For a summer tour......Sounds like Velvet Revolver are feuding now. WTF???

On a side note, why is it that Bands can never stay together???

The recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots will next week announce plans for a summer tour of more than 50 amphitheaters, sources said.

The L.A. rock group has already confirmed a handful of festival dates, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 17-18.

Further details about STP's tour will be announced during an April 7 news conference at the Harry Houdini Estate in Los Angeles. It is still unclear whether the band will record new material.

Rock on the Range will be Stone Temple Pilots' first show since 2002, when it played 13 concerts to promote its final album, 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da."

Singer Scott Weiland went on to co-found Velvet Revolver, which is about to conclude a European tour in support of its second album. But he and drummer Matt Sorum are engaged in a public feud, casting doubt on the outfit's future.

Sweet. I played Core and Purple so often I had to replace both CDs.

Does Vegas have an over/under yet on when he REALLY OD's?...

I love STP but he always struck me as some kind of mutant. Like the first lizard with wings, he was goth/emo with testicles...

Big egos are hard to keep in the same room for an extended period of time.

STP was a great band, they managed to blast their way into prominence during the grunge phenomenon...from LA...the DeLeo bro's are outstanding.

Its good to hear their back together, but not at the expense of VR.

Weiland will most likely be back in rehab long before they get 1/2 of the way trough their tour.

He just got out of rehab a month or so ago (maybe a few months), so obviously not to old.

Army of Anyone (featuring the DeLeo Bros & Richard Patrick from Filter) went belly up quick. They sold only 20,000 units before disbanding. Velvet Revolver does well in concert revenues but poorly in sales.

Weiland's been in and out of rehab for years and he's released right now on a court order that may be refuted at any time (he still awaits trial). And as much as I liked STP's first two records, their sales dropped dramatically with each release. "Core" sold 4 million, "Purple" 2 million, "Tiny Music" sold one million and each of the last two records sold only 500,000 each.

They definitely needed the break to regroup creatively. Where it goes, no one knows.

Damn strait. IMO, one of the best bands to come out of the 90's. One my favorites of all time. This one band would make buying tickets to an other wise crappy summer jam lineup worth the price of admission.

Can you imagine how good GNR would have been without that tool Axl Rose. Had GNR had all those hits with Scott Weiland they would have been so much better. But then again we wouldn't have had STP.

STP >>>>>>>>>>>>>> VR

Totally agree.

Velvet Revolver was completely and utterly disappointing. With the exception of "Fall to Pieces", the band has no signature songs and there's absolutely no "danger" involved in the lyrics or songwriting. Just two very "safe" and forgettable releases.

It will be very interesting to see who they choose to replace Weiland. Before he was brought in, they had Josh Todd from Buckcherry (and Keith Nelson, who co-wrote a few songs on Contraband before parting with both of them and replacing Nelson with Kushner). They also recorded six songs with Mike Matijevic from Steelheart (and provided most of the vocals from the movie "Rock Star" with Wahlberg) along with Sebastion Bach.

The songs with Matijevic sounded nothing like GNR or VR - very different. Slash felt that Josh would make them sound too "80's", just as Bach would.

I think Bach would be a cool choice but he's such good friends with Axl that I'd be surprised if he accepted, even if the guys reached out him.

Whatever they decide, I certainly hope it'll be better than the first two VR records.

Anybody know what the VR feud is about?

Yes.

Wieland's and unpredictable drug addict who's in and out of rehab constantly, besides being out on bail.

The band is sick of it, as most of them have gone through this before.
