I am sure if any has listened to any radio today, they have mentioned that 20 years ago MTV first showed up on TV's.

Was this a good thing or bad?

What are some of your favorite videos?

What are some of you least favorite videos?

Any additional comments are welcome also.....

:D

I used to watch often - back when it was Music Television. Now that it is Stupid TV Shows for Teenagers and College Students, I don't have time for it. I do enjoy their spring break segments, though.

I quit watching MTV back in the '80s. Seemed to me that alot of bad songs became popular do to the accompaning videos. I got to where I couldn't stand watching the videos, they all seemed so stupid. Always did like that Cherry Pie video though.

They can do all they want during the week, so long as I get my Jacka$$ fix on Sunday nights. Also, their awards shows are the only ones I 'can't' miss. Don't watch much of the other programming [Daria, Claymation wrestling stuff, etc.]

I think they should be forced to change their name to the RealWorld Road Rules and other crapyy show channel. Considering they can't play a single video in its entirety without interupting it with some stupid comments or they just show part of the video and end it 30 seconds into it.

Pure crap.

Well, I HATE gangsta rap with a passion, and I really don't like watching people live in a California style house for 6 months while they are being videotaped, there is not much for me to enjoy.

I miss the days of Martha Quinn

MOney for nothing
Sledge Hammer
Land of Confusion

are several videos that come to mind.

My husband always liked that Whitesnake video with the redheadded girl on a car

NOW MTV is crap.

I can not stand MTV. VH1 has blown MTV away. Like you all have mentioned its RAP and CRAP (real tv sitcoms).

In the day when MTV had Headbangers Ball and a variety of videos it was great. Today VH1 has Behind the Music and is not catered to RAP.

~just my .02 :)

MTV was cool when it was new. Some of my favorite vids from then are: Money for Nothin; Angel is a Centerfold; and most of Huey Lewis and VanHalen vids. We will watch Daria (I have a16 year old daughter, they're remarkably alike) Celebrity DeathMatch and the Mrs. and I watched Loveline when it was on. Those poor un-educated people. Don't care for much else on there. VH1 is our music channel.

Beavis & Butthead that show was hilarous when I was 15 . its funnier now when I view the reruns.

Jackass is a great show - never fails to make me LMAO :)

MTV2 is pretty good. They actually play videos!(gasp!) They have a show where people go online & vote for the video they want to see next. Surprisingly enough, the crap videos always lose... no B Spears, BStreet Boys, N'Suck, etc. It's usually the harder/original stuff: Mudvayne, Tool, Sum41, etc. I wouldn't sit down & watch it, but it's a decent channel to have on in the background when you're working on something else, but wanna have a variety of music(as we all know, KC music radio stations pretty much suck donkey testes)

Ouch, OK I forgot about "Celebrity Deathmatch" and "Jackass"

ChiefPriority:

Those behind the music you mentioned I'll give you but what about...

Van Halen
Heart
Metallica
Def Lepard
KISS
Motley Crue
Huey Lewis
Styx
Journey
etc, etc, etc

You just do not find this kind of stuff on MTV (anymore)!

What video won the most MTV Video awards on one night, with no performer[s] involved ever being nominated again?

Sir Mix-a-lot's "Baby Got Back" is the greatest video of all time.

How many artists today make songs around videos?

I swear if someone just had to perform instead of POSE, they wouldn't know what to do. Don't I look cool in this shot? Aren't I the coolest? If you want to have an award show for videos, give it to the directors, not the "artists".

Unfortunately, the youth of today defines itself on this crap.

MeTV...sucks.

I left last night sure my little trivia question would be answered in short order. Any takers?

Bob Dole

Bob Dole thinks the answer has to be A-Ha.

Oddly enough, Bob Dole just heard them first thing yesterday morning. Showed up at a training session and the trainer had Spinner fired up playing 80's music...
