I think what could have been actually happened with Bono at the helm.

Whenever I see that cover, I throw up in my mouth a little.

How about a nod to perhaps the best individual unit that the Chiefs ever fielded: Lewis, Ross, Burruss, and Cherry?

Six receivers that Dr. Z thinks should be in the Hall of Fame, circa 2000. He's a smart, smart man.

Here's an article about a great Chiefs pass catcher who got his start playing basketball...but it's not who you think.

I have my own copy of an original Sports Illustrated from 196something of Len Dawson and the Chiefs on the cover, but it's not the one Ultra Peanut has in her post above. I used to go to a store that had the old Sports Illustrateds, and I kind of collected a few of them. I think my earliest is from 1956.

Ah, yes. Woody Green. Another of our illustrious running back busts in the first round.

I don't remember why Woody Green was a bust, but I don't think it was injury. I think he simply didn't do squat for us. He was squatless.

I'm a little young to remember Woody. It looks like his rushing wasn't horrendous - 3.8 ypc, and averaged 50 rushing and 20 receiving yards a game. Keep in mind that he was playing in the rapid descent to the dark ages.

However, he only started 28 games in three seasons, maxing out at 12 games in one season, which suggests either nagging injuries or general suckage. Additionally, he seemed to fumble a fair bit - once every 33 touches. That may have had something to do with it.

Yes, he was squatless. I called him Woody "no gain" Green.
