Well, he's still no William Shatner.

I think Shatner was kidding.

For the life of me, I can't understand why the audience wasn't on their feet and booing after the first minute and a half.

I think it was because they were so damned uncertain about what was happening.

Just to be sure, you were talking about booing Shatner after a minute and half and not Gravel, right?

I'd have "gonged" both of them.

Booing Shatner. Not that I'm a big fan of booing, but sometimes there's just no other way. I guess it was a different day in the 70's. I think people were very much more open minded about what passed for entertainment back then. TV was just getting it's full stride. There's no way that performance would go off today.

The best part abou Mike Gravel is that he thinks that he's a libertarian. Fine Mike. Everyone is welcome to the club. But no libertarians are confused about what you stand for bud. Being a libertine who believes in socialism is not the same thing as being a libertarian.

Wow.

I can't top this, but since I was in the middle of capture and posting this...

I read this book to my son every night - "Bear on a Bike".

It was on the wall behind Bush while he was reading to the kids at the school in FL.

Interesting you brought this point up....becuase that is what a lot of people think libertarianism is. That's actually the left-libertarian combination....in fact left libertarians hate private property and free-markets more than progressives and liberals. They're really just anarcho-socialists.
