Can't go wrong with Mario 64, or Zelda.

Cooking Mama's pretty fun too. Yeah, I said it... go on and laugh. It's fun.

Animal Crossing
Geometry Wars : Galaxies

edit: check out "Dementium: The Ward" if you want a game to play in the dark

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

If you like the Castlevania Symphony of the Night-esque "Metroidvania"s, these are for you. I prefer Dawn of Sorrow, as Portrait of Ruin has a two character gimmick that I think slows the game down whenever it is needed.

Tetris DS
Picross
Planet Puzzle League
Puzzle Quest
Brain Age
New York Times Crossword Puzzle

As you've guessed, all puzzle games, and all great. If I had to go with one, I'd recommend Puzzle Quest, which is a cross between Bejeweled and an RPG. You'll easily get 20-30+ hours out of the game.

New Super Mario Brothers
Metroid Prime Hunters
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

The holy trinity of Nintendo first party DS games. My favorite is NSMB, which is a great continuation of the 2d Mario games, very similar to Super Mario World.

A lot of people love Zelda, but I have the same problem with it as I did it's spiritual successor, Wind Waker: too much sailing, which kills my soul. Metroid is also very good, but the control scheme tends to kill my hands.

Other shit I enjoy:

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney
Phoenix Wright Justice for All
Elite Beat Agents
Trauma Center
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Contra 4
Mario Kart DS
Meteos
Yoshi's Island DS
True Swing Golf
