Maybe this will get scooted over to DC, but I thought the general board might find it interesting first. Note that you can click on it and zoom in. It shows in visual scale all discretionary government programs.

(I'm a little disappointed that it only shows discretionary programs, but nonetheless it's quite interesting. And it shows the total budget in the bottom right corner.)

Interesting. Kind of funny that the more I zoom in to see what fiscal spending our government undertakes the less transparent(more blurry) it becomes.

Social Security: $608 billion
Medicare: $386 billion
Medicaid: $202 billion
Interest on the National Debt: $261 billion

And people really want these f*cksticks in charge of their "free" healthcare?

Under the Department of Justice, there's .37 billion allotted for the Office of Violence Against Women. I'm not sure it's a good thing that the Feds think that American men are now a bigger problem than the former Soviet Union.

I think it's the program that gets rid of the weapons of mass destructions of countries that were once under the USSR have.

I think Amtrak funding should be beefed up.

I also thought it was interesting to see that we spend twice as much money on AIDS in Africa than we do with AIDS/HIV in America.

Also, the Terrorism Prepardness Institute sounds unncessary.

Well they could have said 5 million dollar toilet seats. At least they're more open now.

Well at least they're not wasting that much money on something that will do no good.

With non-provoking commentary like this, I don't see how this thread would wind up in DC.

Now if I said something like this...

Social Security is a profitable system, FWIW. At least for now.

Have you ever dated a Russian woman?

Yeah, makes all the sense in the world now...
