The National Title Game from 1988 is on Classic tomorrow (or today if you want to be technical 3-18-08) at 3pm central time.

Just a heads up if you would like to see it.

I was in the Air Force, stationed in Oklahoma, and was in Saudi Arabia when that game was played. It was morning there and we were watching the game as we were getting ready to leave the hotel to go fly. The game ended just before we had to get on the bus. Very memorable.

That was a good day. It was my birthday. I went to the Royals game on opening day. Then went to a bar to watch KU win.

My kids always give me a hard time because I am always talking about Danny Manning, and now I get to show them what I am talking about.

This is a great game to do that.

Yeah, I stood next to him at a game last year, and my kids said I was "gushing like a schoolgirl" when I came home. He is pretty much my basketball idol, so maybe I was.

I didn't get to go to the game but I did get in to watch all four teams practice. Kemper filled up and the fire marshal wouldn't let anyone else in until somebody left. I later found out Hank Iba was waiting outside while I was in there.

Yeah, right. 4 scrubs and Danny Manning. They went 20-11 leading up to the tourney.

I was about 12 and lived next door to Scooter Berry and a couple of the other players at the time.

Wish I could remember the other 3 guys names...

Until a few months earlier I lived about a block from Danny Manning. I actually got to play basketball with him on his driveway a couple of times.

I know that Billy Tubbs was the coach for OU, and they had Stacy King, IIRC.

And this year it's a really well-rounded team.

I think if there's a year that KU can win it all, it's this year. Especially considering the quality of the Midwest region.

Mookie Blalock was the man I liked off the OU team. But it was their non athletic shooting forward that wasn't put off his game by KU early success from all the role players. That gave Manning the space to dominate in the 2nd half.

I am sure the kitties sent a DVD or two to the powers to be?

No need for ESPN to do that - most of the grapes have the game running 24/7on continuous feed in their double-wides thansk to the Deluxe DVD set most of them bought showcasing their program's only win of significance in several decades.
