Obama and Paul poll workers kicked out of some precincts

http://www.boston.com/news/local/politics/primarysource/

Link Posted by James Pindell January 8, 2008 03:23 PM
Campaign volunteers for the Barack Obama and Ron Paul have been kicked out of precincts from Concord to Swanzey for not having the proper credentials, several unrelated sources have witnessed.

In general elections it is standard practice to have poll workers sitting behind the registration table and scratching off names as people sign in. Periodically they take those lists and the campaign gets in contact with those who have voted yet.

But, that is for general elections and everyone who does this a) has to live reasonably nearby (read: state residents) and b.) have letters from the state party to be an "observer".

Apparently many of these Obama and Paul observers did not have this letter. These same sources say that it is the Clinton campaign that has called foul

New Hampshire Senate President Sylvia Larsen, a Concord Democrat who supports Hillary Clinton, said she saw the Obama observers.

"I knew who they were and what they were doing," Larsen said.

Neither the Clinton nor Obama campaigns would comment.

How is it relevant what time of day somebody voted? I assumed they count them all after the polls close. It would make sense that larger precincts would take more time to count the votes, though. And those might tend to be more urban and have more young people.

No matter what happens, there is one thing you really have to respect about McCain. He is not afraid to stand up for something he believes in thats horribly unpopular even if it means possibly losing an election.

He basically stood alone defending Bush's troop surge strategy when no one in either party wanted anything to do with it, the GOP was screaming at Bush to withdraw before the next election, and McCain stands firm. Then you throw in his stance on immigration, very unpopular, I thought he committed political suicide and was finished a while ago. He just wont move from his beliefs to win an election, and now that Iraq is beginning to quiet down and a shakey sort of relative peace is coming about, McCain is getting the benefit for being for it all along.

Clinton (the dude) didn't win either. I guess I think you are overreacting, but there seems to be a lot of that going around, even with professional political pundits and pollsters. New Hampshire is all old people. It's why I was surprised about the poll numbers coming out the last few days. The whole state is pretty much contrarian. They're rarely relevant, so when they get a chance like this to make a splash, they'll take the opportunity.

Where's the logic behind that? We'll vote for someone just because they are different and people don't expect us to? WTF, then? Why not vote for Gravel?

Once again, Chiefsplanet proves not to be a good representation of the electorate...

Why? As a conservative, I love this. Obama is the better candidate in the general. I would love for them to run Hillary out there. Republican voters will be on her like a Siberian tiger at the San Fransisco zoo

Yeah... I guess I'd rather have Hillary. But it's a poison pill either way, Hillary is less liberal, but more corrupt. I don't really know which is worse.

Hopefully they get it wrong this time

Only twice since New Hampshire voters have chosen a presidential nominee have they failed to pick a winner. The first time was in 1992, when Democrats chose former U.S. Sen. Paul Tsongas, D-Mass., over Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton. Just eight years later, state Republicans chose U.S. Sen. John McCain over President George W. Bush.

Nights like this are why the acronym WTF was invented.

Because....

despite her "success" tonight, she is toast. Even if she were to eek out the nomination over Obama (which I doubt,) she could be McGovernized in the general election....IF the 'pubs come up with a candidate soon.

Unless the electorate is reminded of what a disaster the Repubs have been these past two terms. They might just think back on what the Republicans have done and start demanding CHANGE!! CHANGE!! CHANGE!! Oh wait.... they are saying that already... and its still the primaries...

There are more registered Republicans than Dems in NH, but 50,000 more folks voted Dem in spite of them being a relative minority...

The average person walking down the street is pretty stupid.

I didn't want to believe they were that stupid, but I guess it's time to say **** all the stats and bump Mississippi and Tennessee up a notch to make room for New Hampshire at the bottom of the "dumbest states" list.
