ZUNE or IPOD?

I need to upgrade my FM headphones and want something I can take to the gym.
It seems the IPOD Nano and ZUNE base model both fit the bill. Does anyone have an opinion/experience?

*Nano has a flash drive which would seem a good thing when running,etc. Can't tell if ZUNE has flash or not.

*IPOD has ITUNES all set up to download music. Does MS have something comparable so it is as easy to buy tunes for the ZUNE?

The Small Zunes < 30gb are Flash based..

Yes MS has the ZUNE software and you can buy tunes through them.. they even have a $15/Month Unlimited DL feature.

the only thing iPod has over Zune is that their marketplace kicks Zune's ass.

I will take the Zune everytime.

The Nano is much smaller than the smallest Zune. For me, that's a HUGE deal at the gym. I would go Nano for the gym, and Zune for anything else.

I'm completely satisfied with my iPod. I'm sure the Zune is fine and, from what I hear, it's substantially cheaper, but I think you'd be happy with an iPod if you decide to go that direction.

Thanks all for the detailed feedback. Sounds like both are decent products, it might come down to deciding whether to go with the evil empire or the hippie box.
