the Celtics/Spurs and Pistons.

Might be a smart move to get you guys past Phoenix.

I'd really rather keep Radman.

If they don't want him, he does a good job of spreading the floor for us and can do well to keep defenses honest.

Offer them Walton instead if the salaries are needed to balance out the deal. With Kidd gone they'll need a new white dude that can distribute and shoot in streaks....Luke Walton c'mon down!

Lakers win the title with Kidd. Suddenly Odom becomes the #3 option he needs to be (possibly 4 if Bynum clicks with Kidd, though Bynum's ISO game needs serious work). The lakers would be very athletic, very big and very defensively sound with a lineup of Bynum, Odom, Ariza, Kidd and Bryant. A 2nd crew of Mihm, Turiaf, Vlad, Sasha and Fisher is pretty solid as well.

I'd hate to give up Farmar, but you have to give to get. Getting Kidd without giving up a starter is kindof a no brainer for this club.

Until the playoffs roll around.

That will change this year. There was a lot of injuries last season and Bynum gets significantly better every year.

Bynum is getting better with every game this year. He's starting to play tons of minutes. Before he would be out there 10 min and we be dog tired. I think they said he played 42 min or something yesterday? He's going to be a monster. What i like about the Lakers is that they can run, but they arent small like the Suns. That right there is scary. A team that can keep up the tempo like that with the size the Lakers have is great.

Spurs will dominate the playoffs in the West once again!

Hopefully....

The Lakers are in a bizarre spot..they aren't good enough to win a championship right now...if they go with the approach we'll we're young..

I think Portland's upside is higher than theirs.

That trade doesn't help the Lakers enough. It isn't going to push them over the Spurs, Suns, or Mavs, and it makes them significantly older.

The one thing it will do is make it easier for them to get an A-list free agent after Kidd hangs 'em up and his salary drops off the books.

If by a couple draft picks, it means a couple first rounders, I think this is too much for Kidd. Farmar is going to be very good and Radmanovic is a nice shooter too. I know Kidd is good, but he is a 34 year old point guard...

No, he'll be smacking his wife across the grill with it. :Poke:

Only 1 reason to make this trade and that would be if it makes Kobe happy and keeps him in LA. Kidd has lots of hustle in him but won't bring the Lakers a championship.

I dont think Farmar is going to be that great.

One rumor had Luke Walton and Andrew Bynum (along w/ Brown and Farmar and a pick)

As long as they don't trade Walton or Bynum, I say do it.

If the Lakers do this they are still FAR far away from contending. They won't even win a series this year anyway.

BS...Lakers will definitely be a top 4 seed this year.

I really don't think that anyone in the West will beat them this year, except maybe the Spurs.
