I think it's a good deal. I have a GPS that I bought at Best Buy for $180 and it has saved me alot of headache

I am kind of torn as I really only look at these things for the geek factor. Google maps has served me well but at the same time, having something to just guide me without having to pick up papers is a plus.

Don't know if my wife could handle using something like this or not.

Tell her she doesn't have to worry when you don't want to ask for directions

If you do a lot of driving in unfamiliar territory, you need one.

I have a garmin and have had another brand I can't think of and there is no comparison with the garmin alot more user friendly and I like it alot more than any other I have been around.

But if you are asking if you should just buy one I would definately recommend it. I use it all the time just because it tells me what time I will actually get somewhere it helps so you aren't late and are precise as to what time you will arrive somewhere

Everybody likes the Garmins. Some of the guys here at work have them and they all say they are great.

I picked up a Garmin nuvi 200 from Amazon a week ago on sale for $149.99 with free shipping. Normally $200-250.

Considering I am only after the geek factor really, I might as well wait until they drop in price a little more. I would have to imagine the Garmins will eventually be down around this range.

The magellan is better than that Garmin unit. Plus, that unit does not have text to speech.

I think I will just wait for the garmins to drop more. Sounds like the magellans are not very good at redirecting when you miss a turn.

Text to speech? Mine talks to me all the time, especially when I miss a turn.

It's an entry-level unit, but more than suits my needs. And for $150, it's tough to beat.

Text to speech means it will say "Turn left at Main St." instead of "Turn left in 200 ft".

Ah... that's not a big deal to me. If I can't figure out where to turn when it's telling me audibly and it's giving me written instructions, I probably shouldn't have passed my driver's test.

What does everyone think of the Garmin Streetpilot c340? I know it's 2-3 years old, but it still looks like a solid unit.

isn't the nuvi 360 better, newer and not much more?

The nuvi 360 is only about 6 months or so newer as far as I can tell.

Wow, oh wow. This thing is really, really cool. This is gonna come in very handy. Especially when I take the family to Disney World next month. Just got it last night and updated the software. Did some driving around town with to get a feel for how it works. It is a nice little invention.

I just got the nuvi 350 and I love it. I think the difference between it and the 360 is bluetooth capability.

I ordered this from amazon about a month ago, when it was about 180. It looks like they raised the price. Alot of people I talked to said Garmin is the best GPS out there, while magellan's has some issues. I havent had any problems with it so far...other than some odd routes. It redirects good.

I looked into them. I ended up buying MS streets and Trips with GPS locater for my laptop. It usually runs $120, but I got it on sale for $80. I do alot of traveling and I love it. I just set it in the passenger seat and it tells me when to turn just like the stand alone GPS's do. I found it more practical for my use. I also have an inverter to keep the battery charged.

I'm not a big fan of the GPS but then I have a sense of direction.
