smittysbar, I know I asked before. What exactly should I order on TrackPass. I know i want the scanner but I wouldn't mind watching the race on my computer too. It would allow me to watch football on TV and the race on my computer.
You don't have to download anything, but if you click on the Free TNT Buddy a window will open, then click on Akamai Race Robo at the top right of the page.
WOW caution -------- the Race Buddy is a few seconds ahead of Nascar on TNT

I'm hysterical. Some friends of mine just said, A Shrub fan at another forum insists that Kyle isn't a "dirty driver", but that his moves are so "daring and unexpected that other drivers can't react in a way that keeps them from wrecking".
"Sure it wasn't Shrub posting? He is in his hauler right now... "

Nascar trying to cover their ass making excuses for the safety workers. They were too busy standing off to the side as Juan was getting toasted like a marshmellow.
I bet ASSCAR picks first 12 fans that enter the track. They're taken to the refreshment stand and offered snacks and a fire jumpsuit for free then told to stand in certain places on the track

Wall-trip ran out of talent hit the wall. Kyle Petty says in the booth, "This could be very costly for Mikey. --------- So at the season Mikey will finish 39th instead of 41st
Kyle went to his trailor to review the tape. Must have been a hell of a long tape because it took him about an hour to review. Kyle said he had a broken side view mirror and his spotter was no where to be found.
Hornish and Carpentier crash in Turn 1. Hornish tried to kill Carpentier as he got underneath him. Both were spinning in the backfield as we went to commercial.
Turn 1 collects Carpentier and Hornish again. The two went into the corner side-by-side with Carpentier on the inside. Carpentier ran out of talent, got loose and slapped Hornish into the wall. Gilliland spins as well as we go to commercial.
Bowyer crashes hard into the wall and collects Juan as well. Bowyer's car comes to a rest on the wall after spinning. Montoya crashes and catches on fire. Five minutes tick away as Juan drives his car around the track desperately looking for a fire truck. So someone called 911. When the fire did not arrive until Asscar fans watched in horror as Juan caught fire and turned into a human fireball.
Tony Eurine, Jr. proves once again he's worthless as Jr comes to pit row for two tires and a squirt of gas.
Nastycar makes sure that Biffle will not win the race today. They used one of their imaginary speeding penalties. Going too fast down pit lane. No need for them to change the script this late in the race.
That's about it.

I hope you hang with us during the races. It is alot of fun. You don't have to pick a driver/drivers right away. People are the most important part of a drivers success. Hendrick Motorsports, Roush/Fenway Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing have won every Nascar championship since 2000. But owners like Ray Evernham has a receipe for success. Jeff Gordon owes four Nascar Cup Championships to Ray Evernham as his crew chief.
Concentrate on drivers personalities and feuds. I can point that out. Once you are hooked -- you 're hooked.

Concentrate on drivers personalities and feuds. I can point that out. Nascar owes much of its success to driver feuds and lets the drama build as drivers emotions go unchecked. Drivers go after drivers out of pure retaliation. Some retaliation is blatant and some crashes can be determined by those involved. The rest are referred to as a "Racing Deal" -- Once you are hooked -- you 're hooked.

Shitload, the ground is saturated and there's a lot of lowland flooding. That tornado was just a couple miles away, I was outside watching the storm roll in and could hear a lot of noise in the distance, I had no idea I was listening to a tornado. Very scary as it rolled in at 2:40 am and we had virtually no warning.

Ray Evernham Bio:
Driven by a passion for automobiles, Ray Evernham climbed behind the wheel of a race car in 1979 and never looked back.
His drive to succeed behind the wheel created opportunities in the auto racing and technology industries.
In 1983, a call from legendary car owner Roger Penske challenged Evernham to resurrect the International Race of Champions (IROC) Series. The opportunity offered Evernham the chance to work with the world’s best racers, including Johnny Rutherford, A.J. Foyt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Darrell Waltrip, and Bill Elliott. The experience taught Evernham, as team manager, the value of team success and priceless lessons in the business of racing.
By 1990, those in the NASCAR community took notice of Evernham’s unique leadership abilities and success. Evernham was offered the opportunity to team with up-and-coming driver Jeff Gordon as his crew chief at Hendrick Motorsports, where Evernham would first impact the sport at NASCAR’s highest level of competition.
He seized his opportunity at Hendrick Motorsports, revolutionizing the crew chief role as leader of the Rainbow Warriors in the 1990s.
During his tenure with Gordon, he earned three championships and 47 wins in 216 starts, including two Daytona 500 victories and the inaugural Brickyard 400. His success earned him Crew Chief of the Decade honors in 2000 and his innovative work with pit crews continues to set the performance standard and his thumb print remains on engineering systems now used throughout the industry.

