Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen has sparked outrage in Kansas--by stripping down to a pair of hotpants and terrorizing locals.

The actor is currently filming his latest movie Bruno--a mockumentary about a homosexual Austrian TV host--and gathering footage of his interaction with locals.

But the oddball character's outrageous dress sense has not gone over too well with respectable Kansans, and local newspapers have reported that a "European man" was "putting security on red alert" by "stripping down to tight shorts and dancing in the lobby of Wichita Airport."

And the hijinx hasn't ended there--Cohen and his crew are reported to have disrupted an Easter play at a Kansas church by turning up in "chains."

A spokesperson for the actor declined to comment on reports.

Bruno has great scenes, too.

Like when he gets the artist to say that his exhibit was alternatively happy, sad, light, dark, whimsical and serious.

Or dare we forget the wrestling team on spring break, that scene when he's wrestling they guy, gets him in a clench and temporarily attempts to smooch the guys butt slays me.

Funny Story:

Believe it or not I have a friend that does some modeling back in Wichita. He has done stuff for Coleman, etc. Anyway he got a phone call a couple weeks ago from his "agent" saying that they had a weird casting request, but wanted him at the airport the next day.

He was at the airport shoot described in this article. He said they said it was for a documentary on the US, but he could clearly tell it was not and continued to ask different workers about it. Finally one of them asked him if he'd seen Borat, he said yes and she said ok, but nothing more. He was able to watch from behind the cameras when he wasn't being filmed and said the way they were filming other scenes appeared very much like Borat.

He shot a scene dressed as a male airline attendant (stewardess as I call him) with another male attendant and had to wink at the other guy (believe me my friend is hearing no end of the gay chit he was willing to do). He had to film a couple scenes just winking and others saying a line that he wouldn't tell us.

He said he signed a NDA (non-disclosure) so he can't say anything about the scenes, etc, but he was told that they were supposed to be in an airport in Ohio (not Kansas).

He said the whole commotion started because the primary actors (stars) came out in big fur coats before their scene and quickly removed them right before they started filming. They had Wichita PD as security on set, but TSA came over and told them they had to leave because they were causing a disturbance. He said they were kindly asked to leave and left in an orderly manner and that the articles about the incident greatly exaggerate anything that happened.

Take it for what it is, this part may get left on the cutting room floor, but for my benefit I have a lifetime of ammunition with one of my good friends willing to dress as a male attendant and wink at another dude in an attendants costume.

Bruno's bits were great on Da Ali G show. As a former Kansan, it's not too surprising that people were "outraged" by anything really.

Here is the video footage from the filming in Wichita Midcontinent airport. I posted about my friend who was there. He is the attendant who enters at the 14 second mark and walks in from the right side, walking across the scene w/ his carry on. Unfortunately for those of us who have been making fun of him, he wasn't wearing hot pants like the others in the video.

Not even close. Tom Green would just make dumb faces, drool, put mice in his mouth and do other awkward things around people. Sacha is intelligent in his comedy, knowing how to set up funny and interesting events, but it all centers around real conversation and scenes.

you gotta admit Tom painting a sapphic hardcore porno scene on the hood of his dad's car was funny.

But I never much cared for TG, Borat, Ali G, or Jackass.

That's about right, definitely not Tom Green though.

He acts like a reporter, presents a language barrier and asks questions that either 1) anger the other person, 2) fly over their head and insult them in a backhanded fashion or 3) they agree with and make themselves out to be asses.

Bruno is a gay Austrian TV host.

Celebrity Visitor gets Kansans Talking

Did Sacha Baron Cohen strike again? People magazine is reporting that the actor famous for playing the character Borat is the one who pulled the recent filming prank at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport that is leading to a policy revision.

But Victor White, director of airports, isn't so sure it was Cohen.

"It's an interesting debate," White says.

(See what you think. Check out video at Kansas.com/business by clicking the link to the right.)

Cohen has been filming a movie about a Borat-style character named Bruno, who is an Austrian fashion reporter.

Regardless of whether Cohen was in Wichita, the debate is giving the airport some great worldwide attention.

"Wichita Mid-Continent Airport is on the minds of people around the world right now," White says.

There haven't been such happy outcomes at other places where Cohen, or the wanna-be Cohen, and his filming team have visited.

For instance, staff and members at Central Community Church were not amused by a mid-March visit. One staff member blogged that the crew tried to ruin a church event. "By God's power and providence, the plan was thwarted," he wrote.

And the marketing director for KWCH, Channel 12, lost his job over approving the film crew's visit to his station, though nothing was filmed there because the "reporter" (Cohen?) who was supposed to show up never did.

White says he's heard of a number of other stops the crew has made across Kansas. He says the crew had a permit to film at Kansas City International Airport but never used it.

"The assumption is after their cover was blown here... they decided not to show up in Kansas City after all," White says.

It's hard to imagine the somewhat juvenile footage from the airport here making Cohen's movie, but it sounds like White would buy a ticket one way or the other.

Did he see "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan"?

"Oh, yes," White says.

He admits he has a strange sense of humor, but when asked if he liked "Borat," White thinks it's best not to say.

"No comment," he says.
http://www.kansas.com/business/rengers/story/358526.html

That sucks for the Marketing guy who lost his job over this stuff. I'm amazed that they had people walking from the gates and around the security equipment. The "attendant" who walks past and does a double take in the beginning is my friend I mentioned was there for the filming and he comes from the an area that leaves the gates. Nice security policy Wichita.
