Rick Dean from the Topeka Capital Journal is on to make our 1st round pick.

He said we will try to trade down to 12-14 if Jake Long is not there to pick up Clady or Otah.

He made good solid points, and his reasoning was sound.

Who was available when we went on the clock?

If Long was off the board I'd be very happy with this pick.

If Long had been on the board, I would have still been happy with this pick.

Long was gone to the rams at #2.

I've come to assume that Long will be gone.

That being said, I would be very happy to see us take Ellis over reaching for somebody.

what are the Rams going to do with Orlando Pace if they take J. Long?

what are the Rams going to do with Orlando Pace if they take J. Long?

Probably start Jake Long at RT until Pace retires.

Then two years after Pace retires, they'll move Long back to RT, cause he can't protect the QB from speed rushers.

I believe this was what the board looked like before our pick:

1. Miami - Chris Long
2. St. Louis - Jake Long
3. Atlanta - Glenn Dorsey
4. Oakland - Vernon Gholston

I can't believe you keep pushing that J.L. will not be able to pass protect with ZERO evidence that he's not capable of it.

Many many draft guys have criticized Long's ability to handle speed rushers. One of his only knocks has been that his footwork is slow and he'll have trouble with NFL speed rushers.

This isn't anything new.......

It's only my opinion based on how awkward his footwork looks when setting up to pass protect.

Take it for what it's worth.