I/M/O This crash has Clint Boyer's name written all over it. Boyer has a reputation for not giving and taking. Drivers have accused him of running them up into the wall. One incident involved Tony Stewart. Boyer tried the same move on Tony a year or two ago. Big mistake. The two-time champ never lost control of his car. As Boyer pulled side-by-side next to Stewart, he gave Clint the finger and then turned him hard into the wall. Boyer then collected Carl Edwards. Nascar announced on the radio that Tony would be held a lap for aggressive driving. As Stewart is entering pit road, Edwards retaliates and slams Tony hard from behind. Then I clearly remember the #20 began spinning like an orange top near the pit stalls and thinking, I hope everybody made it over the pit wall.

Drivers have been telling the press how dangerously hot the COT cars is for all the drivers. They said you'd be amazed by how many drivers had to be in the infield care center after the race in order to get intravenious fluids because they got so sick in the car.
David Poole, is one of the most widely-read and well-respected journalists in Nascar. He writes a column and blog for the Charlotte Observer. He said when he went to interview drivers after races like Jr and a couple of others, they were so sick, they couldn't talk. Well, today Nascar held a secret meeting today with the drivers. First, here's one of the articles from last Sunday.
Last week at Pocono:
Long, hot afternoon takes toll, prompts complaints
JIM UTTER
The Charlotte Observer
Sunday, Jun. 08, 2008
Several drivers required a serious cooling off period following Sunday's race as the temperatures and long afternoon took their toll.
Denny Hamlin, Brian Vickers and A.J. Allmendinger were among those who complained they were not feeling well immediately after the race. Hamlin even made a brief visit to the infield care center.
"It's brutal. These cars, I don't know what we have to do as a sport, but they are ..." Vickers started to say before Hamlin interrupted him.
"They are hot," Hamlin said. "They are hotter than the old car by far."
Continued Vickers: "We're going to the infield care center after races and that's ridiculous. NASCAR needs to step in and ... do something to cool these cars down and help us."
Hamlin believes the problem may be with the exhaust system.
"It's closer to the floor panel and that's going to make the car hotter itself," he said. "Here, the pace (of the race) is so slow, once the car is loose, (the race) just takes forever.
"It's tough on us drivers."

In a secret meeting called by Nascar officials warned the drivers to "shut up and drive" or else. Nascar said they're tired of hearing the negative messages some of the drivers have being sending to the fans. Nascar feels that it has an impact on their cash flow -- Cockpit temperatures in the old cars often hit 140 degrees on hot days. Were the temperatures higher than that on Sunday?
Within five minutes after leaving the meeting, Junior spilled the beans to the press:
http://msn.foxsports.com/id/8243674_18_1.jpg
Jr's quotes regarding his thoughts on the meeting: I'll get the link.
WHAT IS YOUR INTERPRETATION OF WHAT WAS SAID IN THE MEETING THIS MORNING?
My interpretation was that the drivers should be thankful for the position theyre in and should be more positive in where this car is going to be in a year or two. It reminds me a lot of working with video game developers. The reason why the analogy works is because the public wants to know how good the game is. The public wants to know whats being fixed. Once the game is released theres a lot of bugs and stuff, just like with this race car. And the public wants to know when is it going to be fixed and whats being worked on and whats going to be added. And a lot of companies are not eager to give that information out until its done and finished.
And I see NASCAR with that same attitude. I think that they do a lot of work behind the scenes and they probably agree with us more than we tend to believe. And they understand that the car is new and its going to evolve and were going to learn more. Maybe three years from now well look back at what we have today and go, man, can you believe we had that car and that was the way we did it? Because theyll be some things well find that will be just like man, thats way better. Lets go in that direction. So I think theyre doing more than we give them credit for. Theyre thinking and working and trying and wanting to improve; and that us drivers should do less complaining.
I think its always great to be reminded. In my experience with Mike Helton, if he ever says anything, its been very valuable to me. And every time that man has spoke, Ive benefited from it. It gave me a whole lot clearer view of the situation than I had. And I appreciate Mike and NASCAR for thinking it was a good opportunity today to have that.
WITH NASCAR TELLING THE DRIVERS TO LAY LOW ON THEIR CRITICISM OF THE CAR, DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO BE MORE RESPONSIVE TO BEHIND THE SCENES COMPLAINTS NOW AND BE MORE ACTIVE IN DOING THINGS?
Yeah. They will. I think that they were. As a driver you just pent up the anguish that you have about the situation and you misinterpret NASCARs position and their approach and what theyre really doing. Like I said, theyre doing a lot with the car now. They are coming up with some new ideas and new ways to make the car not quite as sensitive in dirty air and theyll be testing that soon hopefully. I think its great that they feel like the car can evolve. It should, as every car has evolved in the sport, this car should as well. I feel like they know that and theyre open to it. You want to make the car to where it has more front grip and drives better in dirty air and turns down in the corner better. But at the same time, I like the way the rules are stricter on this car. Its a very difficult situation to have both.

