Collusion? Titans, Colts had ‘communication’
QB says Indy coaches told Tennessee they wouldn't call TO to force punt

Did Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans coaches have an under-the-table agreement at the end of last Sunday's game?

Tennessee quarterback Kerry Collins said on WFAN Radio on Thursday that the Titans kneeled at the end of the game Sunday because they knew the Colts wouldn't call a timeout.

With Tennessee leading 16-10 and needing a victory to make the playoffs, the Titans had originally called a running play, Collins said. But the team changed to a kneeldown when he was told over his headset that the Colts wouldn't call a timeout, which would have possibly forced the Titans to punt with less than 20 seconds left in the game, Collins said.

"Apparently there was some communication between Jeff (Fisher) and Tony (Dungy)," Collins said on WFAN.

Fisher said he knew Dungy wouldn't use the timeout because he's so familiar with the Colts coach's thinking, the Knoxville (Tenn.) News-Sentinel reported Thursday.

"Let me just say, I knew he wasn't going to use it. Tony and I were on the competition committee for a long time," Fisher said, the newspaper reported.

The Titans coach also said the Colts would have gotten the ball back with 25 seconds left but down nine because Tennessee would have kicked another field goal, the newspaper reported.

"It didn't make any sense. They gave it their best shot," Fisher said, the News-Sentinel reported.

Dungy congratulated the Titans.

"I have to congratulate the Titans and I think it is a feather in the cap of our division to get three teams in the playoffs,” Dungy said, Colts.com reported. “They (the Titans) certainly deserve it.”

If true, the Cleveland Browns could possibly file a grievance alleging collusion, which is against NFL rules. The Browns would have made the playoffs if the Titans had lost.

Sounds like much ado about nothing....unless you are a Browns fan of course.

If Dungy told Fisher he wasn't going to call the TO, that's collusion. Pure and simple.

Both those teams should be fined, kicked out of playoff contention, and have super sweepers rammed up their asses.

When would have done that, Mr. FAX?

Did he scream it across the field in full earshot of officials, players and everyone else?

"HEY JEFF! I"M NOT GONNA TAKE THE TIMEOUT!"

I don't have an opinion on this yet but it does seem kind of shady.

Sure, sure. Make your excuses. What's next? Sharing locker rooms? Exchanging gifts at the 50 yard line? This is an outrage.

Both these clowns need to be dunked in steaming hot giant toad excrement.

In basketball all the time you'll see a coach say 'no more fouls' in full view of everyone, when technically he might still have a chance. Just as a matter of sportsmanship and all. I don't see why this is a huge deal.

Yeah. You and Mr. OnTheWarpath58 are probably right, Mr. Cochise.

But, can we at least dunk Tony Dungy in some giant toad excrement?

In the past year, Goodell has let more serious cases of collusion slide, so I don't expect anything to happen here.

Mountain out of a molehill.

Actually, if you bet on the games, it was huge. The Titans were well within field goal range.
The early line was 6 1/2, same in the Casino Planet. I had Indy getting the 6 1/2, it should have gone to 9 with a field goal.
It didn't matter in my real bet, it had gone down to 4 1/2.
