My guess is that Xerxes isn't a homo in that one.

Seriously, I like that story, and I would like to see that program - I think I 'm going to rent it from Netflix; thanks for mentioning that.

Saw it earlier this year when the 300 movie came out. Good stuff.

The History Channel program was way better than the movie.

looks like the Greeks got very lucky when the Persian ships went down in the storm so they couldn't circle around.

Anyone interested in this should also read Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield. A fictional account based on factual events about the Spartans and the battle. Magnificent book.

Yeah, the movie really disappointed by completely ignoring the naval aspect of the whole battle.

I hated that movie. It was like watching a video game. History Channel was much better.

BTW, is it now a video game?

Wow. You guys didn't like 300 ?! I thought it was the best movie of the year. The fight scenes were top notch, there were plenty of them, and the acting by the main characters was great. I guess if you're a history buff you might have thought it over the top...?

I guess if you're a history buff you might have thought it over the top...?Only the people who went into it expecting a historical epic. It was based on a graphic novel (i.e. fancy comic book), for Christ's sake.

In my mind, it was the story as it was probably told over the centuries... including all the exaggeration, myth and legend.

Or you could just bust out some Plutarch or any other ancient book..

The movie was good on its own, anybody who even related it to actual history is drinking something.. Have to learn to seperate books from movies or you are just going to continually disappoint yourself..

His name was Khashayar. Xerxes is the name Greeks called him.