The story gets better. According to David Poole:
http://turn-lane.blogspot.com/2008/06/accentuate-positive-or-else.html
Naturally, word of the meeting spread quickly to the media. It lasted less than 10 minutes and drivers walked out declining to comment. The signal was theyd been told more about what not to say.
NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter afterward encouraged the media to talk to the drivers about what was said, but after the practice ended at 1 p.m. some of the drivers clearly felt like the less they said the better off theyd be.
So it comes off that NASCARs message was We make the rules, were not going to change the rules and we dont want to hear you complaining about them or talking about how the racing needs to be improved.
What that implies, though, is that there are things that need to be changed but that NASCAR isnt going to change them because the drivers havent toed the line and kept their mouths shut.
Drivers werent the only people who got a talking to Friday. I was told that similar messages were delivered to the sports television and radio partners.

Drivers are concerned about their health. Heat exhaustion, or heat stroke, is a severe and potentially fatal illness.
Last week at Pocono:
Q. Brian, you said you're exhausted, you look awfully hot; Denny, no offense, you look like death warmed over. How hot was it out there? The 500 miles, was that too long for a day like today?
BRIAN VICKERS: Well, I tell you, I hate to see one of my friends and comrades down, but I'm glad to say it, too, but I am about testify fall over and just knowing I'm not the only one makes me feel a little bit better. It's brutal. These cars, I don't know what we have to do as a sport, but they are DENNY HAMLIN: They are hot. They are hotter than the old car, by far.
BRIAN VICKERS: Oh, double and away, they are too hot. And NASCAR, and the problem is it's a team and competition and we want to keep the cars light and go fast but we're killing ourselves. We're going to the infield care center off the races and that's ridiculous. NASCAR needs to step in and say we have to do something to cool these cars down and help us. It is extremely freaking hot out there.
And to answer your question, absolutely, 500 miles is way too long for this race. It always has been, and I love Pocono. You know, I enjoy coming here for all the reasons I just told you, but there's no reason to run 500 miles.
DENNY HAMLIN: Yeah, I agree. Even the first time we got in these cars, I think me and Brian were at the very first test, at Charlotte, and it was just too hot. I mean, I don't know what the temperature inside the car is, the difference, but these cars are way hotter than the old car. The ventilation is not near as good, even though we have a bigger window, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it just does. I just think the way that the exhaust runs; the way that the exhaust has to run in the car, it's closer to the floor pane, and that's going to make the car hotter itself.
So, yeah, I mean, it's just this is the longest race I think I've ever been a part of, for sure. It just seemed like it took forever, and a lot of the reason is we never run 500 miles where the average speed is 155 miles an hour while you're running.
If we run 500 miles, it's Atlanta where we are running the average speed of 180, so the race doesn't take near as long. Here, the pace is so slow, once the car is loose, it just takes forever. It's tough on us drivers.
I was glad I wasn't the only one, either. I saw Brian and even Junior needed a second to breathe. It's just tough. We're trying as drivers to do everything we can to stay hide rated but these cars are just way too hot.

Boo ****ing Hoo. I gauruntee that the cars from the mid to late 80s were hotter than the COT
I never been in a race car, but 140 degree's for almost 5 hours is a bit ****ing much. Not to mention that ****ing suit they got on. One of them ****ers is going to pass out at the wheel and kill someone one of these days. That is if its as bad as they are saying. I'm not sure I care for that attitude. NASCAR needs to remember people tune in because of the drivers, and not because of their shitty car that they're forcing them to drive.

