My theory is that we don't ever get much respect because the game is made in Redwood City, CA. Thus, the people making the game are probably
A)Faider fans,
B)Whiner Fans, or
C)Nerd with no football knowledge.

Hey, did anyone else have trouble with Madden 2001 getting choppy late in games? I upgraded my memory and it still does it. Any ideas? (I still love playing it with my Hammerhead fx)

Gannon at 92.

That's a ****ing joke.

I have a policy of not playing football (or any sports games) on the PC...player movement and hand-to-screen delay is much smoother on the consoles...

ditto, Parker.

I just wish I wasn't behind on my writing, because that precludes me from getting a PS2 on which to play Madden 2002.

I might get it on PSX, not sure yet.

Speaking of writing, WTF am I doing here...

DaWolf

I haven't had that problem. With Intel slashing their prices like crazy, and memory so cheap now, it's easy to have the latest in high end systems nowadays... :)

What's really a joke about Gannon, you ask?

Speed:* 72 -- that's faster than Tony Richardson
Acceleration:* 70 -- ok maybe
Agility:* 72 -- better than several rookie WR's
Break Tackles:* 54 -- better than Priest Holmes
Strength:* 61 -- better than many RB's
ThrowingPower:* 82 -- same as Kordell Stewart
ThrowingAccuracy:* 94 -- better than Favre, only Kurt Warner appears to be better

OVERALL:* 92...this is an absolute joke

Wow, throwing power of 82 and accuracy of 94 for a guy who can't toss a spiral more than 20 yards.

Go figure.

DaWolf,

I have 2001 for PS1, PS2, and PC.

My PC is a 1Ghz PIII overclocked to 1.3Ghz with a GeForce 2 64DDR overclocked to 280/510 and 384MB of PC133 RAM. It's tweaked to the hilt. I can score over 4000 on 32Mark2001. I get about 80 frame per second in Madden. In other words, it's about the best you can buy (it was 3 months ago anyway!)

The Playstation 2 is far and away better. The graphics are smoother, the play is smoother, and the players move smoother...

No I hear ya, and the reason is (as you know) while a PC has to allocate resources to other things, the gaming system is entirely for gaming, so it'll be optimal.

But my thing is, I see no point in going out and spending $200-$300 on a system and $50 per game on something that's probably going to be replaced in a couple of years, unless I were a hardcore gamer or something or had all my buddies over to play games. I use my PC extensively for other activities anyway, so plunking down the $29.99 for Madden and playing it on the side is ideal for me. And one of the things I like, for example in games like NBA Live or High Heat Baseball, is that on the PC you can download customizable user made additions, tweak the music, etc.

But yeah, in terms of look and performance, no contest...

The PS2 will have a hard drive and ethernet card later this year, so soon I'll be able to download roster and add-ons too! :D

Also, we have Madden tournaments twice a month (there's 8 of us) so having the console is great for that...

Besides, I'm a gaming nut. I have 5 computers, a PS2, a PS1, a Nintendo64, and I still sometimes play emulated Sega and NES games on my PC.

Long Live Tecmo Super Bowl!!! :D

When a player has a ridiculously low rating on your team, just re-create him with the attributes you think he should have.

I see no reason why Richardson couldn't grow to 7'-0", 400 lbs. and run a 4.3 40, do you?

We'll call 'im, "Shaquille O'Neal on wheels".

You can bag on Pro Bowl Starting Quarterback Rich Gannon all day if you want to, but there's a reason Pro Bowl Starting Quarterback Rich Gannon was the starting quarterback in the Pro Bowl and has a rating of 92.

I would venture to say that Kirk Warner IS the only quarterback playing this season that possesses all the skills of Pro Bowl Starting Quarterback Rich Gannon. Brett Farver is a washed up drug addict, so you should even be mentioning his name in the same sentence as Pro Bowl Starting Quarterback Rich Gannon.

Who else can hold a candle to Pro Bowl Starting Quarterback Rich Gannon? Even though I'm the biggest Chiefs fan on earth, our own Brent Green doesn't come close to having the leadership skills and pocket savvy of Pro Bowl Starting Quarterback Rich Gannon.

(I have to go change my shorts now because their all messy after typing "Rich Gannon" so many times.)
