Not looking for real hardwood veneer, but the stuff used everywhere nowadays to cover MDF to make pre-fab bookshelves and furniture. Any ideas?

Home Depot and Lowes stock some, and can probably order other for you.
You can also look online, but shipping can be an issue.
I assume you want laminate sheets, not that crappy printed paper stuff.

The only laminate the Home Depot has is the countertop type, no woodgrain, and it's in a 6x6 sheet.
I have a bunch of 'natural maple' veneered MDF shelves [20 shelves, 12x36] and would like to make CD/DVD storage out of it. I could go with a white pine hardwood frame and hope I can stain/finish to match, but an MDF frame seems more const effective and flexible.
I wouldn't want plain printed paper, but a thicker coated paper type of covering would be acceptible.