I just caught the last laps of Nascar Craftsman Truck series. How exciting.
I can't believe Kyle Bush spun out Nascar veteran driver Ron Hornaday for position. Ron will kill him. What a shame. He just spun out the points leader. LOL... Hornaday is running after Kyle... lol
If your not familiar with the Veteran drivers in the Truck Series -- I'll be glad to write about them. They all come with a storied history in the sport.

Trucks at Michigan today:
The last three laps of the race. Amazing. Great clean racing until the last lap when Kyle Busch spins out Ron Hornaday. If you're still wondering why Rick Hendrick fired Kyle you don't have to look far. This weekend and about every weekend this season is why he is with Joe Gibbs. Anyone can wreck a driver, try running clean and see how you do.
It's also worth mentioning, Busch had problems with his former teammates, J. Gordon, J. Johnson and B. Vickers. He claimed they didn't help him win. And from that day on he will race his teammates differently.
This season I've noticed that Kyle may have taken his bad decisions and poor judgment to a new level. I'm hoping Joe Gibbs reaches out and gets him under control soon -- If not, Nascar drivers will do it for him.
After the truck race, Ron Hornaday said that he will take care of Kyle on the track. Ron drives for Nascar Cup driver Kevin Harvick. Kyle blamed the crash on Hornaday and ended with some unkind words towards Kevin.

Damn 2nd caution and they're on lap 13 ... Looks like a crashfest. Some field filler slapped the wall -- aero loose
Joey Logano is leading. Kyle is banging off everyone next to him. Kyle is running 16th,
Jason Keller just schooled Logano and blew past him on the restart.
OMG Kyle is running 6th. Freakin Jet Fuel. Kyle is 2nd... What????

Asscar should eliminate the Nationals point system for Cup drivers.
Nascar is trying to build an audience by drawing people in because cup drivers are in the races. Stupid. I would appreciate it more if they werent in there and you could begin following newer drivers, the up and coming guys that will be the next generation star in the Cup.
Instead it's diluted because Carl Edwards, Kenseth, Harvick, Busch, et al take 8 of the top 10 spots in the points and Havick has a 4,000 point lead with 20 races to go. WTF? How can that possibly be interesting?

Ive been a Gordon fan since the late 90's...I have to explain it this way.
When I moved out to Richmond VA, I didnt really follow it that closely, but you couldnt throw a dead cat and not hit an Earnhardt fan. Basically, everyone loathed Gordon and as a natural contrarian I started rooting for him. Im just that way. He hasnt won since 2001 and last year was a heartbreaker...the fugging chase format has cost him 2 titles.
Anyway, his years are numbered, he's probably going to retire in 3-5 years, and Ive got my eye on Kyle Busch. Yep...because the Jr fans hate him.

Ummm..no...it's more like:
Jr's in the lead, fortunate caution comes out while low on gas...run necessary caution laps then go GWC...
On the last lap, have some flunkies wreck assuring the Jr. win...

Here's what happened at the end of the race: Fuel strategy tracks are exciting to watch -- as long as your driver had enough fuel to finish the race.
When the caution came out following Sam Hornish's spin. Dale's crew chief told him to turn off the motor, coast and restart it on the green-white flag. Kasey also was low on fuel. The final caution came when the #1 (I think) got loose and hit the #55, who then got into the #10. The crash started on the cross/finish line. Nascar had no choice but to throw the caution. The leaders were racing towards the #10.
Watch Mikey Waltrip mow the lawn on the replay.

Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart are two of Nascar's most aggressive drivers in Nascar. Kevin takes it to another level. He was the first driver that had been suspended by Nascar. Feuds are settled on the track. Drivers emotions never stay in check for long.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/8219190/Darnell-beats-Benson-in-photo-finish-at-Michigan
Ron Hornaday Jr., who came into the race leading the points, was spun out by Kyle Busch on the last lap, raising a huge cloud of white smoke that the whole back of the field had to drive through. But Hornaday remained low on the track and NASCAR left the green flag out to the end.
Hornaday, who began the last lap in the 100-lap event seventh, wound up 23rd, the last truck on the lead lap. He fell to third in the standings, with Benson, new runner-up Bodine and Hornaday separated by just 21 points.
After the race, Hornaday and car owner Kevin Harvick sought out Busch in the garage and there was some yelling and finger pointing among the trio before things calmed down.
"He just drove into me because he got mad because I took us four wide and passed him cleanly," Hornaday said. "Halfway through the race, he showed me he was upset because he lifted the back of the truck up. If he is going to race that way, that is pretty chicken. He doesn't deserve to be a racer.
"He has a lot of talent, but that is just flat stupid. ... I don't knock any other driver, but I will tell you what, that kid has just about done wore me out. I don't know if I have to give up this championship to teach him a lesson. I hope I don't hurt him because, if Joe Gibbs lets him do this, I am ashamed for them."
Busch, who got started on another weekend tripleheader with a seventh-place finish, said the bump wasn't payback for an incident this year in Charlotte.
"I just got into him. Sorry about that," Busch said before Saturday night's Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway. "But remarks from Harvick and Hornaday are what they're going to be, they're big mouths anyway and so we'll take it and get on with it and hopefully beat them out for this championship."

R.I.P.. ESPN2 cut to Old Bridge Raceway in New Jersey. Champion Scott Kalitta was killed in a fiery crash during a drag race today. Ah... drivers are crying... ESPN2 is showing the crash -
Witnesses said the driver, Scott Kalitta, was speeding at an estimated 300 mph during the National Hot Rod Association Super Nationals when the engine of his Toyota Solara exploded in a ball of flames.
Speeding?
Nascar National at Milwaukee starts in about 10 minutes. But I'm not sure if ESPN is finished showing the crash for the 100th time.

As violent as the first explosion was I'm not sure that he wasn't gone before he hit the wall. I noticed the chute was trailing behind but never deployed. Kalitta was apparently knocked out by the engine explosion or something as he never applied the brakes.
The car was going at full speed when it leaped over the catch fence and then impacted the wall and exploded.

Heh, Lagano just introduced himself to Brad Keselowski. Things could get interesting here...
Is there anybody that hasn't had issues with Logano last night?
He can't even get out of his pit stall. He hit three cars coming in and out of his pit stall - and damaged about 20 more on the track.
Do you see him get underneath Carl Edwards? He also hit Clint Bowyer. He hit Reitumann and I believe he caused a three car accident.
I hate that Logano wrecked Brad Keselowshissskyhshy racing side by side for the lead. Brad is currently 2nd in points. While all the talk over the last two weeks has been about Logano, the driver thats moving on is Kesolowshikdisy.
Logano has a fast race car, but doesn't have a clue of everything that's going on around him.
Did you hear Rusty Wallace saying that Logano needs a lot of room around him in order to race? He got that right.

Road Course Race in Sonoma, Cali
Infineon | 3:30 p.m. ET Sun. | TNT
There are two ways to get around a road course. You can be a wild man or just muscle through the track.
Because there are only single-file restarts, track position is important. Tires are important, too, but as a crew chief, your main job is to make sure your driver races his own race. You have to race your lines and race the track.
You want to come to pit road at Lap 75 or so, and then you almost want to pack up your pit box because you don't want to be tempted to come back in. You don't want to give up any spot if you can prevent it.
Starting position means a lot because passing is so difficult, and single-file restarts make it tough to make up positions.
This course has 11 turns and a lot of elevation changes, so drivers go up and down hills and take some really tight left and right turns. On ovals, you beat people coming off the turns, but on this track, you have to outdrive them going into a turn.
Most of the turns are righthanders. Turn 1 is a lefthand turn. It's more of a high-speed dogleg than a corner. It's right past the start-finish line, and you carry a lot of speed into it. But the majority of passing is done on the righthand turns, so that's what you have to focus on.

Skip Towne: Hopefully you can watch some of today's race.
There has been a clash between Formula One and Nascar for years. Many of our current drivers have a background in open wheel. The names that come to mind: Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, Allmidinger (sp), J.J. Yelley, Kasey Kahne. Even two of our team owners Chip Ganassi & Roger Penske are really open wheel owners. Currently we have Champions Sam Hornish, Jr, Dario Francetti (sp) that come to mind.
Former McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya crossed over into Nascar in 2007. While Michael Schumacker called Nascar boring other Formula One drivers thought it was a great move.
Montoya is hands down in my opinion the most talented driver on the circuit. What he lacks is equipment. Last year, he put on the road course show that Nascar fans will never forget. He's the first driver to ever start in the 32nd position and win the race. Usually, in order to win at Sonoma a driver can start no higher that 13th.
